Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

Items listed under “optional documents” are not required for the application to be considered complete. Scholarship is considered optional. We are also experiencing the error message when trying to pay the application fee in AIS. Will try again later today

I understand this, but he wants to be considered for the scholarships and the way it looks the info is missing. I am guessing it will show up as complete in time. I was just able to pay the fee for the application so it looks like things are moving.

So nobody has gotten their AIS info that’s applied through Common App? :upside_down_face:

Someone posted in the 2029 Aggie FB group that they called and that it could be next week due to them being backed up.

It wouldn’t let me edit my comment but wanted to clarify that the reason given was not that they were backed up but that “their system was behind” Don’t want to share misinformation.

We have all green check marks in the required section as of this morning and the application is under review. Yay!

The scholarship section still has a big red X and the info button says he didn’t fill out the questions. We can clearly see that he answered them all when we download his application. We used Apply Texas to apply and I heard there have been glitches in Apply Texas so I’m wondering if this is one. Or maybe it will resolve itself as we get further on in the process. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Edited to add: It appears that several people are having this problem over on a FB page. Someone has contacted admissions about it.

We are having the same problem with the ApplyTexas scholarship indicator on AIS. Hoping that they fix it soon.

I’m not sure if anyone here can truly know the answer to these questions have have filling out the A&M section of Common App, but I’m hoping so! (This is our first child so this is all new to us.)

  1. When they ask about interest in Blinn Team, there are 3 options: Yes, No, and Not sure at this time. If we select yes, will they really give my son full consideration for regular admittance? If we select “Not sure at this time” would they still possibly offer him Blinn Team? We truly don’t know right now. We want to learn more about it. Don’t want to close that door, but want full consideration for regular admittance.

  2. For the Scholarship section, they ask for money/income information in several places, but they are not required fields. Should we enter that info? Trying to decide if we should or not.

Family section:

If your student isn’t auto admit, :100: select
‘yes interested’…if they want to be an Aggie.

Yes, they will be considered for full admission.. Remember, TAMU wants the best candidates that will succeed at tamu starting freshman year. IF they feel your student would do better on Team, then that is an offer they could get. BUT if they think they’ll do just fine starting at TAMU full admit, then that’s the offer they get. There is so much research and analytics that go on for admissions. While some don’t get the decision they feel they deserve, they typically rebound and succeed with whatever option is given (even if it’s straight community college to start) and get themselves to Aggieland ASAP with a strong foundation to succeed and carryout their remaining time in College.

Thanks for that great response, I really appreciate it!

Scholorship essays seem alot. Do they give scholoship to merit based students?

Another question: Letters of Recommendation

TAMU website says LORs “should be uploaded via the Applicant Information System”

Our High school has Xello, which we connect to Common App. We are able to request the teachers attach their LORs through Xello, and then it connects it with Common App.

Anyone do something like this? Due to wording on TAMU website, I’m wondering if we should just go through AIS and NOT the Xello/Common App route? (I do take things literally, so not sure if they accept other methods since they didn’t mention it.)

Thanks!

I just got information from someone who has looked into it and they were told that it has been corrected in the AIS system and it should correct itself tomorrow morning.

Frustration with Apply Texas.
Daughter has typed in her responses to the short answer questions and keeps getting the " Input cannot include non-ASCII characters" response another student experienced. Non of these special characters are in her answers and everything has been typed by hand -no copy/paste. She’s logged out and back in and it’s the same. Strangely, there isn’t an issue with the scholarship questions but because of this issue she can’t move forward and add her main essay to complete her application. Contacted Technical Support and they’ll get back to her in 5 business days.

She has everything ready on Common App, but felt she could fit more of her activities on Apply Texas with the separate pages for employment and volunteering. I’m thinking just submit with Common App. She’s wanting to put this to bed tonight.
Anyone else having this problem?

It is her apostrophes and quotation marks. At least that was my son’s problem. Very frustrating to find them all but he copied and pasted line by line and found them all.

I’ll have her try that. Thanks!
