Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

Very few get an outright rejection (unless there were flaws with application or inaccuracy, perhaps incredibly low scores).
When Change of Major disappears, pretty safe PSA is coming.

My senior is still waiting to hear back from TAMU … but today she was notified that she was accepted to UT Austin. I’m baffled. Thrilled for her, but baffled!

We always hear about how random college admissions are and I’m here to tell you - there’s NO rhyme or reason!!

She was looking forward to joining her sister at TAMU. But what will be will be…

Congratulations to your son btw! TAMU is fantastic.

Admissions are crazy. My daughter found out tonight she was accepted to UT Austin also. I’m happy she has options but this was very unexpected. I believe at the end of the day - she will still choose TAMU!

That’s amazing. Congrats.

Chiming in on admission craziness. Mine was admitted to McCombs at UT Austin. She almost didn’t apply because she’s been set on TAMU since day one and still is!
I feel like I need to edit and add that she does have high stats and “fit to major” but her test scores are “only” 94th percent vs the perfect scores you typically here about so didn’t think it was likely.

Hi. So my daughter received a business honors scholarship from Texas A&M. However, she’s also receiving a couple of outside scholarships from high school. Do you know if those outside scholarships would impact the amount she receives from business honors? Meaning, would Texas A&M reduce her business honors scholarship once they find out about the outside scholarships? Thank you.

Congrats! Outside awards/scholarships won’t have any bearing on BH and/or university scholarships.

Can’t shout it loud enough… BH is FANTASTIC!

Thank you. She hasn’t committed because she’s still waiting on five schools. However, TAMU is very much in the lead right now.

Doesn’t the above data mean that the SAT at the 75th percentile is 1380, and then the average SAT among all the kids in the entire top 25% is 1461? In other words, the 75th percentile kid is at 1380, but 87.5th percentile kid (perhaps the average/median of the top 25%) is roughly 1461?

1461 with standard deviation of 51 means the range of majority in the group is 1461-51=1410 and 1461+51 = 1512

I was accepted to TAMU in October itself, filed the honors application too but haven’t received any information about scholarship or merit or acceptance to honors. Did anyone receive any info about merit or honors. Just little worried. I am OOS

Congrats!
Unless NMSF, don’t expect merit scholarship, especially if OOS (unless going into Corps of Cadets).
Applications are still open for Eng HNR, so few decisions have been sent out.

Thank you; I misread your original post.

Have any kids ever been auto to TEAM, accepted their TEAM offer and then changed by TAMU to full admit if spots open up? Not something we’re counting on but just curious.

Last year, I believe that happened. May have been a couple of years ago. Not sure. So yes, but very unlikely.

I was on the thread last year, and I don’t recall this happening.

Has anyone who got the 3 options and selected Team only still not heard? Asking for a friend with twins who both got 3 options. One selected Team only - still hasn’t heard anything, and the other one selected both options and hasn’t heard anything. I know it’s common for the both options to not hear until later but just checking to see if anyone else that chose Team only is still waiting.

I just heard a few that have picked TEAM only, and have gotten TEAM right away. My friend’s son had the 7 tabs a few days later after picking TEAM.
