Teach For America 2012 Corps

Thanks socalgirl, mookie, nerd, bookaddict, and everyone else for wishing me luck!

I am truly grateful to have such a wonderful support team on this forum.
My first reaction to the email was pure joy! Then, minutes later, my
officemate gchatted the entire office and told them the news. Everyone
swarmed to my desk and gave me celebratory hugs :)

I am excited about my admittance; but, I still have another few
days to get my placement, subject, and grade level.

Nottheonlyone, I chose places in the east coast. My first choice
was New York, followed by D.C. and Philly. I grew up on the west coast
and I want to take this time to explore the eastern region of the
United States.

So, along with icebreaker, I am playing the waiting game. Good luck
to the member that hears from TFA tomorrow.

With much gratitude,

Siva562

Congrats on your acceptance, siva562! As I was a TFA applicant on the December 2nd Final Interview Day, finding this thread has helped lessen - though not eliminate - the stress I’m experiencing waiting to hear on my own acceptance. Hopefully come next Tuesday I’ll be experiencing the same joy. Here’s to it!

Patiently awaiting January 17th. I AM SO NERVOUS.

Glad to know I am not the only one obsessing so much. Goodluck everyone!

NerdGarcon - I have to take a new version of the Praxis exam that just came out in November, so it’s nearly impossible to find study materials. :-/ But I’ve been also having a bit of difficulty with the literacy component,

icebreaker8 - LVV was my 1st preference, as was Elementary Ed… so I got lucky!

I’m late to join this board, but good luck to all who hear back on Jan 17! I applied to the third deadline and am also awaiting a decision!

If it puts anyone at ease, I was accepted early for the third deadline due to a competing job offer and my status for the transitional funding package said “complete” before I was notified of my acceptance. Not sure if this holds true for all people who have been accepted.

Hi  I’ve been reading your posts and I’m so glad to know I"m not the only one going through all of the stress of waiting haha. I also applied to the third deadline and can’t wait for Tuesday. I’m posting now though cause I just noticed that my transitional funding status changed to complete!!! Ahh!! Hopefully it’s good news.

Rolo and Chelsea,

My transitional funding status changed to complete before
I was notified as well.

Hope that helps everyone :)

Mine was just changed to complete as well. Slightly nerve-wracking.

soooo I applied late for transitional funding, way past the deadline… Mine still says “under review” but I don’t know if this is because I applied late, or simply because I didn’t get in. This is nerve-wracking indeed…

Mine hasn’t changed either and I applied before the funding deadline :-/ maybe they just aren’t done yet or it’s going by last name or something? :-/ my last name
Starts with R. Anyone that has changed to compete care
To share? (sorry about
Formatting, I’m on my
Phone)

Mine changed to complete. I also applied before the deadline and my last name starts with a K.

Hey guys, I just found the forum. I am waiting to hear for the 3DL on January 17th. Getting anxious. I applied for transitional funding with my application. However I didn’t get the documents uploaded until last night. The minute I submitted them status changed from under review to complete. Don’t know how they approved it so fast? Any ideas?

Hi there Aggie (Davis or Tech?),

I had a similar situation. I applied long after the deadline and my status changed within 24 hours. I was accepted, so it might be a good sign for you?

Hi NerdGarcon, thanks for the reply. Good to find a place to discuss Teach for America. Congratulations on your acceptance. Where are you headed? and what are you teaching? By the way did your funding status have yes by some of the required documents and NA by others?

Elementary School in Atlanta.

I don’t quite remember about the NA stuff. I just had to submit my student loan verifications and my 2010 tax return.

Hey Aggie,

I just got accepted and my transitional funding status had one NA. Probably due to the fact that they found the information they needed from the other documents I submitted.

So my transitional funding status still says under review :frowning: I hope that’s not a bad sign but even if it is, I’m going to be extremely happy for everyone selected!

I applied after the deadline, and mine still hasn’t change. My last name does start later in the alphabet (W), but I doubt that has anything to do with it. If my funding status doesn’t change tomorrow, I’m just going to assume that I didn’t get in. :o

Mine says complete but I did not notice when it changed. I can’t help but assume I’ve been rejected lol.
