Thank you!
When I applied I was automatically put into the engineering LLC as per my selection so I just was not aware on how non LLC students selected, sorry for the confusion!
There is an old spreadsheet floating around that had the dates for dorm selection, and what was leftover on each date. From my memory, she has an excellent chance. Also, will have the opportunity to change selection all summer if something opens up, so don’t give up even if there is not space initially.
Must say that TAMU admissions programs have been the most welcoming and impressive of anywhere we have seen. The student ambassadors are very well-spoken and genuine, too. And that’s only the virtual meetings! My son is headed there this weekend for LEAD Summit followed by an overnight with the Corps of Cadets. He’s excited to be there in person!
Is there anyone here whose kid applied to TAMU ENGINEERING, TOP 10%, applied on time with all the completed requirements and did NOT get accepted to the main college station campus during this admission cycle? Thanks!
Define ‘applied on time’-August 1, November 30?
Test optional or scores submitted?
Was your student admitted to TAMUG? TEAB?
My student will apply next year:). Trying to determine if auto-admit engineering students all get college station. Thanks!
If you apply early, with scores. They go through another review, so not necessarily selected for main campus. You’ll get into university, but maybe not engineering.
For Blinn - Engineering. It says that you are coenrolled for 2 years. Per my understanding, if 2 maths and science courses are done at blinn in 1st year, then you completely move to A&M in 2nd year post ETAM. How does it work. Any inputs
Yes, once you ETAM for 2nd year, you’ll be fully at TAMU campus but still have the option to take some of the basic core courses at Blinn if you wanted. Those that do TEAM (non engineering) typically stay 2 years in co-enrollment.
Has anyone been accepted to Engineering Honors yet this year?
There is no such thing as auto admit for engineering. Your student is auto admit for the university. The college of engineering is more selective and will let you know at a date slightly later than their university acceptance date.
No! We are still waiting! I think they said May 1st which seems like a really long time to wait!
Hey everyone! It’s been a while. After a long while of debate with counselors, teachers and my parents, I’ve decided to go to HCC. It’s not the outcome I was expecting at all this cycle, especially after grinding out the last 4 years as much as possible; however it ended up being the best option (since I’m not in the best circumstances financially). My plan is to re-apply to get stellar grades and re-apply to Mays for admission in fall 2026. I know how competitive it can be, so I’ll also be applying to backups. But hopefully, I’ll gig 'em next year!
Though in the end I got a dreaded PSA offer, thank you to everyone who sent words of encouragement my way and gave incredibly helpful advice
Have you looked at LoneStar also? Teacher and admin friends recommend LoneStar over HCC. LoneStar has much newer campuses, as well-more true ‘college campus’ atmosphere vs most HCC facilities.
Since you’re not ‘in district’ to either, I’d consider LoneStar…
Yeah, I’ve considered both but I think HCC might be the best option for me since I’m already a dual credit student under HCC and it’s a closer commute from home
Sounds like you have a good plan. I agree with Lonestar over HCC if possible.
Also, please be sure you follow the pathway to Mays course sheet. It’s very specific and most cannot do it for the following fall (sophomore year) simply because there are so many requirements that must be met prior to application.
What dual credit do you have, if any?
My daughter has been accepted TEAM Blinn and wants to be in the Corps. Is doing both manageable? Do most students use the bus to drive to Blinn classes or rely on their own cars? Is it easy to make a schedule for both campuses? Do Team students find it more challenging to make a “home” on main campus? Lastly, would be beneficial for her to come back down for another visit to get a visual on Blinn in relation to everything else? Thanks for answering my MANY questions:)
That’s a lot to unpack, but here we go!
Yes, totally manageable to do both. She’ll do classes at Rellis and then opposite days do classes on main campus. Living on campus of course and a great shuttle system between the campuses. She’ll get into a groove and figure that out.
Every TEAM student enjoys their time and it passes by so fast. They won’t be treated differently and will find their people, especially if in the corps.
Best of luck. And absolutely come back for a visit to Rellis campus. It’s a 10 minute straight shot from main campus (just have to go thru our crazy intersection on 2818 and University drive.
Yup! I’ve been drafting courses I’ll take, and luckily, the required courses for Mays transfers are ones I’ve taken the AP version of in high school, so even if it’s not the exact same, I’ll have some background knowledge. I have dual credit for ENGL 1301 and 1302, both are As.
