Superbowl and Madonna

I thought Madonna did a good job. It was obviously very-well choreographed and practiced. I’ve seen some previous shows and it’s obvious they phoned it in.

Ha, ha! I knew if I came here I’d find something like this.

Some of you are an extremely tough audience or your dislike of Madonna makes you impartial.

I thought it was an amazing show as did my 77 year old parents and teen children. Great choreography, tight performance and nothing risque or inappropriate. It was one of the best half-time shows in many years.

What I culdn’t help notice is how fresh all the new talent was. I love ■■■■■, Ceelo, Nikki Minaj, etc, and I thought their intorduction helped the performances. I have loved Madonna for years. I hate the lipsynching, but realize after last years performance, live in just not the way to go.

It was a well choreographed performance that probably was great if you were in the stadium. The TV coverage was choppy & didn’t do justice to the enormous stage & light show. The lip syncing was horrible.

I am a Madonna fan, but didn’t like the song selection - Vogue was just an odd song to start with, it is not a high energy song.

IMO, no one can repeat the energy of the Springsteen show a few years ago that was clearly live. (from a very biased Springsteen fan.)

Great game…Great half time performance. Madonna had a pulled hamstring according to the news channels this morning…so that close call on the steps was understandable…heck at 53 most woman wished they could look that good.

OK, the tapped music with her actually signing along makes sense. You could tell she was singing, kind of hard to fake/lip sync vibrato, but she was “off” in spots. Given the venue and the complicated nature of the show, I can see why they do that.

Big story today, NFL apologizing for the “finger malfunction” by M.I.A. [Finger malfunction? Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime show upstaged by M.I.A. middle finger | StarTribune.com](http://www.startribune.com/sports/138752109.html)

Not crazy about Madonna, but she gave a very good show. Thought she looked great at 53. Yes, she has been known in the past as a performer who secretly uses canned music. She and Janet Jackson got caught doing this years ago and began to limit their use of canned music after a few Attorneys General threatened to sue for consumer fraud, given the high cost of tickets to live concernts.

I think it’s ridiculous that the NFL feels the need to apologize and that headline that the halftime show was upstaged? Also ridiculous. I’d be willing to bet that most people didn’t even notice it!

The big story today should be the idiocy of Ahmad Bradshaw and the incredibly good luck of the Giants that Brady didn’t connect with a hail mary to win the game, when allowed one more chance!

Football has always been a game of yards and inches at the same time. For alwaysamom and ziggi to keep saying the Giants are just lucky, misses the point that all games contain elements that could have gone the other way “if only”. Was it luck that Brady didn’t connect on his Hail Mary? The 8 or 9 Giants who were defending might challenge that.

If only Gronkowsky had caught the ball he had his hands on, if only Manningham had stepped a few inches more to his left, if only if only. That’s not “luck” - that’s just football.

We thought Madonna was pretty good–way better than the Black Eyed Peas, not as good as Prince. She’s shrewd, which is why you saw ■■■■■, Cee-Lo, Minaj and M.I.A. on stage with her. We thought she was lip-synching part of the time, actually singing during other parts.

As far as the game, at least there was something to watch during most of it.

As far as the commercials, nothing great. I hated a couple of them, especially the one where the kid thought his parents had bought him a car. Why would anybody make a commercial that makes me feel bad about the product?

I enjoyed Madonna’s performance. I’m not a huge fan of Madonna (come on–she grew up in Detroit and spent a year at the University of Michigan–English accent???) but I thought the show was entertaining. I also think that she’s in great shape despite the near fall (if she wasn’t strong and in good physical shape, she wouldn’t have caught herself and would have fallen and done some damage).

Game was good–my team lost, which is unfortunate. Friends left quickly after it was over and now I’m stuck with too much food. I’m, looking at 5 bags of Cape Cod chips, pita chips, Tostitos, blue corn chips, and Doritos!! No one wanted to take his/her chips back–thinking of packing them up for the food pantry along with unopened jars of salsa.

Madonna’s show bugged me, and it wasn’t until just now that I figured it out. She’s always outrageous, so that’s what I was expecting. I didn’t get it.

M.I.A. flipped the bird and said a naughty word. That wasn’t outrageous enough?

We found it outrageous that Madonna can do deep knee bends at her (and our) advanced age.

I never even saw MIA’s action until I saw a headline later and watched the video in slowmo.

The big part of the audience is the young people, not only advanced age people.
I used to be irritated when seeing MJ putting his hand over his.
Living in the US for quite a while now I am getting used to these kinds of show.
I don’t preach anymore.

No, it was more a case that New England had the misfortune of being behind late in the game and needing Hail Mary miracle to pull it out. A Hail Mary pass is, by definition, a desperation long shot with a very low probability of success. And sure enough, it didn’t work. New York wasn’t incredibly lucky so much as they performed well, executed when the chips were down, put themselves in a position to win, and were rewarded with success.

As for the half-time show, let’s just say my respect for Gwen Stefani has grown since she performed a few years ago. She made it clear to all her fans that she was singing live.

Thought halftime show was ok, understand that Madonna had a hamstring injury so thought she did pretty well.
I hope I look that good at 53!

Thrilled the Giants won, and loved most of the commercials!

I would love a half time show that is not over the top. Why do we need multiple “stars,” hundreds of dancers, impossible costumes, fireworks, etc.?

Give me a quality musician or band playing live. Some great dancers and a some showy stuff is fine too, but all the overproduction these days overshadows the music.

On the football note,I thought it was a great game with two very talented and well coached teams. I think the Giants deserved to win. It was not luck. Don’t forget about the non-call on interference that hurt the Giants earlier. I feel terrible for Welker, who is a stand up guy. I also feel for Bradshaw who made a mistake, but was caught up in the momentum and the moment. I admire Brady for his post game comments, but not his wife who has been publicly criticizing the receivers for costing her Tommy the game. She needs to be quiet.

I agree with momof2kids, saying Brady’s wife needs to step back. When she said

I sympathize with her extreme disappointment, and I understand she’s supportive of her husband. But for a spouse to criticize her husband’s teammates is not a good idea. Those teammates have spouses that are pretty disappointed too.
