Thanks @JaceyK and @Thelma2 . I’ll read through these. It’s now between PSA, Purdue and UH. We have more than a month to make that decision. Daughter is planning of going to dental school and will be majoring in Health
I am looking for any PSA - Corpus bound female student that might be interested in sharing a room as my daughter just got PSA and is seriously considering going to CC or a year and then transferring to College Station - also would love feedback from any families who have had students attend CC on PSA and then transfer.
@aponiventoy They have taken it off of their web pages but some of the text still shows up on searches, is that the system schools do not have unlimited seats for PSA offers. Over 10K offers of PSA went out last year and even if only 1000 opted to participate, that would be a lot of students incoming to the the top 3-4 system schools. While you technically have until May 1 to decide, the spots may fill up before then, as we saw with Blinn engineering Academy.
@BlueBayouAZ Thanks for your additional work in teasing out the common data set stuff for me. Much appreciated>
@AggieMomhelp Some time ago (maybe January) you mentioned something about a program within a program or somesuch in the Liberal Arts School at TAMU for undergrad econ majors. I think it was called TIR or TIIR. I have googled the heck out of it, but can’t find anything. I am crazy??? OK, don’t answer that. Do you recall this? Thanks for your help.
I mentioned MS in finance. Could that be it? You can apply as early as sophomore year. There are also some 5 year masters within Econ. And I would never think anyone is crazy lol because that would make me crazy too!!! ?
I got PSA. I’m honestly unsure of what to do? Logically, I won’t be able to have 12 hours a semester because I’ve already done most of the “liberal arts” courses. Imagine Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry and Physics in the same year!
@aggiegurl, we are meeting with an advisor on Wednesday next week to discuss PSA option, since BIMS isn’t listed. But, my daughter was already accepted to TAMUCC, so she may be looking for a roommate should she accept her PSA offer. I don’t know how to exchange information, but maybe as a junior member you can PM me
@JaceyK dying to know what your son was offered
@luckyaggie totally commiserate with you - looking at the biochemistry requirements, 3 lab classes (4 hours each) per semester sounds like insanity!! BUT it can be done and it’s not going to get easier, but harder with the upper level courses - also, I think its better to take THOSE courses at a PSA school with smaller classes and more one on one with professors than at TAMU when you are in large sections (200-300 students per section) taught by ONE professor and multiple TAs. I’m actually thinking my son will be more grateful for this option vs full admit.
Now that my son is fully aware of the decision, I can share that he also got PSA. Guessing they are not doing any McAllen offers (or at least not to any here on CC).
Maybe those went out to Auto and Academic Admits…which would be even a bigger bummer if you were in that category.
Hmmm I wonder if McAllen can be given to auto and academic admits. Maybe with engineering but do you think that would be the case with bims or others? Interesting and possible. But that would make me angry as an auto/academic. I’d want to be guaranteed tamu cstat campus since those majors don’t have additional review process. I’m just typing out loud and working through it lol. And rambling like normal.
Since McAllen is full admit for BIMS (much like Galveston for Engineering) it could be offered I guess. But yes, can’t imagine anyone would be pleased with that offer. But possibly there were some reviews that received that offer and we just didn’t see them because they were not on this forum.
found out my decision today. 1360 sat, 3.6 gpa, 2nd quarter (top 28%). major: biomedical science.
got PSA.
Thanks @Thelma2 . Here’s what I’ve got for PSA and PTA differences: PSA GPA requirement 3.0, PTA, 3.2. PSA - A&M system schools, PTA any CC. PSA requires acceptance letter, PTA doesn’t.
My son just confirmed his PSA offer. Now the decision is his
sent you a PM with my info…thanks
I got PSA also
My son was offered PSA. I’m hearing rumors there were 8K more applicants this year than previous. Anyone want to chime in on benefit of doing Blinn over PSA and vice versa?
@aponiventoy also …PSA = 24 hrs; PTA = 30 hrs
