Did your son use Apply Texas or Common APP?

I know 7 tabs mean they are accepted but not sure what engineering review means? (So will hold off on saying Congrats until I do :slightly_smiling_face:) And wow that’s amazingly fast, especially given all the glitches.

Still no AIS portal email over here and it seems that the system updates overnight so guessing nothing today. Continuing to be patient

He used Apply Texas.

According to the thread from last year, Engineering Review is what all engineering applicants see at this point in the process so it was expected. Trust me, we are excited about getting into the university itself but won’t celebrate until we know about him getting into engineering.

Sorry about no AIS for you yet.

Congrats and thank you for sharing the timeline. That was extremely fast.

Can you provide stats as well, rank, scores and any unusual EC that may stand out (not the normal honor society, sports team etc).

Thank you.

WOW! Lightning speed!

These are the 7 tabs he has?

Where did you hear this? Is this new? I thought we would receive a UIN number within 2-4 business days.

my son had that issue from copy/paste from google docs. he discovered if he highlighted the text, italicized it, de-italicized it, and then pasted, the ASCII error message went away. hope that helps.

Last year we used Common App and here was our timeline:

Submitted app 8/1
Downloaded 8/4
AIS access 8/8
SRAR linked and application in review 8/10

WE ARE NOT TOP 10%, but both sons are NM Commended.

We are a little (actually a lot) frustrated!

With our first son (currently starting sophomore year in engineering at TAMU) he used ApplyTexas, and everything moved quickly as it appears to be doing this cycle as well.

With our second son (applying now), ApplyTexas was so glitchy (the ASCII issue) that he switched to Common App, and that was extremely smooth. HOWEVER, he is waiting for the AIS email (and the Common App shows his app is submitted…not downloaded from the school).

It is frustrating to see ApplyTexas applicants receiving their AIS email and getting all the tabs!

Our second son is top 10%, so we know he’ll be admitted, but he wants business, so he feels the pressure to get this all done ASAP.

Sure, I can provide them here.

Rank: 1 out of 18

GPA: Unweighted 4.0

SAT: R/W 730 Math 750 (Total 1480)

EC: He is in a very small 1A private school where he is on the Cross Country (State Top 15 freshman and sophomore years), Track/Field (State Top 8 freshman and sophomore years), Golf, Choir (TMEA Area choir all 3 years) and Band. He is also a Life Scout on track to be Eagle Scout by graduation.

He also took many courses that have an honors designation and will graduate with 15 Dual Credits.

What App is this?

Just spoke to an admissions counselor at a different university. We submitted Common App to 2 schools on 8/4 and neither have been downloaded yet. She said they received notification yesterday that no Common Apps would be sent to the university until 8/15, which seems consistent with what others have been hearing. Sounds like we’ve got another week to wait!

That’s the student Howdy portal.
Those are the coveted ‘7 tabs’ every student needs/wants.
