Tesla 3

It is not about what is immediately in the blind spots. It is about predicting what will be in your blind spots soon. Being able to predict that - the camera view was awesome for that purpose. The camera on the X sits pretty high off the road, so what you see is pretty panoramic. Of course, you would not need to see what is behind you if you drive faster than everyone else. Mr. prefers not to drive faster than those Audis that collect the tickets handed out by our local State Partol who sit in the usual speed traps.

Update - a few days ago Tesla issued an update of 9.0. Guess what?! The rear cam view split is baaaack. I am Impressed that the maker listened to its “fan base.” There was a lot of buzzing on the Tesla forums about losing that feature.

Tesla last Friday finally contacted me. But it wasn’t to buy the Model 3, it was to ask whether I wanted my $1,000 deposit refunded or not. Things are just so weird there.

Are you holding out for the $36,000 version (210 mile EPA range, no premium upgrade package or other options)?

I guess I am holding out for a “cheaper” version. I’m still very upset with them that they never contacted me when the more expensive version was available for configuration.

Did you check your account?

Now this is funny! Illegal fuel was used! DQ!

http://globaltimeattack.com/2018-rules/ for that event indicate that most of the classes other than unlimited and pro/comp specify some subset of gasoline, Diesel, ethanol, or methanol fuel.

Got a sliver of a sense of humor, UCB? ROFL. Watch the video - it is hilarious. Nerds taking on car nuts.

I feel like I constantly need to remind Mr. that he is not in his Tesla when he is driving his big rig truck. He forgets that the rig does not accelerate as fast as the X! Even though he does not have that crazy fast acceleration option in it (thank dogs).

Anyone have backup camera not work on initial backing up out of the garage but starts when put in forward then reverse again? This started happening about a month ago. The updates are up to date,.

Sometimes it doesn’t com right on, but if I put it in drive and then reverse again it usually fixes it.

Tesla really doesn’t want me. After I talked to them last Friday stating that I was still interested in purchasing the Model3, they sent me a text message today asking me again if I wanted a refund on my deposit. Geez…

Prof - the message is likely generated automatically. We got it, too. Just ignore it. I would not text back to a number I am not familiar with.

@ProfessorPlum168 - just configure it on line and place the order

@jym626 most of me is holding out for the cheaper version, but part of me wants to get the full tax credit, which probably will only go until the end of this quarter. So I’ll probably hold out until mid-December and see where things are at.

@ProfessorPlum168 - I thought they built the requisite # already for the full tax credit.

They said anything ordered before Oct 15 will be guaranteed a full credit… the later orders may not get there.

I saw on the news that Nissan, Tesla, and Chevy are forming a lobbying coalition to convince the government to extend the credit.

From what Tesla tells me, the 200k requisite # was met this quarter, which means the full credit is good they the end of the quarter. After this quarter it becomes a half-credit for 6 months, and then no more.

Wow, I cannot believe it has been a year since we bought Ms. Tessessella. She already had a well-Tesla check and has 9,500 miles on the odo (came with 500 as it was a demo). We drove her to WA wine country for a fun weekend in the sun and to test out the free supercharger, but mostly she was traveling to Mr.'s work, Costco, kiddo’s place, and the airport.

Only one unpleasant surprise so far: WA charged us $150 “EV road fee” (I suppose the tax we would have paid by buying gas). So no breaks there.

fyi – you have to take delivery of the car by Dec 31 to obtain the full tax credit. (assuming Congress doesn’t extend it.)
