TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

@aggiefampf I got an email saying my appeal was granted and 2 days later my applicant and howdy portal updated

I ā€œhad a feelingā€ yesterday afternoon and checked his AIS- under his mappeals tab it said ā€œappeal accepted.ā€ I started to cry- I called my son and he started crying on the phone. It was awesome. His Howdy and AIS updated about an hour ago.

Have any Class of ā€˜23 students received their dorm selection pull time yet?

@52AG82 Not yet. I received an email a little more than a week ago sharing the timeline of room selection below:
ROOM SELECTION (Non LLP)
May 1st - May 8th: You will be notified of your timeslot for room selection via email
May 8th - May 24th: Timeslots open and room selection begins
Room Selection will open on the day and time of your timeslot, and will remain open for selection and Room Swap until August 1st

MOVE IN:
August 10th: Corps of Cadets
August 15th: White Creek Apartments (by appt. only)
August 18th: Residence Halls

Sorry forgot to include the LLP STUDENTS:
April 15th - May 1st: Reply to your LLP offer
May 8th - May 15th: Roommate Selection will open for your specific LLP (if applicable)
May 20th - May 28th: LLP residents will be assigned a room and notified of your room assignment

@sdwims thanks for that. We have gotten that email, from TAMU Housing, but I’ve seen LLP ppl post they’ve already gotten dorm assignments, so it appears they’re ahead of their timeline.
Just don’t want to miss my daughters pull slot-well, would love to know when it is, so we can plan!

@52AG82 How many posts have we seen for incoming freshmen LLP dorm assignments? I have seen only 1. On the Aggie Parent FB, that same one is the ONLY one mentioned (having heard it on CC) out of hundreds (many hundreds) of incoming freshmen, whose parent has reported having been assigned housing or LLP housing.

@Thelma2 I can’t remember if I saw the LLP dorm post on CC or Aggie Parent page? I was surprised by it, because it is way ahead of the official TAMU timeline. I can’t imagine someone is lying, but it’s surprising because no one else has commented.
Fingers crossed, my daughter should have a great pull time (paid housing dep Sept 19), but anxious to know when her time is-hoping it isn’t during the school day or during AP tests.
We toured dorms again, with roommate, yesterday.

@52AG82 It was announced here and I saw someone that mentioned it on the parent page. I just did a search on the parent page using several search terms and there is nothing from any other parent that a student has received assignment.

Same for the Engineering parent page.

As to the lying or fake applicants/parents on CC, oh it happens all the time (not pointing out any specific user)

@Thelma2 ahhh…so it may not be true then? I find it hard to believe TAMU is THAT ahead of the time frame, especially when May 1 is the Housing deadline. At our Business Honors Invitational yesterday, I was surprised to learn there are still kids who haven’t made their college decision yet.
I think those that haven’t, are deciding between Ivy League & TAMU.

@52AG82 I can’t say it is true or it isn’t. What I do know is that it is the only one that has been posted and on an anonymous page at that. It was mentioned on a parent page, where no one is anonymous, and no other parent has reported housing assignments, LLP or otherwise. There are 11,151 members and very active. So, when I see something too good to be true, after all of the cycles on the forum I’ve participated, I take it with a grain of salt until more info is forthcoming or more reports from real people.

@Thelma2 I definitely agree with you. Not one other person has commented about getting any form of form assignment, time slot.

@52ag82 @Thelma2 Unless their are more then one post, it was on one of the housing threads and the person said they just found out they were accepted into an LLC in Hullabulloo. I only know of two LLC’s in that dorm and they are both honors related, one liberal arts and the other public health I think. It’s possible he found out that he was accepted into the LLC well before he finds out his room. If I remember right he was asking about room layouts so he didn’t have a room assignment yet. Also, another possibility is if he has housing accommodations, he would find out weeks ahead of the opening of room assignments. My son found out his freshman year in March.

@pbleigh what are housing accommodations?

@pbleigh That makes sense. Thanks for the memory jog that being accepted into the LLC is not the same as receiving the room assignment. I was thinking of the latter and not the former. Makes sense. And the accommodations aspect, makes even more sense. Thank you for clarifying.

@52AG82 Housing accommodations are through disability services. It’s for kids that have a doctor’s recommendation for some sort of specific housing. In my son’s case he has asthma and allergies, and his doctor did not want him in the older buildings and he wanted him to have his own room. So once the Housing Assignments office approves the accommodations they will hand select rooms to match individual’s approved requests. In my son’s freshman year he was approved in November or December and got his room in March.

Does anyone know if we need to put down a deposit and fill out a housing application for Corps housing?

Hey everyone,
I still havent heard back on my appeal yet, and I’m trying to glean some more specific knowledge on how others appeals have gone. I’ve gone at least a few pages back (congrats to all who got their appeal approved!) and haven’t seen anyone with a medical-type appeal yet. I’m currently waiting on my appeal, which was medical, to be evaluated. I’m under the assumption that medical appeals are either more closely scrutinized, or are reviewed by only a certain set of people. Alternatively, it’s entirely possible that I ended up drawing the short straw on the pecking order when it comes to reviews, and ended up near the bottom of the list.

I got PSA on Feb. 26, and submitted my appeal on the 29th of March.

Mine went through a few days ago and I was granted full-admission! I appealed due to class rank - as I was ranked within top 10% before my senior year started but it wasn’t reflected on the transcript I sent in at the time. So glad it went through - I was Blinn-Team before appeal so not sure if that has anything to do with when I heard back? Good Luck!
