@romanigypsyeyes , Your discussion thread was titled Super Bowl Discussion Thread, not SB Commercial thread, so it has seemed to move around some. Either there was no other thread about the Super Bowl, or threads could have been merged.
The Google ad (yes I cried) and the Cheetos ad were my favorite. There’s a thing in advertising, take a negative, highlight it and make it a positive. That ad is a perfect example of that!
Being a lifelong 49ers fan, please, I would appreciate everyone to continue carrying on about the halftime show and commercials. Thank you.
@sevmom yup and talking about commercials that played during the Superbowl imo is more relevant than discussing the morals of pole dancing or wearing revealing clothing ?
Google did a lovely job of manipulating my emotions. But I’m still opposed to putting a surveillance device in my house, although I suppose that by having a computer and smartphone I’ve already lost the battle.
I wanted to see Robbie Gould kick the winning field goal.
I just want to mention that Cher would have been right at home in those costumes…
Nope. Not talking about the game. We need to rename this thread “Super Bowl Halftime and TV Commercials Discussion ONLY.” No game content.
The game did seem to just suddenly take a huge turn. I told DH that I bet that the 49ers were still saying “WTH happened???” even a day later.
That game reminded me of the Falcons-Patriots crash and burn super bowl game of 2017.
Chiefs had come back from double digit deficits two games already in the preseason. Shouldn’t have been a huge shock.
Was watching game with my dad and my wife. My mom (my dad’s bride of 59+ years) died about 10 months ago. My parents were a perfect couple (my dad is physically fine but has memory issues and my mom had physical issues but was sharp as a tack in terms of memory until the day she died). He is still lost without her. Google ad was extremely tough to watch (as was the Ipad commercial at Christmas time with a similar theme). And my brother bought one of the “hey google” products for my dad for Christmas. But its just technology that is beyond him.
I liked the Cheetos ad and the Groundhog Day ad. Like the auto parking tech but not the ad. TurboTax ads seem odd to me (and I am a huge TT fan).
With all the angst about the halftime show, I haven’t seen anyone remark on the amazing voice J-Lo’s daughter revealed during her performance. I predict that Emme Muniz has a very bright future as a performer.
I’m sorry; was there a football game on Sunday night??
Emme Muniz was adorable and very confident in front of that huge crowd!
I thought this was a great commercial year.
I mentioned the daughter. She has a fabulous voice, and is going to be some terrific performer herself. She has a great set of parents performer gene pool! I thought she was fabulous!
Apologies for missing your comment. I must have lost it in the blizzard of negative remarks.
The ratings for the halftime show were bigger than the game, so the halftime show IS the super bowl.
JLo was quick to call attention to her halftime show political statement on social media, and just as quick to retract her original statement.
Did the NFL slap her wrist for doing so? The NFL doesn’t like political statements, as demonstrated by their official policy that players must stand for the national anthem or remain in the locker room.
Last summer, the NFL partnered with Jay Z’s company Roc Nation to help with the NFL’s social justice missions, which includes responsibility for the halftime show. When Jay Z caught word of JLo’s planned stunt, he personally tried to talk her out of it, but JLo said no.
Will be interesting to see if Goodell tries to rein this in.
Are we supposed to believe that the NFL didn’t know exactly what was going to be in the show? The have rehearsals IN the stadium. This isn’t Janet’s “wardrobe malfunction” which could have been sneaked in.
Just read some minister (talk show host
. Not doing it for the attention… Lol) wants to sue the NFL since something like he’s going to hell now for watching it… So I guess turning it off or turning around if he was there wasn’t an option…
One thing that maybe gets lost here is that there is a lot of pride in the Latin communities. 2 high-profile stars are the main attraction for the superbowl. That is a big deal.
If either entertainer came in a pant suit and a turtle neck shirt /sweater and didn’t show some skin everyone would be like “what’s wrong”. I liked the halftime show (said the 58 year-old male), but the crotch shots were not tasteful.
Agree, but it’s not clear to me how much input the two ladies had in that.
