@MomOfThreeGirls I am trying to remember when my daughter received her Rutgers acceptance and I think it was January. I’ll have to check with her. Unless their process has changed? I think she then received her invitation to their Honors College and merit scholarship offer.
I hesitate to give our timelines because it was 2 years ago and I know how quickly things change.
Did anyone else find the Montclair State letter confusing? Is the audition required? It sounded optional. But the letter didn’t say, congrats, you’re admitted! either.
I think dd is going to follow up to clarify.
And FYI my dd heard from Temple and Adelphi tonight.
Just found an acceptance from Buffalo in my spam…didn’t think to check it!
@threegirlpileup ours said congrats and we have to sign up to audition again but are guaranteed to make it through to the solo and interview round for montclair. I don’t think they outright accept anyone from Dancewave from what I’ve heard.
Also we haven’t heard anything from Adelphi. What did they send?
I didn’t see the Adelphi letter so I’m not sure. A nice email encouraging her to apply/audition on campus.
Her letter from Montclair State doesn’t say that she has to come audition—it encourages her to come, but it sounds like she could also fill out an application form and that would be enough, and that she needs to send a link to a solo if she wants to be considered for a scholarship. But I had also heard that they don’t admit directly from Dancewave.
Either way she’s going to do the on-campus audition to get a feel for the school, but it would be nice to know.
We haven’t heard from Montclair, so I guess that is a no.
@elmom25 same for us for Adelphi and temple.
I should add re: Temple that she received the news of her acceptance AFTER sending in her registration for the December on-campus audition, so it’s quite possible that her email triggered the reply. I wouldn’t assume that they e sent their acceptances out.
Also I’m not 100% sure that the invitation from Adelphi wasn’t triggered by her ACT scores rather than Dancewave, especially since it doesn’t sound like anyone else has heard from them.
@threegirlpileup thanks for the info. D had already applied to Adelphi, so she gets regular admissions emails from them, but nothing dance related. She hasn’t contacted Temple at all, or even 100% decided to apply- she has a very nice free house to live in if she goes to school in Philly, so she was looking towards Philly schools mostly for that, but they don’t really feel right for her at the moment.
OK just wanted to confirm that the email my dd got from Adelphi was from general admissions and NOT from the dance department…it just arrived in the midst of other dance emails and she assumed it was dance-related as well!
DD did get a letter from Montclair today. Sounds like a third version of the letter which was for further consideration you must audition so the entire faculty can evaluate you.
@threegirlpileup how was the audition at GM this weekend? We are signed up for Nov 9 audition.
My daughter enjoyed the audition and really liked the teachers—but isn’t sure it’s the school for her. And also isn’t sure that she’s what they’re looking for, which does seem to be very specific. At this point, if she gets in, I’d be surprised if it’s where she ended up.
I will say that we had the chance to talk to a lot of current students and they are very positive about the program and the faculty, so it seems like they’re very good at picking students who will be a good fit.
We also visited Towson since we were in the area, and my dd really liked it. We were actually close to taking it off her list (which is long), but we were very impressed with what we heard and saw, and she loved the campus. It’s still on her list, at least for now.
Anyone heard from Rutgers or Purchase? Thinking we would of seen something by now?
@emilyhuntnelson we randomly got an email from the rutgers dance department saying my D had been scheduled for an auditon Feb 21. We emailed to see what that was about and no one has answered yet.
Ok great, when do you get the email? Did it go to her or to you? So strange how some email dancer and some email parent account! Thank you!
I’m still waiting on both of thoses school also. Purchase is high on my daughter list don’t know if I sould go ahead and schedule an audition… When we were at dancewave the representative said we would receive either a yes no or need to see you again response…
it went to her email - but we’re confused about the email it just randomly scheduled an audition for her we didnt get to choose a date or anything. there was also no mention of dancewave, so we’re waiting to see if this was scheduled in error since she already auditioned
Well we just got an email that she passed the audition for Rutgers/Mason Gross. So that is good! We do have to attend an audition to be considered for scholarship… Happy for the first acceptance into a dance program!
