Syracuse Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

i understand. i m just so angry that i have to potentially wait another month to hear back from them. I’m just very tired of waiting , Like this has become ridiculous. every Friday i always have to wonder weather or not I’m getting an email or if my admission acceptance form is going to pop up. since i got deferred from ed i would assume that they would look at my application first. now i find out that i have to potentially wait till April to hear back its starting to feel as if I’m wasting my time and praying for nothing.

Another week, still no email. I’m honestly done. The way this school has gone about admissions is honestly completely ridiculous. A huge, disorganized mess. Absolutely no communication from the school, broad and unclear responses to our questions, and a completely erratic schedule to release decisions. Yes, this year has been tough, but they are a big name school and they NEED to do better than this. I am physically, emotionally, and mentally unable to do this for another week, or God knows how long. I’ve been nothing but patient and understanding with this school in one of the most stressfully periods of my life, but I’m done selling myself short. I am ABSOLUTELY qualified to be accepted. More than qualified. I have heard students get in two weeks ago that are less qualified. I’m done. I’m absolutely done.

All of this for a low chance I’ll even be able to afford it, let alone get in… cuse is my top school by a longshot and I’m so disappointed and drained. I just don’t know anymore.

(Sorry - I’m incredibly angry and this is how I’m getting it out.)

this is where i could honestly just not care anymore. I’m just curious as to how long their going to stall the rest of us.

We did but most places have just offered him merit aid; nothing from FAFSA.

My son hasn’t heard about Sports Management program either. He went to 2 week Syracuse summer 2019. 3.8 UW; 35 ACT; 8 APs, lots of EC, captain of football team

I just don’t understand, I thought this week was gonna be a huge wave, and though I understand CC is a small percentage of the population, it seems like only a few people got in today.

I sent them a massive email essentially saying the same things you said here. They were my favorite/top school. I showed a ton of interest, and have exceeded qualifications to be admitted. I know people that are half the student (academically) that I am, and we’re accepted either last week or today. I’m mentally drained, upset, angry, and frustrated. This should serve as an example for the Syracuse Admissions on how NOT to proceed with the admissions process.

My daughter was accepted this evening to SU Newhouse and Maxwell joint enrollment. No advance notice of when this would occur.
I agree that their notification process has been unbelievably disorganized and poorly handled. The university needs to replace the person running Admissions. It is a terrible way to treat applicants.

unfortunately yes, those are the kinda stats that cuse usually yields rd. they don’t think a kid with a 1560 will go to their school, and if they really wanted to, they would’ve applied ED.

I agree-those are great stats. and I also got into Newhouse last week with a lower gpa but a little bit of stronger ec’s and LOTS of demonstrated interest. if some of these kids don’t get in its because of yield projection!!!

ED is not a viable option if you cannot do full sticker price. If they had EA, it would have been his first application.

I’m honestly just straight up confused at this point… there are so many people that haven’t heard. I understand there’s a lot of applicants but if all of the decisions were made, I’m confused as to why some of us have to wait longer than others. I haven’t heard and I’m frustrated because this was a top choice school. I’m expecting a rejection at this point and I just want to know:(

here are my stats for those that asked what the stats were of people that were still waiting:
UW GPA: 3.9, W GPA 4.67
SAT: 1440
APs: 4 (5 on calc ab & 5 on physics 1) and all other classes were honors
Rank: top 10% of class
Captain of sports team, pres of 3 clubs, strong letters of rec

I could be wrong but I think today was mostly dual degree applicants which would explain the drop in notifications compared to last week

It looks like most of the delayed decision are for those who applied to the more competitive majors?

Quick question

on the letter when it gives you your planned major, are you actually admitted by that major for first sem or are you free to do whatever in that college during the first sem

So much for a good nights rest…this is an absurd process. I spoke to someone in my class who was accepted last week and I know my grades are stronger with a much more rigorous program and significantly more EC’s. I was the only one who attended the Syracuse visit to my school…twice! I interviewed. I have a recommendation from another University President. I had direct communication with my Admissions rep SINCE NOVEMBER. I visited campus twice. I was offered an opportunity to switch to EDII but I couldn’t because I was worried about aid, maybe that was my mistake. I continue to write emails expressing my continued interest. The minimum I am asking for is clarity. I am considering placing my deposit on another school at this point but I am waiting for two others to announce…Syracuse has done an excellent job at making this far more stressful than it needs to be…and now to the coffee. Good luck everyone. Hang in there. Remember, it’s just a school. What you get out of your 4 years is up to you. Not the name on your hoodie. Wherever we end up is where we are supposed to be. Not saying it won’t sting, but we will ultimately end up right where we should be and we will thrive.

Appa49, putting down others shines a light on you. Maybe your attitude came across in the interview. I didn’t even know Syracuse did interviews. My DD applied to Syracuse like all the other schools she applied to and hit “submit”. Didn’t really think about it again until she got the acceptance email.

Really not putting down others here but highlighting the admissions process at this school is significantly flawed compared to the others. What I am “putting down” is the fact that this process has placed many students at a disadvantage in making a decision and it is simply unfair. Many students are waiting for this decision to decide the course of their future. That is what I am frustrated about. There is no reason for not releasing decisions at once, just 99% of other schools do. I have not put down an individual, or called out a person, but a process. For a school of this size and prestige there should be no issue in this. I congratulate your DD on the acceptance. You should be very proud of that as should DD.

And to your point about my attitude, point well taken and if that is the case I’m fine with that, I am who I am. If I am not a fit for the school, totally okay with that, then tell me, no need to drag it out.

My D applied for psychology, so probably not considered one of the harder ones, but definitely a very popular one. My neighbor’s D applied for psych and heard last week. My old old roommate’s daughter applied for architecture and hasn’t heard. Seems no rhyme or reason. The lack of communication is bad.
