Syracuse Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Here’s some hope for everyone: Good things come to those who wait. Also, have you guys always been able to see all the info when you open the online course catalog, search for classes, and searchable directory links? I never opened these links before so just wondering.

I was wondering the same thing. I noticed that too but couldn’t remember if I ever tried to open them before. I feel like I have tried to open and got nothing previously but not 100% sure.

Same I definitely feel like I did not have access to them at one time but I cannot remember.

I’m so sorry for the agonizing wait some of you are experiencing. My daughter just went through that with a California school. Her best friend got accepted and it took them another three weeks to reject my daughter.

This year is an unbelievable crazy year with admissions and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to acceptances. Hang in there those of you still waiting to hear. I know it is stressful.

My daughter was rejected this morning from BU and we are flabbergasted as is her college counselor as she had great stats, great extracurriculars, tons of volunteer work, many leadership positions, AP and DE classes and is graduating 3rd in her class of 214. BU was one of her top choices. It makes no sense — however she’s moved on and is really leaning towards Syracuse. She was accepted to Newhouse last week. We’ve never seen the school. Hoping to fly out in April and just walk around and also see the surrounding area. We are from San Diego, California and have never been to Syracuse or that part of New York. Any feedback on things we should see/check out. Also as of right now daughter is thinking of choosing either UCLA or Syracuse. She also got into GW and a couple other schools she’s already ruled out. Waiting to hear from 4 more schools but not feeling confident on those after BU decision. Thoughts on UCLA vs. Syracuse. She’s obviously interested in Communications field-maybe public relations or marketing. Possibly journalism. Any feedback would be welcome.

Yes it is quite weird how this happens. I was deferred from UGA and then rejected last week and got accepted to Newhouse that same day. I thought that I wouldn’t get into my top choice, Boston University which is more competitive. Despite many people having much better stats at BU, many that would be competitive at Ivies, they got rejected yet I got guaranteed transfer. The process is random and one decision isn’t necessarily related to another. UCLA is fantastic and I think it would be a great option for her. Weigh your options too. I have the opposite situation as I am from New York and am considering Chapman yet I feel it is too far, which is why I am leaning towards Syracuse. Either way, many of us on here have great options and we shouldn’t worry.

BU is a crazy admit. My friend’s daughter last year was rejected but accepted to UPenn. I’m guessing yield protection; maybe being from the west coast with higher stats made them think you were using them as a “safety”. We’ll never know!
Syracuse is not much of a city, on the scale of Boston and NYC. It will be a long, cold, gray winter in upstate NY (I grew up not far away). We didn’t get to explore as much as we wanted to, but I’ve hear there’s a bbq ace not to miss - I want to say Dinosaur BBQ?
I think I saw up thread the Sheraton is being used for Syracuse Covid + kids, so I would check on that if it’s where you are staying (it’s right across from campus so definitely the most convenient).

Which schools give guaranteed transfer?

I was referring to Boston University but I know that Cornell, Binghamton, and Virginia also offer guaranteed transfer. It means that you will be admitted for either spring of freshman year or fall of sophomore year if you maintain a certain average (for Boston University, it’s a 3.0). It’s pretty similar to a spring admit which many colleges offer.

In limited instances Miami, SMU, Middlebury, Cornell, USC and probably many others have spring and/or guaranteed transfer options. Some large public universities do it with their system schools in year one.

has anyone been waitlisted/rejected these past few waves or has it just been acceptances

I’ve been to Syracuse many times. My brother goes there and I was admitted last week. Since haven’t decided yet though cause they did not offer a good merit. But have many other good opinions. Syracuse doesn’t have a lot that a bigger city does. But they redoing parts of the city itself. Best place to eat is pastabilities in the city. Dinosaur BBque is good too. As far as Syracuse vs UCLA. I wld pick UCLA any day. Syracuse is bitter cold and gets a ton of snow from Nov up to end of March. I’m just use to snow being from the northeast. So might be much coming from California. But the university itself it just beautiful and Newhouse is a great school. Your daughter has a lot to be proud of. Good luck on her decision

Sheraton is being used for kids to quarantine from Covid. A bunch of frats and in dorm kids are there cause they tested positive or have to quarantine due to being expose. Know some kids there now

Hi guys. I was just re-reading my Syracuse essay and I realized I stated in-depth that I am interested in specific dual program but never actually applied for the dual program, I just applied to a single school. And I know you can only do a dual program if you apply for it as a prospective freshman so its not like I could still pursue it. Would it be confusing for admissions when I talk about a program I am interested in but didn’t apply for it? Be honest. Will I be okay? Please help I love Syracuse and really really hope to get in!!!

Rejected. Out of state. 1500 SAT, 4.0 GPA, National Merit Finalist, and National AP Scholar. Qualifier for the US American Chemistry Olympiad. I guess it was yield protection!

I was referring to @naman829, because he/she said they were rejected. So I was wondering when they received their email because maybe they sent out rejections today or yesterday.
