Super Bowl Snacks 2015!

^^^Sometimes before I exercise, I will put some chunky salsa into the “bowl” of a halved avocado. So simple and so good. Avocados are awesome.

Thanks for all the good ideas. I’m leaning toward Apple slices with a couple of dips but those cakes look amazing.

deb922 - I bet I’ve made that chicken club brunch ring a few dozen times. I sold Pampered Chef when my kids were little and that was one of my demo recipes. It’s really tasty.

Lots of good ideas already on this thread! We go to a big party every year and I thought I was going to make a spinach and artichoke dip inside a loaf of rye but now I’m thinking of the mini brie wraps in cgpm59’s post. I have some great savory jam that I canned this summer.

For WA item, what about blackberry cobbler: blackberries and raspberries and strawberries are all over, also cherries & apples.

Bumping up for myself so I can finalize my grocery list for my SB menu today based on some of your suggestions!

I’m thinking:
Chicken wings (hot and teriyaki)
The pastry wrapped brie
Mango salsa and chips
A dip - either spinach artichoke or guacamole
Some sort of jazzed up brownies
Some fresh fruit and veggies

Anyone have a jazzed up brownie recipe you like? Even just something that you add to a boxed mix??

^^^I’m not a fan, but D2 makes peanut butter brownies that all of her friends inhale. Obviously you can add nuts, some people put frosting on them.

Oh I forgot! Stuffed mushrooms too! I don’t know, maybe i have too much stuff!!!

We always add chocolate chips to our brownies - pb could work!
I also was thinking to just have some cut up fruit and rice krispies and melt chocolate to drizzle for dessert - not too heavy.

I need to stop adding ideas…

Seriously, how can anything be better than buffalo chicken dip? It’s SO addictive!

When we aren’t invited somewhere and it’s just our family, we let each member pick their favorite snack and buffalo chicken dip is always on the menu. Other things that have made appearances have been the classic potato chips/French onion dip, a sushi tray, Red Vines, mini cocktail hotdogs, and Fritos.

Don’t tempt me julesgr!!!

@somemom - Yum, berry cobbler! I make it with the frozen berries from Costco. Tempting but messy to eat. I’m remembering picking buckets of blackberries every summer. Always good ones under the power lines.
Will have to google Buffalo Chicken dip. Sounds yummy.

These aren’t exactly jazzed up brownies, but they’re amazingly good and plenty chocolatey.

While we do not plan to watch the Super Bowl this year, I just read something interesting. On Super Bowl Sunday, Americans will eat 120 million lbs. of avocado, equal to the weight of 387,096 linemen (average weight of 310 lbs.).

^^^Holy guacamole, Batman! That’s a lot of avocados!

Im serving blue corn chips and guacamole. Very Seahawks color scheme  Also, apples and smoked Flagship and St Michelle wines.

The Costco strawberries have been VERY sweet and delicious! I’m a fan of guacamole, but hate that it browns so quickly, even if you squirt it with citrus. I guess you have to buy in the correct quantities and eat it quickly.

When we save guacamole, I always carefully shave off the top layer when I take it out the next day. It’s perfectly green underneath.

^^^ Yes. If there is any left! Another thing that works in addition to leaving the pit in the finished mixed guac, is to take a sheet of saran wrap and rest it on top of the top of the guac and then pull the rest tight over the container and seal with a lid or whatever - helps to slow the browning.

Guacamole can be frozen in a ziplock bag - if you get all air out, it will not oxidize.

Yes, Costco sells frozen guacamole that is quite good and bright green; I’m sure they get all the air out before they freeze it. It has very few additives or ingredients other than avocado. My sis introduced us to it. Yum! Wish our avocado tree was bearing fruit–it hasn’t for some time now.

@cgpm59 and @abasket, I went to Trader Joes and bought mini bries. Going to try to have them ready for DH’s arrival from our Lake House. He expects to get home by 6:00.

Looking forward to trying them!
