When change of majors goes away, Psa typically follows.
@kkskkw incorrect on the hours my friend. If you are straight transfer (not PTA) then all grades college hours count (AP doesn’t) towards your transfer of 24 credits. The deal is you must have required courses and most wont have that with dual credit. Math being a big one for most majors as well as science etc. check your intended major requirements and plan your summer and fall accordingly. Also, most credits need to be completed before applying or they defer you til fall grades are in. Hope this helps. PTA and PSA are different stricter requirements but guaranteed admission.
Just makes me nervous. If my son’s doesn’t change at all (still shows both buttons on Manage Applications), could that meant outright denial is coming? Omg what if his AIS stays that way forever?! ?
Typically, in the past, when the change major application button disappears, that means a PSA offer is coming soon for that applicant, I regret to say.
I realize this is a difficult realization for many that a decision will be coming shortly and it isn’t the one that was hoped for. Please take a moment and visit the PSA thread, if this is something that you might consider.
You will be offered one to several schools in which to choose from. The spots are not unlimited for PSA and the spots at some schools can fill up quickly.
If you accept the PSA offer, A&M will then send everything to that institution, similar as they do for the TEAM admissions offers, when they have to send everything over to Blinn College. This process can take a day or so.
@sma1234 March 1 is within normal range for decisions to be released. How long you have waited for an admissions decision since application is irrelevant. The admissions web page, if you ever read it, states late March.
Notification of Decision
We make decisions throughout the year. All decisions for spring will be posted by December and fall by late March at HOWDY via the Applicant tab.http://admissions.tamu.edu/freshman/admitted
While it is true that many other schools have not yet started sending offers and denials these other schools have also not advertised that there are no further offers of admission to their school available. I think this is the frustration people have with the process. I’d gladly wait until March 15 if there was some chance of admittance. My child is not reading this board and still thinks she has a chance when it’s pretty obvious it’s already over.
So again I ask is there a reason for delaying the denials?
@kkskkw I would love to know your experience with the program and how it all worked. I would love for you to stick around here and help folks navigate it, if that works for you. It is a program I just don’t know much about and how it works except what is online. Maybe it’s own thread would be a good idea.
@Thelma2 I will do my best. He did Gateway at TAMUG. My daughter will be doing TEAM this year in CS. It will definitely be an interesting comparison! I’m just happy THEY are both happy!
I’ve only gone in directly through AIS, and only looked in Howdy a few times just to check tabs. He gave up checking weeks ago. I never checked the “Manage Applications” tab, but it only has ‘Withdraw Application’ when I checked just now. AIS still gives option to change major.
If I had to guess, if others are saying the disappearance of the ‘Change Major’ typically indicates a PSA offer then that would be a good sign for those who still see the change major option. We are not in that number, unfortunately. @JaceyK we are rooting for y’all!
@Jasperlady
Denials usually go out after all other admission decisions are exhausted. We have seen some offers of PSA already go out and by some of the signs some are seeing on their portals, with the disappearing of the buttons, it looks like PSA is going to come out again soon.
I was surprised to see some denials reported already third party. To my knowledge, and unfortunately I have been swamped the past few days, I think what we have seen for denials was someone on this forum knew of one but I don’t recall any CC member who is posting receiving a denial. If I am wrong, I am sure that will be corrected shortly.
All of the applications are scored by hand by real people. After they have gone through the applications for a decision release, they have to enter the info into the computer for each applicant that will go to the individual AIS. If it were simply a matter of assigning every aspect of an application a numerical number, inputting that into a computer to let it select the highest scoring applicants, the process would be so much faster but also non human that will put every applicant back to being just a bunch of numbers.
@Thelma Yeah I understand and see per the website but the inconsistency and inaccurate answers by the admissions desk is throwing me off. Ever since I applied for early action engineering in october they said all engineering applicants who applied by early action should receive decision by end of december when i called them and reportedly stated it. Then all engineering applicants were deferred till end of january to which I was sure I would receive a decision. February came and still nothing and now its March and Im holding on to my last string of hope.
Weird but the change major option and withdraw application option are still present on my manage applications tab and main ais don`t know if it means much though.
I am so sorry @sportingclaymom and @laxmom2000 It isn’t what we all hoped for. I know your kiddos will bloom where they land. They have a great support system in y’all.
