Thanks @2xAggieMom. That is the current plan. I know I was being dramatic, but I just think that this was not handled in a manner that I would be consider top notch.
@WWOODS1 I certainly understand your frustration!! This is my second time to have a child do the PSA. My first son was official on June 3. My second son was not official this year until June 12. I had waves of panic and kept double checking to make sure we had completed everything and turned it all in. With my first son, everything was handled so efficiently that I keep telling myself that it will be that way once again. When my son signed up for his NSC this summer, only the August date was available but he has since gone back and was able to get a July spot when someone canceled. I don’t know what they will do for these kids that are only now getting word but I know that we all have an agreement and A&M will figure something out. I am wondering if they didn’t have more students that successfully completed their 1st year of PSA than they typically do. These hard working and determined students are just what A&M wants in their student body.
@WWOODS1 I also see that both of our students are in the School of Agriculture and Life Sciences. I think that the paperwork for the admission of PSA students is done by each individual school. Maybe they need to put more people on that. I have heard really great things about the staff of the Ag area, though, so I’m hoping that they are busy being fabulous in other areas. ?
@2xAggieMomI had my daughter just keep checking and we saw July pop up around 9pm last night and snagged it right away. It turned out to be a bunch of unnecessary worry and stress. I really think there could have been more communication from the school though. I am glad it all worked out, and really excited to go to NSC and learn more about being and Aggie.
Question in a year advanced lol - do they sign up for transfer NSC or same NSC as the Freshmen?
@JaceyK they sign up for transfer NSC. They are offered at different times than the freshman NSCs. However, there is at least 1 “hybrid” NSC that is both this summer.
Okay, another question - are there more requirements other than what is listed on the PSA page? I thought I read somewhere that they had to meet some deadline in March of their Freshman year for what I don’t know…?? I know that they have to: take the required courses listed in their major, must take minimum 24 hours for freshman year, and make a B or better (for his major, he has to get a B or better in every required class). Anything else? So afraid he will miss something and won’t make the transfer…
@JaceyK In March, they have to submit the transfer application. When they apply in March, they will select the application fee waiver, so they do not have to pay that again, but it re-confirms with ATM that they do still intend to transfer. This year the students had to request that the transcript be sent with the March application, and then send in the final transcript in May after classes.
I am not sure how much you followed threads, but here is how tings transpired for my daughter.

Thank you @2xAggieMom and @WWOODS1, I have been through the wringer with my oldest daughter transferring this past Spring AND my oldest son applying as freshman. My son applied as a BIMS major and did not get a spot with 12.2% rank and 29 ACT (with all qualifying sub-scores)…so he is going to TAMU CC this year with the hopes of transferring. Question - will he get an email about the application? I didn’t see that anywhere. Or does the PSA advisor walk him through the steps? And @WWOODS1 didn’t TAMU already have her HS transcript? Will my son have to resend? I guess they will need to resend to include senior year - nvm on that question. Just hate that he will have to go through another nerve wracking waiting process.
Edited to add, he is not doing BIMS for PSA but Biochemistry.
We did not send he final HS to TAMU at first, but you could theoretically send it to both TAMU and TAMU-CC after grades are finalized this summer. We just sent to TAMU-CC last summer.
My daughter went the TAMU-CC route and is extremely excited/relieved that it is all now finalized. I was probably more anxious and nerve wracked than she.
Bill Coari (TAMU-CC PSA advisor) sent emails to all of the students early in the spring semester reminding students to go and fill out the application.
After talking with my daughter, make sure your son looks closely at all of the schools he is offered. She just felt TAMU-CC did not have a great college experience vibe to it. There is a large commuter population and even half of the “campus” housing (Momentum Village -she stayed there) is not on the island and about 1.5 - 2 miles away.
Looking back if she were not in PSA, she would not have attended TAMU-CC, because it wasn’t really a “college experience”.
I wish we had known how long the wait was going to be, but know that if he meets the requirements, he is in and that it could be mid to late June before things really kick up.
BioChem is also in Agriculture and Life Science, like my daughters major and several of the folks she met and became friends with at TAMU-CC. Everyone in Ag&Life Science that was PSA all got the update to Howdy the same day. Other colleges were notified much sooner, so don’t let that get him down. We were finally told after a few phone calls that the College internal deadline was 06/20 and everyone of them saw Howdy update the morning of 06/21.
Howdy yall. Anyone transferring to Biology degree, were you deferred for spring grades?
Hello, I currently have a 3.4 with 22 hours but will have 24 by the end of the semster and am trying to transfer into the communications program at A&M in the fall of 2020. What do you think my chances are?
Hi, @iwannabeanaggie8, I am applying to communications as well but with a 3.4. What do you think my chances are of getting admitted??
you will be deferred til spring grades are out. But your GPA is solid, so you’ll most likely get in.
Hi, I’ve applied to mechanical engineering with a 3.5 from OU. Do I have any chances ? also an international student
Engineering is a tough transfer. Will depend on what field and if you have the required courses complete when you apply! Good luck though.
