Super Bowl

Holy moly, really? That’s an amazing stat.

It’s not even that cold in Philly right now (46 degrees).

This morning in Philadelphia, they greased the street light poles with Crisco to discourage fans from climbing them (born and bred Philadelphian hangs head in mild embarrassment). Hoping the lead holds (Vegas line is already in for Pats vs Eagles in the Super Bowl even with 10+ minutes left in the game) and the mayhem is kept to a minimum.

Have you read Silver Linings Playbook? (The movie is awful and NOT true to the book). It is hysterical with the Eagles fans and the Indian doctors and professionals in their Eagles bus.

I love that movie and Bradley Cooper is actually at the game tonight!

I don’t like the movie because I loved the book so much.

It’ll take some amount of time, but eventually we’ll figure out how the Patriots cheated. Again. :-q :))
Go Eagles.

Jimmy G. will deliver a 49ers Super Bowl victory next year. [-O<

Let’s hope Philly keeps it classy tonight with those greased poles!!
Fly Eagles Fly!

I’m so excited (and surprised) about the Eagles! Lifelong fan and I got to attend the 1960 championship game at Franklin Field when I was very young. I don’t think the Eagles can beat the dreaded Patriots, but I’m glad we got to the Super Bowl! My CEO is hosting a party for our executives and I’ll get to wear my Eagles jersey!

" I don’t think the Eagles can beat the dreaded Patriots.". Think positive! The Patriots don’t look invincible and the Eagles performed very well with Foles tonight!

Dang. Looks like I’m forced to root for the Eagles. Or just skip the SB altogether (more likely choice.)

Fly Eagles Fly!!! They certainly played the best of all four teams, and I agree that the Patriots didn’t look invincible, so I like our chances. Plus this team is fired up and embracing the whole underdog role. As JHS noted in an earlier post, this team is really special and they’re a ton of fun to watch and root for. Welcome aboard the bandwagon, all you Patriots/Brady-haters!!

Foles was lights-out tonight. He is inconsistent, though, although he has been improving since the end of the regular season.

Maybe the Vikings just choked, but the Eagles’ offense looked pretty darn good tonight. I don’t feel confident that the Patriots will win.

Most people at the party I was at tonight felt that Minnesota would be the tougher team to beat, but that was before the game. Now… not so much.

The Pats were also missing Gronk for the entire second half. Hopefully the concussion was mild enough that he’ll be back well before the Superbowl. He was obviously out of it when he came up from that helmet to helmet hit.

In terms of pure football it would have been fun to see the Vikings play on their home field. As a Pats fan I’m glad we don’t have to face them there.

Minnesota would have been the tougher team to beat because it would have been a home game for them. Not with the fans as each team will have an equal number of tickets but with knowing the field, the locker rooms, the practice facilities, the equipment.

Had an Eagles party at our house. The dads all walked the kids up to Broad Street and really just enjoyed cheering on the team with everyone. They all ran in to friends and I think there will be a lot of tired kids in school tomorrow!

I’m a lifelong Eagles fan. This is not a plus for the team… (see…Vanderbilt)

Well, I was certainly wrong last week when I wrote that the only way the Eagles could win now would be to survive an ugly, trench-warfare game.

Nick Foles has always been something of a streaky guy. If he gets on a roll, he can look great . . . as he did last night. Even when Tori Smith dropped Foles’ first attempt at a bomb, I had a glimmer of hope because Foles had basically thrown an accurate long pass that should have been caught. I thought if he kept doing that, someone would catch the ball, and that’s some of what happened.

Howie Roseman is the Eagles executive most responsible for personnel decisions. When someone congratulated him after the game on bringing Foles back to Philadelphia this year, he immediately gave the credit to the owner.

It was an expensive decision.

And most of the rest was defense. The Vikings made four trips into the Eagles’ “red zone,” and got 0 points for their efforts. The 17-24 points they would have expected on average from those drives would have made the game completely different.

Two East Coast teams plus Justin Timberlake means no reason to watch next Sunday for many out west. I was really hoping the Vikings would win.

Ski areas will benefit. Super Bowl Sunday is usually lightly attended.

Loving the Wile E. Coyote reference.

The “Pit of Despair” for him. Boston/New England fans, no humility whatsoever. And then if there’s a bloody sock or some stiches, then they’re all in a beehive frenzy. %-(

For the next two weeks, I’m borrowing from the Bud Light commercial, and where the commercial says “Dilly Dilly,” for the next two weeks I’m replacing it with “Philly Philly.”

Philly Philly!
