@Chemengmom , where are you seeing the available rooms listed?
@CamandCam The original poster already had their time, so they can now always be looking at rooms, till August I believe. If your son (and you) havenāt already watched the video (how to pick your room) at bottom of email (that gave time slot), you might find it helpful. Good luck!!
@Eggscapgoats , thanks, that explains it. And yes, we watched the video. Thanks!
My son had his housing time slot today at 5pm. No glitches. Everything went smooth and room was selected within 10 minutes. He got his first choice which was Neely.
Same with my son. No glitches. He was also done in less than 10 minutes. His first choice was mosher but nothing was available there (housing department said it was reserved for LLC). He got Krueger, which was his second choice.
Regarding early move in, the housing portal offers two options: (1) to move in early in fall 2019 and (2) to move in early in spring 2020. If you select only fall early move in now, do you still have the option later to choose spring early move in? Or do you have to decide on both semesters now?

Wow - itās really happening @Thelma2 ?? So next year is the last year?
Any word on the admit breakdown for fall 2019 yet?
@Thelma2 wow! Good for them! Any idea if transferring from Blinn will be stricter also? I would think, given the number of students doing PSA this coming year, thatāll make transferring in much more difficult.
Yes, Iād also love some numbers for the incoming class of 2023-how many applied, how many accepted, how many were auto/academic admit, etc.
You continue to be a great resource for all things TAMU!
@BlueBayouAZ So, it seems. I hate that for incoming Jrs and wish they began it with the incoming freshman hs class. But they didnāt ask me, so here we are
@52AG82 No idea how this all might affect Blinn transfers, especially if as many kids complete PSA as have taken it on for next fall. I could see majors that had certain numbers of seats being affected for transfers.
The fall of 2019 numbers wonāt be out until Nov on Dars.
The November release is on DARS includes enrollment @Thelma2 . There is an admission release in the summer. When we attended a late July āapplication workshopā at the prospective students center they had this years admitted numbers in a power point. If I recall that was one of the first things I posted on this threadā¦
Edited to add; I looked back and I posted the stats on September 9th. But I got them on July 26th.
@BlueBayouAZ I think they show those at those workshops but I have not seen them posted online except unofficially on the counselor connection webpage. This is from 2017. I couldnāt find the one for 2018. http://web-as.tamu.edu/ecardimages/2018/CounselorConnection/CounselorConnection_SPRING_v2.html
@52AG82 Iām a little late to this party. Why is the change in the Academic Admit policy a good thing?
@WTXMama I guess it can be viewed as good & bad. Good to give the upcoming Jr class a heads up; bad because some may not have time to raise their gpa.
Itās been rumored for awhile that the decision was going to be made-better to announce sooner, rather than later.
@52AG82 I see what you mean. Yes, better to know as soon as possible.
Ah @Thelma2 - that might explain you thanking me for sharing the stats back then. I thought you were just being polite!
Well this is not good for my S21. Heās a great 1Q student, just not in top 10%. He was counting on qualifying as an Academic Admit. Weāre definitely not putting all our eggs in one basket and applying to all Texas schools but he really wants to be an Aggieā¦I hope Blinn Team is in his future at least
@Momof3B Iām sure if he still does above a 30, especially this first go round of all holistic review if not auto, then he will have a great shot of full admit. Also remember that he can take the ACT at TAMU as a residual ACT. scored the next day and counts only towards tamu. It shows commitment to wanting to attend TAMU. It does cost a little more though!!! Just throwing it out there.
I agree with what @AggieMomhelp is saying. The higher the scores the better.
When analyzing the DARS stats - for the past two years (not 2023, but I expect that to be more brutal) - I was surprised to see that students in the top 25 but not academic admits were about as likely to gain admission as students in the second quarter. Remember the number of review admits admitted is pretty small, and the top 25% that is not academic admits is really top 10.1%-25%).
What eliminating academic admission (something UT and UTD did years ago) does is give the University a little more wiggle room in shaping enrollment. Chances are they will stick pretty close to the academic admit standards.
Lots of people complain about the top 10 rule, but an academic admit even furthers that.
For those who argue that āhigh performing schoolsā are at a disadvantage - more holistic admission could help.
Here is a hypothetical - Instead of having to admit a student with the minimal academic scores (which are awesome scores) ranked 24% in a school where the top 25% begins at 3.8, in the same district but different school (so equal access to classes) where you need at least a 4.1 to be in the 25%, they could choose to take a student ranked 30% with a 1480 SAT.
Bottom line - itās getting harder and harder to get into TAMU and UT as the population grows. But the removal of the academic admit allows the university to look at the whole student.
Hi All! I havenāt been on this thread since last spring when my daughter received a PSA offer from TAMU. Iām sure Iām late to this discussion but I want to give all of you that didnāt get immediately admitted into TAMU CStat some hope. While she was heartbroken about not being able to attend her dream school in the fall of her freshman year she decided to do what we thought for her was the next best thing. She signed the PTA contract with TAMU, moved to College Station and attended Blinn. At first she thought it was going to be embarrassing that she wasnāt a full fledged Aggie. Once she got there, she knew that was not the case. Many Aggies take classes at Blinn. Nobody knows who goes where unless you tell them. That being said she has completed 35 hours with straight Aās and one B. She will be attending TAMU in the fall. She now has many friends at TAMU and even attended several Aggie formals. Personally, I think Blinn was a great stepping stone from high school to TAMU. Better yet, we saved lots of money her first year. Point isā¦donāt be deterred from attending Blinn in College Station. Once there our daughter realized it was just the start of her Aggie dreamā¦
