Okay great. Definitely stay under the 30 credits so the completed requirements are less. Once you hit 30… they up it and it’ll take longer than a year to get it done before application. Sitting at 6 hours now is good. May want to take a math over the summer so that maths are complete by January.
Edited to ask… are you going for BUaD or bba? There’s a big difference in requirements.
Yes, I’ve seen. I’m planning on starting this summer and taking MATH 1324 so that I can take Calc 1 in the fall and apply by January. It should all be easy enough since I’m in AP Calc BC right now. I’m going for Finance so I’m applying to their BUAD program.
DS chose waitlist only. No updates yet (other than yellow banner that reads ‘you have been placed on the waitlist but declined consideration for TEAM’).
Love how my kid was treated by TAMU, thought about taking advantage of in-state tuition and commit, but I can also sense the light from his eyes when he delivered the good news from other top schools.
just a straight admit within a few days after application submitted at the last minute, no nonsense, he is auto, maybe that matters. not like UT, first a defer, then a COLA, another letter from the president congratulations on admission, who needs a COLA? UT needs to revamp its admission system.
UT cannot revamp their admissions system because they are bound by state legislative restraints that other public universities aren’t. They receive THOUSANDS of applications every cycle by perfect gpa, 10+ AP all scores of 5 auto admits who all want to major in McCombs, CS or other impacted majors. There literally is no way to distinguish between these exceptional applicants who all are of the same caliber so they have to go even deeper and find that glimmer of unicorn dust that somehow puts one applicant a scant smidgen above the other. Does it make sense, no…but neither does a lottery. And that’s what UT Admissions is for certain auto admits…a lottery.
TAMU is different in that auto admits who apply early enough are guaranteed their major, no fuss, no muss (except of course engineering which has a second holistic review but honestly we all know any calculus ready auto admit who applies by October is getting into General Engineering).
I know it can seem personal, but it isn’t. I’ve been through both TAMU admissions and UT Admissions with my three kids and it made no sense that my eldest got PSA..but then my twin #2 got into UT being just shy of the 6% auto admit…again, it was like a lottery draw. At the end of the day, we really don’t know what the people are looking for when they review and read apps, but when they see it/read it, they know.
The good news is you obviously have a brilliant student that will be successful and bloom where they are planted!
I hear you, I am just not a fan of UT cap, cola , CS ATP and many other creative stuff UT invented, plain rejection is fine. There has to exist a simpler way to handle this, but is not on our to do list .
Meh, both need massive improvement. A&M needs to stop doing Rolling Admissions and they need to start having Business and probably Sciences as separate reviews. Both schools should also do composite vs single sitting SAT scores. So much of what both schools do is out of synch with the rest of the country.
The model to look to is Georgia Tech. EA round for in state is Oct 15 with a decision in December. OOS EA is Nov 1 and decision after RD application cycle closes. Gives a huge advantage and courtesy to In State students with a very consistent decision process. OOS is really tough but that’s how it should be for a State school. This system also means they get through all the In State before looking at OOS.
My son is accepted to Engineering at both but the experience at both has been disorganized and disappointing. He got his A&M acceptance and Eng quickly but had to rush to get them in. Now still waiting on Engineering Honors. UT had the complete cluster deferral mess and then accepted him.
Still crickets. Looking like my lifelong Aggie son will be a Georgia Bulldog barring a late full admit. UT still in play but that one is not his first choice major (but with honors).
