TAMU Transfer Fall 2019

@AggieMomhelp Do you know what is the required minimum number of hours needed for transferring into mays business school? Its says 24 minimum on the transfer sheet but people applying to mays transfer have more like 50-60 so im kinda confused. Is it good to have more hours because I heard that schools like UT dont like seeing a lot of hours from transfer applicants into McCombs?

@sma1234 on the course transfer sheet for transfering into Mays:

Additional Information
 Plan early. Transfer applicants are strongly encouraged to connect with a Texas A&M University admissions counselor as soon as an interest in Texas A&M University is identified.
 Mays admits 100 transfer students each year.
 Transfer students are admitted for summer or fall semesters only. No spring admissions. Mays admits its complete transfer admission class in the original review of applications; as such, spring grades are not considered.
 Applicants need a grade of “A” in most courses to be competitive. Courses in progress at the time of application are considered incomplete.
 Applicants are encouraged to use the required essay as an opportunity to identify their past accomplishments, discuss what they hope to study at Texas A&M University, and describe how their undergraduate business education will help them meet goals after graduation. Application essays are read and reviewed for content, presentation and style.
 Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. The entire record is reviewed for consistency in coursework and grades.

–>> **Preference is given to applicants ready to join Mays’ junior class upon arrival at Texas A&M.*<<—

 Although Mays does not state a specific number of Maximum Transferable Hours, acceptance of transfer credit for business courses will generally be limited to those courses taught in the freshman and sophomore years at Texas A&M University. Mays undergraduate students must take all 300- and 400- level business coursework in residence at Texas A&M University.
 Mays’ undergraduate program is subject to strict enrollment management. Although no minimum GPA is required, the competitive nature of transfer admission to Mays results in denial of many highly qualified applicants. IMPORTANT: Transfer applicants are instructed NOT to accept transfer admission to a non-business major with the expectation of later applying for an on-campus change of major.

Transfer Course Sheet Notes

  1. Admission preference is given to applicants with the highest GPA and the most appropriate courses completed.
  2. Transfer applicants are encouraged to complete University Core Curriculum coursework found in the Undergraduate Catalog unless specified above.
  3. This Transfer Course Sheet was supported in a partnership between the Office of Admissions and Mays Business School at Texas A&M University with
the Undergraduate Catalog having the most extant and definitive information.

@sma1234 I only pointed that out because if you have 1000 students applying for transfer and only 100 students get in, they are going to target the highest GPA and those ready for junior year. Period. If you do one year, I think you are wasting your time. adding - bottom line is that it is VERY competitive

Have not seen much on the College of Architecture really on here except people being deferred for spring grades. Kinda nerve racking to wonder if 1) just different departments roll out at different times in their decisions, I have heard that college is typically one of the last ones, not too sure on that. Or if that my application is still in review because I am making cuts throughout, I can be honest that I don’t have excellent grade reports on some things as I am human, but experiences, and I have already have taken some career based classes and did really well in them and a proof a change from past to present. who knows! hopes aren’t up, but hopes aren’t down.

@SMA1234 Have you had a chance to look at the sheet? I totally get the confusion. I think it’s more like the bare minimum is the 24 across the board for all majors. However each major has their own extra requirements, like Mays. So there are 8 REQUIRED (24 credits) courses listed on the transfer sheet and they recommend one more which is Mgmt 211. Most of those that transfer will have all of this PLUS more to be competitive. Having the bare minimums won’t always cut it, especially for Mays.

So basically you would have to take ONE Math, Econ, Accounting, then English in semester One. Then the second course for each plus Speech in semester two. PLUS Take MGMT 211 online at Blinn. It’s a killer course at TAMU… GPA killer to be exact. This is a tough schedule and I’m going to take a gander that most students don’t take this load… they sprinkle a little GPA boosting classes like creative arts or something they enjoy.

Hope this helps.

How long does it typically take to get accepted on AIS after you get 6 tabs?

what are the tabs that everyone is talking about??? how do i look to see if i have any??

@jgtamu22 When you log into Howdy look at the tabs at the top of the page (maroon margin). Right now you should have Home - Applicant - My Howdy , if you also have My Record - My Finances - Student Life then you have been accepted.

@alirhasan96 Construction Science and I had a 3.0 GPA and 37 hours, sorry for taking a while to respond.

Whenever I try to access my “Manage Applications” tab it crashes and I get the notifications “Session timed out” and then it finally loads. Did this happen to anyone else?

Hello, I have currently applied as an international student to Texas A&M University and waiting for the results. I applied for chemical engineering and I heard the expectations are comparatively high than other majors. I went through 34 hours and my GPA is 3.89. Is there any chance that I could get admitted to Chemical engineering? How do y’all think

@masondubs when did you apply and receive your audit?

Does anyone know if students accepted to Mays can apply for honors classes/Program?

@wonderlust1 I’m next to positive only incoming freshman can apply for Business Honors, then again spring semester of freshman year (very limited spots). Business Honors is a stand alone degree.

https://mays.tamu.edu/bba-business-honors/

@wonderlust1 I found link for “current” students which I assume to include older students: https://mays.tamu.edu/bba-business-honors/current-what-we-look-for/

Email honors@mays.tamu.edu and ask to be sure.

@aggg11 I applied January 7th I believe, and got audit February 4th.

@AggieMomhelp As a Mays applicant, do you know if people still get tabs later, in waves or is it everyone at once? If I haven’t gotten any and others have is it safe to say I’m not getting in? Be brutally honest cause I need to start looking into my backup schools and this wait is killing me. Thanks!

@alirhasan96 In the last years there have been waves of Mays applicants; however, after the first wave the available spots dwindle really fast. All of the people that got tabs yesterday applied the 1st or the 2nd I don’t know when you applied but it could be that they are still reviewing applicants and comparing them.

@Walker03 I applied on the 2nd but got my audit a little later than yall and had an error in it I had to get corrected too. Wishfully thinking that’s why I didn’t get mine at the same time as yall but again, wishful thinking ?. Thinking about majoring in Economics now as that was my second choice - if I get into that!
