Wow @BlueBayouAZ. I need to ask how it’s turning out for my D’s school as there are several with perfect SAT/ACT as well as 57 national merit semifinalists.
I look forward to learning what this year’s effective acceptance rate was for TAMU compared with previous years.
@BlueBayouAZ agree! We’re in a large, competitive school & district. Easily the same kids that got UT CAP this year, were pretty much the same kids that got TAMU PSA. Shocked at the few kids we know who got TEAM and Gateway…truly can’t figure it out? It would’ve been the opposite in years past.
Solid back up plans are needed, indeed!
Yea @TexasTrue - It seemed particularly brutal this year. She had a ton of extracurriculars too. Not sure her exact rank - but it was somewhere between 18%-22%. She was not a NMSF - I think she performed better on the ACT than the SAT (upper 1400s) and I don’t think she retook it after getting a perfect ACT. Our school has 11 NMSF second in our district.
Around 3 pm today will be 48 hours since button disappeared - betting they are waiting until after 5 so they don’t have to field any calls before the weekend. LOL. I guess I assumed that a decision followed 24 hours after the buttons disappeared but obviously that is wrong.
My son will is High School class of 2021. His interests are Urban Planning & Econ (still indecided which will be major/minor). He’s on the cusp of 1Q right now as a sophomore (class rank of 25.4%!!!) so we’re working hard to get him over that line and firmly into 1Q territory! When we did Aggieland Saturday last month, we had a great information session with the dept heads in Architecture. They are in the process of rolling out new degree plan options specifically for Urban Planning that will have options for choosing tracks within the BS-URPN as well as 3 + 2 programs in conjunction with Mays, COLA, and fhe Bush School. If you want to me message me your email
I’m more than happy to share the PowerPoint witj you from the info session.
We were also told that there is (or will be!) a Blinn-Team path for Urban Planning majors.
I don’t know if you’re familiar with Camp Arch, but my son has applied for the Urban Planning summer camp this July.
@aponiventoy PSA is participation at a TAMU system school (all are 4 year universities in Texas) and PTA is participation at ANY Texas community college. They have a page describing each on tamu’s website.
