My daughter is still in review and is Public Health too! Maybe this is good news since we know so many are waiting ??
@Thelma2 Must have been my mistake. I swear when we first checked one of her friendās interested majors, Economics, wasnāt on the website, but appeared on her PSA offer. Now that I am checking again they are listed on both. Sorry!

Sitting here trying to help my student accept his psa offer. It says view schools/offer. We are clicking the box for Corpus, as well as put in his major. Then hit submit. After we hit submit it returns us to the AIS page, but gives no confirmation that the selection was submitted. Just looks like it did before. Is it supposed to say anything after you make selection confining anything??
@aggx4 Did admissions say why they suggested direct transfer rather than PTA? I spoke to admissions today and couldnāt get a feel for what the ācatchā is. It seems so close to a transfer application but is guaranteed. It looked like she would have to take a class she has AP credit for, and three classes require a B, but thatās it. The advisors for her major said they werenāt very familiar with it so they couldnāt comment on it.
@Hailbop16 I did see that zoology was one way in through PTA and weāll ask about that on Friday. I wish there was a way to PM you. I will share whatever info I find out on Friday. We are visiting Texas Tech on Monday.

In my daughters class of 60, I would guess maybe 15 were offered full admit, 5 were offered Blinn Team, havenāt heard of any Gateway yet, guessing some received PSA this week
Talked to admissions today and they recommend my daughter takes the PTA route and that is her plan
@alstro Also very interested why they would recommend transfer vs. PTA which is guaranteed basically?
PTA is tough for kids with credit coming out of Hs because you have to take 30 credits after high school to qualify. I think Iām remembering that correctly.
I would love to know the stat on how many successfully complete PTA in a year. Same with PSA. Surely tamu has this info. Just not sure how to get it.
Iāll reaxh out tomorrow to my admissions friend to see how or if we can get this. I just honestly only hear people going straight transfer.
Good friend is still in review as public health too. She is 11% with 1280 SAT. HOSA officer 2 yrs, state HOSA winner, 4 yr athlete, lots of volunteer hours, and good rec. lettersā¦she is worried it means McAllen offer is coming.
Howdy! Got my answer from TAMU today. Not the one I was looking for but at least I heard soemthing am I right?
Date Applied: September 2018

Been accepted to Baylor, Mary-Hardin Baylor, Iowa State, Central Arkansas
My 2nd choice was Baylor and loved everything about it but it is a tad out of the budget of my family (even with the scholarships lol). I think I will take the PSA and join my friends at Tarleton State for a year as they have their own Corps there that might prepare me for TAMUās Corps. My end goal is to be a USAF Pilot, so I need to go through ROTC in college to become an Officer! Thanks for all the helpful info! Been following this thread for a while! Good luck to those who have and have not heard! As for the others who got PSA, a year isnāt to bad to become a future Aggie is it? Hahaha
Hi just posting on here!! I was offered PSA last year, and I ultimately decided to the PTA route. I will be transferring to A&M this fall! It was doable to have 30 hours post high school graduation. I took 16 hours last semester and Iām currently takeing 16 hours now, I will have also have about 12-17 AP credit hours depending on if I choose to accept them or not. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask me!!
@Thelma2 Got my answer from A&M yesterday and wanted to share.
Date Applied: October 21, 2018
Major: Communications
SAT/ACT with Sub scores: 1400 (700 math, 700 reading)
Class rank: 26% (4.2 GPA)
Admission decision: PSA
Admission Decision Date: March 4, 2018
EC/Leadership: NHS 3 years, Varsity golf team (state team) all 4 years and co-captain, church leader in kids ministry, shift manager at work
Although I am disappointed and very much wished to be Aggie, I will not be taking the PSA route. I have applied to many other schools like Northeastern, Colby, Colgate, and Boston University. I do want to go A&M or UT (capped at UT) so I may just go to U of H for one year then transfer to A&M. I am unsure if this is easy or not so if someone could give me some insight that would be great !! Thank you !
@nervoussenior12356 first let me say that your stats are fantastic. You are doing to succeed wherever you go and then transfer into tamh. Communications isnāt that competitve and thereās also ag communication. Make sure you follow the transfer requirements. Do your best to get As and Bs and apply as soon as you complete 24 total grades credits (dual credit counts in that gpa). Wish ya the best.
Also, jump over to the transfer page for tamu. You can get some great insight from current students going through the process.
Depending on what you want to do with communications @nervoussenior12356 - TTU has a very developed communication department. Itās a town with a newspaper, TV stations and pr opportunities for internships.
Someone may have answered this, but the Rellis Campus is an option for PTA correct? (Assuming it has your major).
@stillhopeful581 Rellis is a branch of Blinn which is a Texas Community College so it would qualify. What is your major? I would recommend syncing with the advisor to see if there are any gotyas. Depending on the major you have you may find that they do not have all the classes you need.
Thankfully I am just Allied Health/Pre-Nursing which is found most campuses, and also at Rellis. I am scheduling an appointment with an advisor for next week so I can hopefully move forward with PTA!
Another question;
It is said that with they typically donāt encourage students with a lot of AP/Dual credit to do PTA. Is the reason for that due to it requiring after HS credits (while hard earned credit goes unused)?
@tyra2k8 My daughter is still in review and will most likely go to Blinn with the PTA route for biology. I was wondering if it is hard being in CSTAT and not being included in all of the A&M extracurriculars, sororities, and football games. Thoughts? What is your major? Did you attend Blinn Bryan campus? Did you find extracurricular activities? Do you take a bus to Blinn or drive? Thank you for sharing your experience!
@stillhopeful581 I would talk to an advisor for sure! My daughter is planning to change from BIMS to Psychology BS and the Psychology advisor said that she didnāt recommend PTA for kids with incoming AP/DC however, for Allied Health you may find a more competitive environment that would make PTA more advisable. Also, I am not sure how it works with nursing but for med school they donāt want you taking core science classes at a community college.
Well my son received his PSA offer yesterday. Heās already moved on and will be attending Texas Tech! Just going to say how impressed I am with kids scores and all that they do these days. Very proud of my sonā¦A&M is missing out on a great kid!!!
