TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

Parking Pass: going along with the same perspective I used above in the sports pass post. We purchased the parking pass as a high schooler on Apr 9, permit and wait list came out July 7. Freshman year at Tx A&M, purchased May 4, permit and wait list came out on July 13.

Thanks for those dates, @kaydeeloo ! My daughter was admitted in September, and has been trying to stay on top of things. We’re headed out of the country for spring break, and I was fearful we might miss sports and/or parking pass selection. Whew!

@slbtwb , it’s too early for both. We waited until after NSC to purchase sports pass and we were fine. They will have information there regarding the sports pass. Also, important information for new Aggies, read the info given at NSC regarding “pooling tickets” . For popular games, your child will want to pool with upper class man in order to get tickets. My daughter is a first generation Aggie and didn’t understand the importance of pooling until the Alabama game! If they don’t know anyone, don’t stress, they will meet people at FISH Camp and thru their orgs that can help.

Parking - too soon. When it is available, you will select up to three choices. Also, you cannot use your A&M parking permit for RELLIS or Blinn campus so your child either needs to take the bus or they will need a parking permit for RELLIS. We bought our daughter a parking permit for RELLIS and for A&M, for convenience because she lives off campus.

Is there a major difference between the RELLIS campus and the bryan campus?

@AggieDreamin I wouldn’t think Blinn students can purchase sports passes-there aren’t even enough for all TAMU students & Blinn students don’t have TAMU i.d’s. You can purchase season tickets thru 12th Man site.

if my change major button is still there should i be in fear of a denial or just the opposite?

@noah4151 We are choosing to believe it means they are still trying to find a spot!

@alstro, fingers crossed
I’ve check with all my friends and none of them have theirs

@noah4151 I see you have 1st major as Public Health - McAllen is still a possibility if no spots are available on CSTAT or Blinn Team. Do you know what majors your friends picked?

@WaitingAgg RELLIS is a much newer facility on a developing campus. It is about 12 miles outside of CS/Bryan but there is a bus (#47) that runs every 25mins from the main A&M campus that any student in the area can use, otherwise if you have your own transport there is a large carpark for which you’d need to buy a parking pass. Things are a happening at this RELLIS campus - it has a promising future. Here’s a link to their website and they have a campus/who we are type video presentation. https://rellis.tamus.edu/about-us/.
You can’t mix/match classes between Bryan & RELLIS so it’s worth investigating if you can get all the CC classes you need at RELLIS before making a campus selection. Bryan obviously offers everything class wise as it’s an established set up. Bryan is much more in the hub of things. I’d say if you’re seriously considering Blinn straight & traveling isn’t an issue for you - it’s def worth a visit to both campuses to get a feel as to which one is a fit for you

@52AG82 Y’all be sure to read the “New Aggie” website, which says this
Parking: Online registration will begin in April and close in early July. — Sports Pass: Incoming and new students may begin registering for sports options in late May.

@kaydeeloo thanks! She is keeping up with all of it, but we’re always afraid of missing out. Between Roomate Finder opening, housing selection (supposedly opening up slightly earlier than last year), parking pass, sports pass, Fish Camp sign up, NSC, etc
it’s a full time calendar job! ?

Vehicle permit during registration for Fall 2018 opened April 4 -July 11, 2018, when it closed. Parking Permits began being mailed July 20. http://transport.tamu.edu/Parking/faqpermit/dates.aspx

It was similar for the two years prior, when my son started Fall 2016. In looking at the receipt, we purchased May 13 and he was able to secure a spot in Southside Garage close to Mosher. Garage rates increased $14 from Fall '16 to Fall '18.

This forum, as that time, had told us to purchase as soon as it opened for incoming freshmen, to secure a spot, as the spots in garages and lots assigned to dorm areas do sell out.

Being that they opened in April, and we purchased in May, the April month may be for upper classmen living on campus and then it opens to freshmen.

The Parking Services website has a section on the right hand side about new student parking and NSC parking. FAQs.
Garages and lots can have game restrictions, where students have to move their cars by a certain time. http://transport.tamu.edu/Parking/faqpermit/info.aspx#rates

Permits hang from the rear view mirror (there are adhesive ones available) and they can be replaced for $10.

Has PSA been confirmed for those who have no change of major button?

Not for my daughter @GabrielTamez - I really thought we would have an answer by now, since there were changes to the portal on Friday.

@JaceyK business, communication, bio, to name a few

Nothing yet; buttons went away early Saturday morning.

I bet they’re gonna hit us with the decision letters all at the same time so that we won’t try and predict it >:)

I’m going to have to drive from campus to Rellis and then campus to Blinn Bryan for comparison. This town is small and very little traffic. 12 miles sounds about right, but it’s going away from town. you literally take one road from campus and you’re there. But i’ll do the drive tomorrow. I’m curious and maybe that will help some of you out.

@AggieMomhelp I agree - It really doesn’t take long and that main road (the one that goes past the Med Center) is dual carraigeway both sides - so nice long straight road
