I have been a reading the board for months. Daughter is OOS and applied back in August. She has a 1330 SAT and a 3.37 GPA. Applied to Forensic Science and is still in review. I haven’t read any Forensic Science majors results for the fall. Just wondering when we will get a decision. This process has been painful at best. I understand the large number of applications but Penn State had over 77,000 and got back to most already. We have plan B, C and D but would like to know one way or another. Fingers crossed we will hear back sooner than later.
@BellaDad Go to https://applicant.tamu.edu/, click on 4- Howdy connect, enter your student’s NetID and Password. At the top under The yellow Howdy you will see three or six tabs; Home, Applicant, My Record for three tabs and once you receive an offer/accept it, the website updates the additional three tabs: My Finances, Student Life and My Howdy.
@BellaDad It may take two days or so after acceptance to update to the six tabs.
@Peanie5619 tabs update before decisions unless you are asked to accept the offer on ais. Otherwise the first indicator is 6 beautiful tabs in howdy. However like it’s been said… psa will not get tabs.
My son still has 3 tabs, and is in review. But, just noticed inside the manage applications link that the option to change majors has been removed, but it still reads inside the AIS link. What would that indicate? Anyone notice that option changing in the manage applications prior to receiving any offer, other than PSA?
@rtjhopefulmom my son’s change major is gone too. didn’t the withdraw button also say cancel/withdraw?
Its funny that A&M has the excuse of “we have a record number of applicants this year so we need additional time to release decisions” like almost every college has had a record number of applicants and by no means should decisions not come on time. It
s all about planning effectively and working to get them done. Like its March 1st and most of us still don
t have an answer. Why not just hand out the psa`s and denials and get it over with? Very frustrated with this process.
I also noticed that I am missing the withdrawal application and change major button
@sma1234 March 1 for a decision is reasonable and not uncommon. My son will hear from his last two schools by 6pm tonight. After March 1, well that’s another story and I agree it really isn’t fair, especially with new student orientation sign ups and room selection kicking in already at most schools. Best of luck to all and congrats to the recent Gateway admits!
@hmmtlm There are many universities that won’t begin their admissions decisions until today and some are in April. A&M is always into March for review admits, as is published on the admissions page of their website.
If A&M did not offer the various pathway decisions for 2324 students who accepted their admissions decisions, with the admissions decision offers above that number, Fall 2018 and those same pathways for Fall 2019, the process would have been finished a long time ago.
Penn State is not required to process and admit the top 10% of all of the states applicants as well as have a pathway for academic admit applicants, which must be separated from the holistic review applicants, placed into majors and can only know how many full offers of admission can be made after the application deadline has passed.
Simply comparing the number of applicants a university receives is not an apples to apples comparison.
@Fullofhope23 Yes, I think it will be a full year. You have to have at least 24 transfer hours. These are hours earned AFTER high school. This number does not include dc or ap hours. I think students cannot earn this many hours in the summer/fall semester after graduating. Feel free to double check with admissions.
The button in manage applications only says, withdraw…did it say cancel/withdraw before? The amount of times we’ve looked, you would think I would remember!!! AIS options all read the same. I feel like we are going crazy at our home, trying to notice every single change. I know I am in good company with our anxious feelings.
Manage Application says Change Major or Withdraw Application - has always said this. I took and saved snapshots. 8-}
When the buttons disappeared last year, usually precedes a PSA offer. No changes seen on my son’s AIS or Manage Applications yet.
@JaceyK it usually has two buttons, Change Major and Withdraw application. I also have noticed that I’m missing the change major one.
@rtjhopefulmom i could swear it said cancel/withdraw too. i’ve only checked it 80 billion times since my son applied. his AIS looks the same as usual…complete and in review. that heading will be seared in my memory for the rest of my life. i say let’s get an alcoholic beverage and see where this change takes us. :))
when you guys say that they aren’t sending full admissions anymore, does that mean it full for ALL the majors or just one major
My daughter’s Manage Application still has Withdraw Application button, but nothing else
@Amariegiles Regarding the Corps calling, I wouldn’t take it to mean anything yet, except that they haven’t been told to remove your son from their recruiting list. That’s a good thing, but I wouldn’t put weight in it yet. I’ll say some prayers for your kiddo though!!
@tisulli 80 billion times today, right? I think that’s close to how many times I’ve checked. Just hand out the PSA’s and denials already! Only thing I can think of is they have a select few gateway spots left that they are still figuring out and then the rest will be PSA/denied.
