If misery loves company let your daughter know that my child was also rejected from BU Saturday morning but accepted to Syracuse for theatre managment, where she plans to minor at Newhouse. We are still waiting for financial aid and a few other unlikely decisions but if it works out she will likely choose Syracuse over a few highly selective schools she was admitted to.
Its funny because we visited Syracuse in the summer of 2019 and I personally hated it but for a theatre kid now branching out to other media/communications fields this could be a perfect fit.
Wow Our kids sound a bit similar but flipped. My daughter is a total theatre kid but is not pursuing it as a career. She loves doing musical theatre and has been doing it since she was 8 years old. She’s been dancing since 3 (her favorite being tap). At one point in high school she actually considered a career in stage management or direction. I’m hoping she can somehow do some performing at whatever school she lands at as I can’t imagine that not being a part of her life. She literally sings show tunes all the time.
you can apply into some of the dual major programs and still be guaranteed to graduate in time!!! It just depends on which one though…for example, newhouse/whitman dual is much more rigorous and harder to graduate on time transferring in (let along get into), whereas you can transfer into the ischool newhouse dual and probably still be fine. it also makes a difference if you are starting out in one of those majors…for example if you are already in newhouse and you want to add on the ischool or even Whitman dual, that’s even more possible. I don’t know as much about the other dual degrees, but assuming they are not as competitive as the Whitman and newhouse one, you should be fine!
Yes thank you. I did not know this at the time but I heard that many cannot finish Newhouse-Whitman in four years or drop one school due to low grades. I did not get Newhouse-Whitman but rather Newhouse which is probably best for me since I can just minor in Whitman and will be able to graduate on time and with a higher GPA.
Yes I plan on doing the same thing!!! Majoring in Newhouse and minoring in Whitman. You are required to have a minor in Newhouse (unless you have a dual major I believe), and you can always double minor so if you want a more rigorous course load you can always take that path as well!
Has anyone called the admissions office to ask? Will there be many acceptances or should we assume most remaining decisions are rejections or WL? Have any RD rejections even come out yet?
not sure! i’m thinking maybe a little bit each day until the first. hoping it’s all just today. the suspense is killing me. i’m waiting to hear back from Newhouse for journalism or Maxwell for political science
Just got off the phone with admissions - can’t say when they’ll be done. Don’t assume you’re rejected because you haven’t heard. Can’t say they’ll be done by April 1. Basically, no help at all. @QballMom@akaashikeiji
