TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

Process*

@Thelma2 my daughters stats that got PSA. We applied early dont remember the date but I think it was early August or late July. Top 10% got accepted in early September so the wait until March was brutal. Losing VIZ off PSA flatlined all hope there and finding out through this forum instead of from TAMU directly seems crass of them. Dont care how big you are, business is done differently in Texas.
So heres the meat on your request.
Rank 2Q out of 645. SAT 1180 (test time is too short for my daughter to complete) No APs. Too much stress so our deal was must make all As. Weighted 4.4, Standard 3.9 (only Bs came from preAPs) I stretch my kids, I dont stress them. Stress sick kids its not worth it. Top notch LORs, 4 microsoft certs, 1st place TSA work multiple times, some volunteer hours but nothing crazy, Technology NHS, founder and President cartoon club 2years (big deal for an introvert to grow and run a club). Logo contests for community. Campus visit. Regional visit. Not first gen. No ACT. Portfolio got her into SVA in New York. Probably accepting her UTD ATEC offer (resume recommended). The take home here is that if APs make your kid sick, dont force it. Many AP kids got PSA anyway. Again, many thanks to this forum
it was all I had to keep my sanity through the in review timeframe. Husband got tired of hearing about it a long long time ago. Lol.

@daleNchip did you get acceptances to both locations or did TAMU pick one of your selections only? Looks like you got the email from Commerce but not CC.

@AggieDreamin TAMU select the schools that they give to students in their PSA offer on AIS. There are a possible 8 system schools. The student then picks from that list. There is no min/max number you can choose - this just lets TAMU which system schools to forward your original application/transcript/test scores on to. Not all students will get all 8 schools in their list to pick from - some have min math score requirements.

@Scotsfi What I was wondering is if they selected two schools (i.e. Tarlington and Commerce) If they would be considered for both and TAMU will send to both. In the case of @daleNchip they selected two and seems got response on only one. Therefore, wondering if TAMU picks only one to send paperwork to.

@AggieDreamin I think it’s because there’s a glitch with TAMU & Tarleton right now - it’s a techno issue which is why those who selected Tarleton are still waiting for ‘PSA acknowledgment’ email. Tarleton were aware of this earlier this past week - hopefully a technobot is on it to resolve.
My son selected 4 schools & has had acknowledgement emails from 2 - we still await WTAU & Tarleton

@libbyshims I got this info from CC & Tarleton’s PSA website page. Hope this may help

Re. Can you change your PSA major when you are here at TAMUCC he states (FAQ #11) “Yes, provided you make sure the classes you are currently taking, or have taken, will apply to your new plan. Make sure to inform me of this change and include this new PSA major when you re-apply to College Station in the spring”

This undeclared major message is echoed on the Tarleton PSA website page also thru video. RE. changing your PSA major their advisor also states “You will need to contact your PSA advisor to complete a change in the major form and you will need to include this new PSA major when you reapply to College Station in the Spring”

The major you take as a PSA student at system school is an undeclared major - it’s a pathway to your major at TAMU

Would I be able to apply for Spring 2020 at a&m this upcoming July while I would attend Blinn for the fall semester as a freshman with 30 college credit hours

has anyone that applied with a psychology major heard anything??

@iluvbadminton my daughter’s friend received PSA a couple weeks ago.

@Scotsfi - thank you! I will make sure he tells the PSA advisor this morning.

@2019graduatetx in the majority if not all cases, the answer is no. Most majors require at least on full long semester after graduating and they won’t consider Fall semester courses for Spring admit (some may, don’t know which ones). You can find all that information and the requirements for transferring for each specific major on the TAMU transfer admittance web page. You can also call an admission advisor for the major you want to transfer to.

Is there any forum for PTA program. Thanks

My Daughter is still under review

Change major button disappeared from Howdy between 11 pm and 2 am this morning. Change major button now gone on AIS . . . . .

@treytexag same for us. Yesterday in Howdy and this morning in AIS

@avvi yep, here you go

If ya’ll are still in review, you should probably expect a rejection (according to the admissions office)

Update on my own appeal process:

After shooting off an email to admissions, I had the option for an appeal turned on about a week later. There is a 500 word limit on the written section, and a drop-down box for selecting the reason(s) for the appeal. I’m currently gathering up my supporting documentation, and hoping to get it in by the end of the week. Main determining factor is when my pediatrician is able to give me a letter explaining my situation.

According to the reply I got to my email, the appeal board starts meeting mid-March, so, fingers crossed and wood thoroughly knocked upon, I’ll get a response soon.

Good luck to all who are still waiting, and gig 'em!

@ninamoore19 I expect a rejection for my daughter at this point. Still have change major tabs etc. I just can’t believe with 1300 SAT (670 M 630 E) 10.7% class rank and 4.0 unweighted etc. she wouldn’t even get Blinn or PSA. Time to move on I just wish they would hurry up and do it.
