Mine was admitted 9/12 but took a little over two weeks for the packet. Some get theirs right away while some have said it has taken up to a month. Hopefully any day now!
Folks, can anyone shed more light on Blinn program. How does it compare with the full admission.
I am contemplating along with UTD CS, Rutgers CS and UIUC - Industrial.
UIUC is turning out to be rather expensive.
About 5 weeks! We live on the East coast, though.
Assume you’re asking about TEAB, which is the Engineering pathway?
Have you been offered TEAB?
At Rutgers and UTD, are you admitted directly to CompSci? IMO, a direct admission into specific Engineering program is the best admission possible; unless NM, all A&M Eng enter as General Engineering and have to go thru ETAM process.
yes it says - Texas A&M Engineering at Blinn.
Great! Tuition will be slightly cheaper, because some classes will be thru Blinn College.
You will still have to go thru ETAM progress…which won’t be easy, especially for CompSci.
That’s why I asked if you had direct admission to CompSci at UTD and Rutgers.
My son is on TEAM this year. They are just allowed to take basics on TEAM. He takes two classes at Rellis and 2 classes at A&M. He will fill out a transfer request to his major after his first year. His advisor things he should be good, since he has a 4.0 at A&M the first semester.
Hunter loves all things A&M. He attends the games, and works out at the rec center 5 times a week. It is a great options for kids that really want to be an Aggie.
Is RELLIS campus the same as Blinn College in Brenham? My husband is just concerned about the constant driving for our daughter if she takes the Blinn Team offer and has to commute between Brenham and College Station so often.
No…RELLIS is about 10-15 mins from the main campus. Not a long drive at all.
Oh okay! Thank you! So she would be taking 1 or 2 classes in the main campus and and the rest of classes at RELLIS with the Blinn Team program right? I apologize for all the questions, I did not go to college in the States and this is all very new and confusing to me.
RELLIS is in College Station. There is a bus that goes there from TAMU campus.
Blinn College is based in Brenham; but there are satellite campuses in Sealy, Bryan, I think a new one in Hempstead & other towns, and the RELLIS campus in Bryan also has TEAM only classes.
It gets SUPER confusing!
Only those who permanently reside in Washington County (Brenham) get the cheaper in-district rate.
Many students move to Bryan/College Station and enroll in Blinn College, assuming they’ll get cheaper tuition. Not true.
A&M and Blinn offer a bus-for TEAM and TEAB students-to get back and forth from the 2 campuses.
Yes for sure. When 20+ kids are NMSF from a high school, that is extremely competitive.
My OOS DS got accepted into TAMU physics major (his choice) in Jan and we haven’t done much research. I tried to contact admissions on what it takes to make it to honors class in natural science department and got a vague answer with some URLs. Any suggestion on how to apply for honors program in natural science department? (SAT 1510/4.0/research paper/science club president/couple of international/national award. waiting for scholarship results for OOS (end of Feb). appreciate any pointers. thanks
Here’s the link for Departmental Honors programs, not every major/college has Honors.
Don’t hold out hope for OOS scholarship money, be thrilled if he gets anything.
that was very kind of you. it does point to departmental honors. will ask my DS to explore and leave me out of it Thank you.
Happy to help, each HNR dept has their own timeline and deadlines to apply. Never mess around at A&M…apply as soon as things open, never wait to apply the last day.
My son indicated he didn’t want any options other than full admit, so he just got what I think is a soft rejection (thank god) - PSA for engineering. This has been a learning experience and I’m so glad he can move on now.
My son has heard nothing yet. His AIS still has the change major button. His major choices were History (1) and Anthropology (2) which are both still available according to the manage application/change major link. My question is this, if he is an outright rejection why not let him know? Do they keep his application in review for any possibility of admit since his major choices are not full?
Sorry for the delay. The drive is around 15 minutes. You will want to buy a parking pass if your student has a car. It is best to just get a parking pass for A&M, since it works at Rellis too. My son has a 100 lot parking pass. If you do not have a vehicle, the bus for Rellis is in front of the MSC.
