TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

No BIMS news ?

I spoke with the recruiter for my area, and he said to hold tight and that decisions are going out this week and early next week. This process is hard, but I’m constantly telling myself that I will only get in if I’m meant to be there. If not, there is a better place for me, just like the rest of you.

@soph0913 all majors

It’s unfortunate that there are very few people who will be fully admitted. I feel like there was never a ā€œwaveā€ of full review admits this year. I have many friends at my school who are in top quarter of class with high 1300s (but not high enough on reading section) and it sounds like most if not all will not get in. I hope I’m wrong but it seems like this is how it’s going. Numerous of my friends last year got in with low 1300s. I know it’s ok but just a little disappointing. I also understand stats are only part of the process but it is hard to compare essay/ extra curricular on a thread.

@2019grad19 Standards to get in are harder this year. Someone mentioned population increase is the result of increased application numbers. Thus, this means more top 10% admits and more academic admits, which A&M admits automatically. This leaves less room for review admits. Even worse, they’re planing on decreasing the class size from 10,700ish to between 10,000-10,500. Thus, this makes this year’s standards to get in harder.

The population increase led to UT beginning this year only admit top 6% instead of 7% like they used to last year, which also forces people in that margin to apply to A&M as a safety school because they were no longer auto admit to UT. This in turn also increases application numbers.

@dyinginhs yeah, they probably just messed up the code a little bit when they deleted the message that was there

I applied for communications…is EVERY major filled? Or are we just talking about Mays and Eng.?

OK, so I am feeling really down. It is 2/13 and his AIS still says in review. This is our first time applying to any college and just want to see if not hearing anything by now means this dog don’t hunt. Anyone have insights on not hearing at this point?

My son applied for Mathematics. Does anyone know if there are spots open for acceptance in this field?

@frantic mom Last year, the last of the pathway decisions came out Feb 23. PSA March 8

@collegehelp888 That has never been an impacted major before. The question for A&M is how many more full offers of admission they can offer to the university, regardless of major.

Can you give me a readers digest of what pathway and PSA decisions are? Thanks!

@Thelma2 He is in the top 35% with a 27 on ACT. He was involved in a few sports, clubs, volunteer work, and worked a couple of jobs throughout high school. What are his chances of full admit? Blinn Team?

My son applied in October for mechanical engineering. SAT 1340, top 1/3 in class, lots of EC. He is still listed as in review. I guess we should assume the worst?

@franticmom I’m not sure there is anyone on this forum that can definitively predict a decision for your son. I might have missed if you posted stats, but at this point those that have been here for a while are just giving educated guesses based on historical data. Each year is unique and each application is unique. You mentioned that this is the first time applying to any college, so I’m assuming you just meant first year—not first (only) application. Your son may have excellent stats, but I definitely wouldn’t put all your eggs into one basket.
By the sound of things here, full admit chances are slim for anyone still waiting to hear. TEAM and Gateway are trickling out. As many have mentioned, a Plan B (and C and D!) is a good thing! No need to give up hope just yet, but having options is always a good idea.

I heard friday is the day. Anyone else here this?

@TMImomof2 A lot of people are saying this week and Friday does seem like the most likely day. But if not this week then it should be next. If anything I hope its soon

@frantic mom

The Texas A&M-Blinn ā€œTransfer Enrollment at A&Mā€ (TEAM) Program is a collaborative, co-enrollment partnership between a major university (Texas A&M) and a community college (Blinn). My daughter’s college counselor talked to our A&M advisor today and he said we should know by Spring Break ?

Does anyone know if all Ag and Life Sciences spots have been filled?? I know it’s not as common but I’ve been wanting to go to A&M for my entire life and I’ve received absolutely nothing yet. I’m a review admit and submitted my application mid september. I did show interest in Blinn TEAM bbut haven’t received any info and am currently still under review. does anybody have anything. I cant sleep knowing my whole future may be torn to shreds.

@scaredfor4 As much as we all want to know whether or not our majors have been filled, none of us really know. We would honestly just be guessing if we said that there were spots open. Everyone is saying that Mays and Engineering is full but we haven’t heard about any other majors being full
