Soooo…I just had my phone interview and now waiting to know if I am accepted or not…
How was your phone interview??? Anybody waiting and would like to share their experiences? I think I went pretty well, but I was kinda nervous LOL LOL
Gosh the waiting will kill me!!! haha

It’s so nice to finally hear from someone who is also just now doing the phone interview. I’ve been checking this thread and it’s all from people who have already had their final interviews! I just had my phone interview yesterday. I scheduled it for Thursday and no one called me so I had to reschedule, which was pretty nerve wracking. I think it went well, but it’s kind of hard to tell. I didn’t like that they mostly asked all the questions based on my current internship, where I’ve only worked for three months and only two days a week so I really didn’t have much to say. Ughh… Why must they make us wait so long to find out? I found out I got a phone interview really early in the day even though they said notifications would be sent out after 6pm, so I’m wondering do they notify you earlier if you moved on and the rejections get sent out later? So if you move on to the final interview do you get notified early in the day and rejections are sent out after 8pm?

i also just had my phone interview today. thank goodness both of you feel similar to the way I do…it’s so hard to tell how it went and i was a bit nervous. I didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t asked about my passion for education at all. it was a very clinical experience…feb 1st will take a lifetime to get here, but i’m doing my best to stay positive

Well I did read on TFA’s website that about half of the applicants move on to the final interview, so that’s probably good. I didn’t get asked about my experience working with kids or with education at all. It might be that they already had enough information from our application though. I keep reading into every little thing my interviewer said. She said a couple things in the future tense about me (like “the hardest part of TFA for me was adjusting to working with kids, but you won’t have that problem since you have experience…”) and I know that doesn’t mean anything, but I’m holding onto that like it meant she was pushing me through to the next round.

Hi Chikvicious8 and jse2117
I felt the same way.
She did not ask anything about my passion for education… weird. She asked mostly about my job, and the challenges I had in it… with coworkers bla bla bla… I wish she asked a little more about my experiences with kids or education in general, but it wasn’t the case.
She also asked why I chose Teach for America and not an alternative program… did you have this question?

Chikvivious, As far as I know EVERYONE is notified about acceptance or rejection on February 1st… never heard about getting to know it early… but I am not sure.

I am not sure how many corps member will be accepted this year, does anybody know? I read an article that said that 47000 apply, 30000 pass the fisrt review screen and reference check, 22000 advance to the final interview, 7000 pass final interview, 4500 new corps members head to institute…

My interviewer was pretty “cold”. She talked for the first 3 minutes explaining the interview proccess and then just asked the questions… thats it… I wish she could interact with me a bit more… but oh well…LOL

Smarques2, I just meant we are supposed to get notified February 1st after 8pm, but I’m wondering if the people who move on to the final interview find out before 8pm on Feb 1st. On the day we were notified about moving on to the phone interview we were told we would find out after 6pm, but I received an email at about 11am. What time did you get your email telling you that you made it to the phone interview? My interviewer wasn’t cold at all, she was super friendly and made comments like “That’s great,” after my answers even though I’m sure this was just to be nice. They also asked me why I wanted to join TFA over another program and it sounds like we got asked the exact same questions.

Hi Chikvicious,
Sorry, now I got what you meant.
I was notified before 6pm, I think it was around 2pm that I received my e-mail.
I think that they will be notifying people throughout the day, even though it says 8pm… I read a couple of posts from people that were notified in the afternoon…but we never know.
Now we just have to wait 10 long days!!
What state are you in? I am in Florida

Good to know! Hopefully not getting an email until after 8 doesn’t mean bad news! I’m from California. Are you trying to join TFA straight out of college? I graduated a year ago so I felt like they were expecting me to have done something really impressive in the last year haha

hi smarques2,

were you interviewed by a female whose name began with an S by any chance?? lol. our interviews are sounding wayyy too similar, lol. i got asked about work, challenges, a class, and organization. i was also asked why tfa and sort of stumbled a bit on that because it was the first question…there was no warm up, no tell me a little about yourself, except for her explaining to me the break-down of the call. it can go either way, but i hoping for the best! totally agree with you though, it was rather cold.

OMG! Jse2117
I think it was the same exact girl…
I wish she had asked me to talk a little about myself… and now I remember she asked what was the worst class in college and why LOL… Where are you applying from?

Chickvicius, I am in Orlando, FL. and I am finishing my senior year:-) straight out of college!!
I chose Los Angeles as well… as one of my preferences…

Post when you find out!

I got my email inviting me to the final interview! I’m so excited and nervous. Did anyone else get theirs?
