When do you get your Aggie Ring if you’re on Blinn Team?
Lol @texantexantexan take a breath man. 90 credits total and 45 must be at tamu. You’ll be right on track with all of your classmates!
A couple questions. Does anyone else’s Application in the Howdy portal still say “Under Review”? Also, would the ‘change major’ option help at all. I mean, some departments obviously fill up faster than others. I currently have Biology as first choice and Public Health as second.
@StarplexPortal Mine is still under review. I heard that Public Health was completely full.
@StarplexPortal - my son is still under review also. I think there are a lot of people still under review. As people have said, you’re still in the game … ?
@StarplexPortal I also have biology listed as my first major and I’m still under review. Many of my friends who are looking to be in the college of science are still under review also. Just be patient. You’re fine.
I know that every one has to make decisions that are right for their individual goals but I see people here that are equating the PSA offers to denials. I strongly disagree with these thoughts. Both of my sons were offered admission through the PSA and I consider it a God-send. They went to A&M-Corpus Christi and Tarleton and I was so happy that their freshman classes had under 100 students when the same classes at A&M-CS may have had 300 or more. Each son made PSA friends at the smaller campuses who came with them when they moved to the College Station campus. My sons had certain classes that they had to take and they had to maintain a B average but they were GUARANTEED admission to the College Station campus for their sophomore year. You can’t imagine how comforting that was to each of them to know that, if they did their part, A&M was promising that they would be Aggies. My oldest son graduated in December of 2017 as a full-fledged, maroon bleeding Aggie with his Aggie ring on his finger. No one blinked an eye at the fact he didn’t start in CS. My second son is well on his way to doing the exact same thing. Both of my boys only wanted to be Aggies from the time they could walk and the PSA program helped them successfully do just that. If you really want to be an Aggie, A&M GUARANTEES that you can through the PSA. No doubts about it. I consider it a wonderful option.
@2xAggieMom so so true. It is definitely comforting to know there is a guarantee! And this year… holy cow, tamu better buckle up cause sophomores are coming in force in 2020!!!
Thank you for these words @2xAggieMom. It doesn’t help that the PSA landing page has this as its first statement: “Program for System Admission
If you are denied freshman admission you may be offered an opportunity to participate in the Program for System Admission (PSA).”
That “denied” word can be deflating to a hopeful. I’m glad to hear your boys are doing well. I went to Tarleton for my degree (actually turned down a 4-year scholarship to TAMU after realizing that this small town girl would drown at TAMU). TSU is a great place to start and even finish if you fall in love with the small classes and personal attention. Good luck to all!
Good Morning! Thank you all for pointing out that PSA is not a denial and shouldn’t be considered one. I was under the assumption that he would have to apply again and compete again and wait…again for transfer to CS from a PSA school. After reading the posted link to the page (thankyouthankyouthankyou) I see that isn’t the case, it is a matter of meeting the requirements and then filling out the paperwork, correct? My son would be LA college BS PoliSci. Can someone confirm this? In addition, I realize IF he gets PSA (right now that is our best hope) he may not get an offer to all the system schools and could only get admitted to one. Is there a link or page where we can compare the system schools other than niche? Thanks so much and Hang in there–only 2 days left in Feb!
@aggiemomhelp How does the PSA pathway help TAMU if instead of having a big freshman class they have a big sophomore class?
@libbyshims Good morning! You will need to apply to A&M and complete a transfer application via Apply Texas or The Coalition but it looks like they’ll waiver the application fee, you check the PSA box plus you won’t need to submit another Essay A. If you check out this link, in the FAQ section, the application/transfer process is asked/answered there. Hope this helps

@mrsqster Weedout classes Freshman year? Auto-admits drop out? I dunno but I have a feeling it has to do with this. Also, people change their minds and stay where they are. Who knows? I found this link: https://accountability.tamu.edu/All-Metrics/Mixed-Metrics/Student-Retention-and-Graduation
Because members of the freshman class drop put, flunk out, wash out, transfer or join the circus thus leaving room.
also, students in PSA may decide they like the smaller system school and stay.
@libbyshims if you meet the PSA requirements you are guaranteed admission. Check out the A&M System web page for links to all member schools.
Because by taking 10% as auto admits a lot of those go to terrible schools so a top student gets like a 1000 or lower on the SAT. They aren’t actually qualified to go to college so drop out in the first year. There will be plenty of room for the students who had to get in via other means but are good students and prove themselves by doing a year in another college and transferring in. Thats why this system is garbage and the fact they are embracing it even for next year boggles m mind.
I agree that PSA is a great option IF your major participates. There are only 8 colleges that participate though. It guarantees transfer into cstat, but not necessarily your major of choice. My daughter is interested in business. MAYS specifically states you can not do PSA and transfer under a different major and then apply to Mays once you are on the main campus. This means for her PSA is not the best option, and she will most likely decline a PSA offer and do straight BLINN if not accepted full or TEAM. If Mays participated I would happily send her off to Commerce. I think spending the first year at a smaller campus is a great transition year. There is so much movement at TAMU they will easily have friends follow as well as make new ones.
@trinley joining the circus is my guess! thanks for the humor…we needed that! LOL
It was kind of rhetorical. I am pointing out that I think it is flawed. Students that have taken college classes and succeeded or even excelled are being offered PSA to prove themselves again. I understand that for some that they dont care how they get to A&M as long as they get there but for us it doesnt make sense to establish oneself for a year at one place only to transfer especially having close to 40 college credits coming out of high school.
@2xAggieMom - thank you for the information about PSA. Can you tell me what your kiddos majored in? Thank you!
