Super Bowl Snacks 2015!

^^^Dungeness crab dip?

Maybe … I think I can get dungeness at Costco sometimes. Hurts me to buy it, we ought to be pulling it up in season from Dad’s boat. (Back when…)
Does anyone have an apple or pear dessert that doesn’t need a plate and fork?

Skittles? I heard they are even making them in Seahawks colors

LOL

At our house we have “lucky” beer. My lucky Super Bowl been is Elysian Loser (I know!). It is very sad that they just sold to The Man last week, but they are down next door to the CLink and Safeco Field and Loser is an homage to Sub Pop records and the Seattle independent spirit. I wanted to try it last year but was a bit gun shy about the name. Finally I just decided to go for it and it couldn’t have turned out better!

How about sliced apples around a bowl of caramel dip? Just sprinkle the apples with lemon juice so that they don’t brown. You can also try a chocolate sauce for dipping.

ETA: I’ll bet there are people who would be happy with a bowl of fresh apples and pears as nature made them

I have an apple snack cake recipe that is baked in a 9 x 13 pan and can be cut in small squares and is firm enough to eat in hand. It’s at home though…or here are a bunch of peanut butter dip recipes - serve with sliced apples. Or brie with warm cinnamon apples on top and crackers…

Yum

@dragonmom, what about the bite sized brie things from that earlier link paired with some kind of apple thingy? There are lots of fruity type relishes/chutney that go with things, and the linked recipe talks about some of them. You could substitute apples for the fruits they used?

Here’s the brie dish:

This cake is really good

OOPS -just noticed you said no plate or fork -I think this cake would need those - sorry

Oh my, Paula Deen!!!

A new twist on nachos!!!

^^^^Those sound sinfully good.

But I can’t call them any version of nachos. Nachos are torilla chips, refried beans, and real cheese, sometimes accompanied by chicken or beef and jalepenos. That’s IT. No blue cheese, no fruit, no liquidy cheese-like sauce, no pita chips or triscuits. Those are all pathetic pretenders.

Wow abasket -those look amazing.
My favorite “pathetic pretender”
Is tortilla chips with heaps of shredded monterey jack cheese -put under the broiler for just long enough to melt the cheese then topped with this: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/06/pineapple-mango-salsa/

LOVE mango salsa. Wonder if I can find mango in the grocery now??? Haven’t noticed one lately - but haven’t benn looking for it!

^^^^I love mango salsa too, on top of broiled fish!

The Jarred Mango in the produce section - “Dole” I think isn’t bad. I have also just made it straight pineapple which was delicious

I love that this thread ended up right next to my thread about what to feed someone who recently had a heart attack.

^LOL, missypie, yeah, send over a big ole bowl of cheesy pizza dip!

We could call this the "What NOT to feed someone who has just had a heart attack " thread

For lunch I had an avocado cut in half and pitted, topped with grated cheddar mixed with minced chipotle in adobo and lime juice, then broiled until the cheese is bubbly and browning. Eat it out of the avocado shell with a spoon. It’s delicious and reasonably healthy.

This could easily be made into a Super Bowl snack by chunking or roughly mashing avocados into a shallow baking dish, then topping with the cheese mixture and broiling.
