Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

I do not see it mentioned on this page under scholarships.

Thank you. Was it awarded early on? Or was it later in the spring?

No, I was wondering if any other Gateway kids did so thanks for asking!

Presidents Endowed Scholarships are listed under the National Scholars tab. Awarded to National Merit Finalists and Semifinalists. National Scholars - Aggie One Stop $3000 per year for four years.

My BHer accepted/registered for NSC in February and received PES notification within a week or two.
Hard to say for certain if the timing coincided with scholarships being awarded OR if she needed to accept first.

@RachelMTAMU94 is corrrect-PES amount can be found under National Scholars link-as it is automatic for NMSF.

Hmm. I was under the impression that it was for high gpa and high test scores. This makes it seem like national merit is required. thank you

Technically, that’s right. Minimum SAT of 1300 with a high GPA to get a PES, but since the NMF and NMSF get it automatically, I don’t know that a lot of non-NM kids get it. pes.pdf

I don’t know who gets PES these days, besides NMSF. My kids had perfect GPAs, high test scores, NM Commended and both got $0. Class of ‘28 and Class of ‘29. Oldest is BH and second hopes for EH.

my older child didn’t receive anything from TAMU either a few years ago. went elsewhere for college.

@AETX did your kids submit university scholarship application when applying? Fill out FAFSA? Did your BHer submit Returning Student scholarship link & FAFSA this year?

Yes to all! :slightly_smiling_face: Still no scholarships in either portal. Hoping the returning student might still get one.

Do you know if TAMU can/will award up until Sept?

My rising Freshman son has two friends with similar scores and stats to his. They are both Corps and got Opportunity Awards. My guess is nowadays NMSF and Corps are the majority of scholarship recipients, but it’s difficult to know for sure.

They can definitely give awards/scholarships even after the school year starts!

I know specifically PES, Lechner & McFadden academic scholarships have to be ‘accepted’ by a certain date. One friend had been awarded (and accepted) McFadden, but just before the deadline to accept, he was bumped up to PES! I also recall someone whose kid never checked portal, missed the deadline to accept, and was outta luck.
There is a ceremony for PES shortly after school starts.

NMSF, Corps, identified Century Scholar school students, Brown & Terry scholars probably make up the majority of scholarship recipients.

Major specific awards/scholarships can definitely be awarded sophomore, junior & senior years.

Yep! Thanks!

I keep seeing people say TAMU is taking 15K freshman students… I want to be sure that we are specific here for future incoming freshman PLUS transfer students that do not have a guaranteed spot through PSA or PTA.

TAMU, over at least the next 5 -7 years, will admit 11,750 freshman and 3250 transfer students each fall. One can assume those transfers that come from PSA/PTA will take away from the 3250. Those coming from Galveston will just matriculate as a change of major to main campus and not sure where they fit into the numbers.

I’ve always been a fan of straight transfer, but at this point as we move into TAMU really cutting back, seems like PTA and PSA are better options if you want a guarantee.
