@TransferAg16 how many credits have you completed at this time? What required courses are you taking in spring?
@AggieMomhelp I currently have 25 hours and will have 40 hours by the end of the spring semester. The required courses I’m taking this spring are Econ 202 (microeconomics) and Math 140 (Business Pre-cal). I already completed and received an A in Math 142 (Business Calculus I) as well as A’s in the rest of the required coursework.
@TransferAg16 I am sure that @AggieMomhelp will have much more specific advice since I believe her son is an Econ major but wanted to make sure you are following the transfer sheet for 2019-2020.

Have you already taken Econ 203 (Macro Econ) because that appears to also a requirement for transfer.
Nice recall @AggieDreamin my son is BS Econ. And yes both Econ’s are required for transfer. So @TransferAg16 did you do econ 203 as dual? Great job on your gpa. You’re barley over the minimum hours and yes you’ll be deferred til spring grades, but I believe you’ll be accepted assuming you continue on with As and even a B or 2 will be fine. Work hard. And in your essay talk about why you want Econ. What you’ll do with it and how you can benefit tamu as a student.
@AggieDreamin yes I have taken Econ 203 and received an A. Following the transfer sheet you attached, the only classes I’m missing are the ones I mentioned above. Thank you.
Thank you @AggieMomhelp I really appreciate your help.
Howdy yall. I’m planning to transfer to TAMU in the fall of 2020. Does anyone know if the biology department is competitive regarding transfers?
@Dara123 define competitve. It’s tamu. It’s all competitive but yes some are harder than others to transfer into. Look at minimum gpa and that’ll give you an idea. If 3.25 or higher, then yes, competitive. 3.5 or higher in most majors should be good if you’ve met minimum Transfer requirements for that major. .
ok thanks. I just finished my first semester and my GPA wasn’t that great. Do you think they would ask for my spring grades?
@Dara123 if you don’t have minimum requirements in classes or gpa then if they don’t deny you, they will defer you for spring grades. What’s your gpa at this time? Bio minimum is 3.0.
2.7. First semester was rough for me
So to be real, they will either deny you or defer you. If 3.0 Is minimum, then most likely they will deny you. If there another major that has a 2.5 gpa minimum that is similar to a stem major, then I’d go for that and get in and then get gpa up to change to bio. What’s your end game? As in what do you want to do with degree? There could be other options to get you there
My end goal is to go to med school to become a pediatrician
That’s great. Not sure there’s a better route. How many credits do you have?
25
So you’re minimum credits and below gpa minimum. So expect either a denial or deferment. If denied…get that gpa up as much as possible and apply for spring. You have time. No worries if you don’t get in first try. So many students are sitting at 60 plus hours trying to transfer. You’re in a good spot. Just work on that gpa. You’ve got this.
ok thank you so much
I have one more question. If you are taking the last required class in the fall, will TAMU consider that into my application for the spring?
@Dara123 I do not think they will. If you look at the transfer requirements sheet under the Coursework Timeline it says, “Fall coursework will not be considered for spring applicants.”

Get everything done by end of summer.
