@Calaggie2021 for whatever reason, I am unable to message you on here. It won’t pull up your name and when I type it in, it disappears. So weird.
What type of apt or living situation are you interested in? Close to campus as in walking, bus etc.

@AggieMomhelp so close as possible( although I will have a car). I have read that sterling might be the most ideal but I’m open to the best option. My biggest concern was would it be better to fly in and figure the lease out in person or is it something I can do over the phone?
@Calaggie2021 It is only my personal opinion but I would wait until I could be there in person. A rental contract is a legally binding document and I’ve heard of too many mix-ups in which families have thought everything was ironed out and it wasn’t. READ EVERYTHING and get everything in writing.
Definitely agree that you and your parents need to look at all of the fine print of any lease contract. There are quite a bit of apartments on northgate like sterling. How many bedrooms (ie roommates) do you want? What amenities? Furnished (I’m guessing yes). Free parking?
@AggieMomhelp I am pretty open for anything. Ideally the cheapest possible, but not cheap to the point of giving up having a decent apartment. Free parking and amenities are ideal but not a deal breaker!
Thanks for the advice, I will be flying out for a few days in april!
@theonegoof what’s his major?
@letsgetit! I believe civil engineering
How long does it take to get your acceptance or rejection? I feel like so many people have been accepted already.
@evslove each department is different. If your first choice major on AIS is still there, then a decision has not been made. If it changes to your second choice, then you’ll know the first one denied you but you would still have a shot at 2nd choice. Hope this helps alleviate a little stress!!!
From reading these boards, it seems that certain majors (like Business and Engineering) are pretty competitive for transfers. AggieMomhelp (or anyone): do you know anything about International Studies? I don’t see many posts mentioning it. Thanks in advance.
@DeltaKilo5 I have the same question about bioenvironmental sciences. I wonder if its a competitive major or not.
Thanks @AggieMomhelp I’m still under review for my first option; however, still on review. Maybe in the next couple weeks.
Best way to tell if major is competitve is to look at minimum gpa for transfer as well as looking to see change of major minimums.
Anything 3.0 or less, isn’t going to be that competitve but some majors may have a cap on how many they can take as transfer.
Just remember that the minimum doesn’t guarantee you, it’s best to have at least .5 more than minimum and all required course work done before applying.
Got 6 tabs from Mays today!!
Applied 1/2
GPA: 3.85
All required/recommended coursework complete
That’s awesome @alirhasan96 Congrats!
@AggieMomhelp Thanks!! And thank you so much for helping us all out during our extreme stress inducing waits. You’re awesome.
thanks @AggieMomhelp I’m still in review, but it’s still on my first major. So, that’s good news. This is torture! Thank you so much for your help.
Has anyone been accepted into the college of agriculture and life sciences yet?
@evslove My daughter was Ag when she transferred. I remember it being a slow process from this college. It’s a large college and I think they go through several steps before even getting into the specific major/dept. But I will say once you are in… it is a fantastic college with wonderful advisors. Keep us posted!
Thanks @AggieMomhelp I’ve been really worried about my major and the conservative aspects of this college. Bioenvironmental sciences in a college known for being way right-wing seems kinda nerve-wracking for me. During my essay, I was very vocal about why I chose environmental sciences. I’m worried that may go against me during the application process.
Again, my stats are pretty solid: 4.0 GPA, 60 hrs. completed, volunteer at South Padre Island Sea Turtle Inc, PTK member, student activist (may not be positive for Texas A&M but it’s something I’m proud of)
@evslove you gotta be you! So good for you for being passionate about what you believe in. That’s what makes the world go round. I doubt it would impact you negatively at all. TAMU is more diverse with conservatives and liberals… with so many students, everyone finds their tribe!!!
@EVSLOVE I’ve been following this thread without commenting on it, but I am also a Bioenvironmental sciences major and I just got my six tabs today. Still waiting on the official acceptance, but if I were you I wouldn’t worry- your stats are way better than mine, so you should be hearing back soon.
