Syracuse Class of 2028 Official Thread

Yes there a very very small glimmer for today, given some non international applicants have received decisions, based on previous years more likely a handful next week and then open up on 15th. Last year rejections were as late as April.

Scroll up thread to last Friday/weekend. There’s mention of a handful that came out last Friday. I’m with @OregonMom2024 - maybe a handful of decisions today and next Friday, but the bulk will be the 15th. I should caveat that with every other one of S24’s schools this year I have read the tea leaves wrong. As an example, I kept insisting to S24 that the bulk of VT EA decisions wouldn’t come out until late February and then they dropped them on February 2. I’ve just stopped predicting them in my house. But happy to wildly speculate here!

There were just a tiny amount of decisions released prior to March 24 last year. Because aid offers are included, and due to this year’s FAFSA debacle, I’ll be surprised if decisions come out sooner than late March. But you never know.

This was in an email from Syracuse in early Feb:
For students who are admitted Regular Decision, we will proceed the same way. If you are admitted, we will issue an estimated award using your CSS Profile data until we are able to receive and process FAFSA form information.

Hey even a broken clock is right twice a day! Maybe it’s your turn to be right :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

They said timing isn’t impacted by Fafsa. Thankfully they are a css school.

Ah, well they use the CSS anyway, so I suppose FAFSA is just to verify their numbers are correct. Not including aid offers with admissions is a new thing. Supposedly FAFSA info is being released to schools in the next couple of weeks. Perhaps if they get it in time they will include in decisions. At any rate, last year there were no FAFSA issues and the decisions still came out pretty late.

Love your screen name …but now it’s gonna be in my head all day.

Anyone know if the portal updates prior to a decision release? I vaguely recall someone saying it didn’t last year but that could be one of the other schools. Tough to keep it straight these days

The FAFSA information is necessary for the award of any Federal loans & Pell Grants. Syracuse can guess as to what that might be and may even award a preliminary package (lots of the CSS schools seem to be taking that approach).

From what I’ve read, there’s no portal astrology with SU. They seem to keep it locked down until decisions are released. If anyone here has followed the UTK thread over the last week or so the whole portal astrology thing will drive people mad - they had spreadsheets and all sorts of other efforts to divine answers. In some ways it feels like a blessing to not have that happen - seems to add another layer of stress to an already super stressful process.

…but it’s fun. Good on Syracuse for running a tight ship.

I’ve been following the craziness on UTK thread as well. I’m sure it wouldn’t be so comical if I were one of the parents/students in the thick of it.

Agree on astrology with SU. If people look back at years past there’s no astrology with the portal. Only people trying to guess at what’s driving the cohorts of decisions as they come out in waves.

And for all the portal astrology, looks like most everyone on that thread was waitlisted. Tough admissions season all around it seems.

I know, I couldn’t believe how many people were waitlisted over there.

I hope we all have better luck with Syracuse  :palms_up_together:

Anyone know what time decisions typically come out? Is it like 5 pm est tradionally

Just looked back through last year’s thread and around 5pm seems about right. After re-reading the thread, I’m fairly convinced today is not the day and probably more like the 22nd. But take anything I say with an enormous grain of salt.

I would expect to see some changes in the immediate area of the Main Campus over the next few years. The University just announced a few days ago the construction of two new residence halls (one ground breaking in the next few months) as they are implementing initiatives based on student feedback conducted three years ago. Further development of the surrounding area is part of their multi-year master campus framework.

Good to know! It’s really the only negative for my D. Marshall street was kinda depressing when she was there for summer program. So much potential.

Syracuse is providing estimates until the final FAFSA numbers are released in late March-early April. They advised that previously communicated aid packages will be adjusted accordingly based on those official figures.
