Yep, that is why I wasn’t too upset that we didn’t get him signed up around 9am along with everyone else but, the stress of the back and forth calling and them having him in the system wrong is what bothering worrying me. Especially now that they say we may have problems in other phases. I am also concerned that if he want to go Galveston instead that the system will be messed up there too. Yes, I am a worrier. He is my one and only child, so it comes with the territory. Anyway, all is good for now so on to waiting for his engineering review to turn into general engineering.
My daughter is a sophomore CoSci major at A&M. She is minoring in business. She looked at Georgia (Landscape Architecture), OU, Arky, and Miami (Architectural Engineering). Oklahoma State has a solid CoSci department too, but she did not consider it. TAMU was her first choice (regardless of major), so once she got accepted, she declined the others.
TAMU’s CoSci program is amazing - but soph year is very difficult, esp for kids who have zero construction / real world experience. The great thing about TAMU’s CoSci program is the post-graduate employment rate. It is well above the “average” for college grads, even at A&M. Starting salaries are high too. And the Aggie network for CoSci majors is incredible. She loves it so far, but definitely challenging.
Not surprisingly, CoSci is a super popular major for Corps guys, students whose family members work in construction and frustrated civil engineering majors. It is also a landing spot for many Mays and Engineering hopefuls that weren’t admitted in time to secure spots in those majors. So full of smart kids. It is a great blend of architecture, civil engineering and business.
Does A&M applied students have a place to add resume on their portal? Daughter just submitted the application last night, we haven’t gotten the portal access yet, so just wondering
Yes, you do it in the “my documents” section of the AIS portal.
Auburn also has a COSC program but we didn’t look into it as we want to stay in state. They call it Building Science. You’d have to compare curriculum to see how it differs.
Why did I think cosci was part of engineering? Is it not?
When we logged into the housing portal this morning, we got the “you aren’t in the system” message, so we used an incognito browser and had no problem. We completed phase I at 9:11am. I think the housing portal has cookies or whatever technical term that were messing us up.
It is in the College of Architecture at A&M. Some schools offer Construction Engineering in the Engineering Dept. But not TAMU.
I think he has a solid chance. Course rigor helps for sure. Arch and Cosci are small colleges. Hopefully he’ll hear before January. There’s definitely a good possibility. Nothing is guaranteed of course. Some with less than 1400 do not get in or get alternative pathway like Team. Hang in there. Once holistics start hearing, we’ll know more about the sat score.
How much time it takes from common app submission to usually getting all the ticks. I submitted the app yday night.
Mine applied on 8/1 and got AIS access on 8/9 but I think it may be happening a lot quicker now, maybe just 1-3 business days.
Once you get AIS access you will need to link the SRAR and that takes at least another business day to update to green. If you’re top 10 percent you’ll also need a transcript to get all the green checks! It can all happen pretty quickly considering the volume of applications! Good luck!
Here’s the timeline so far for my son (holistic review):
Thursday 8/8 Submitted CA to TAMU
Tuesday 8/13 Downloaded by TAMU
Tuesday 8/13 Received netID email
Wednesday 8/14 Able to log in to AIS
Wednesday 8/15 SRAR and other docs sent to TAMU
Tuesday 8/20 Freshman Application received by TAMU and status “complete and in review”
Daughter applied on Thursday night too. Got access to AIS today and linked SRAR. Looks like it takes a day to update like others mnetioned.
Any holistic review applicants seeing 7 tabs yet? Hoping this is our week (fingers crossed)
A&M doesn’t download rec letters from common app?
Do they mean they want the student to upload the rec letter? Daughter says “asking my teacher to give me the rec letter so I can upload it doesn’t sound right”. Is she reading this right? She sent the question to A&M
We asked the same question about whether the letters of recommendation that were in Common App went through since they did not show in the Documents Received list. Admissions replied that they did not show any as received even though the letters were definitely in Common App for days before submission. Had to request the recommenders send them again but through the AIS request for document instead of through Common App.
Thank you for your reply, where exactly can student request from AIS?
What major, test scores and rank?
This seems to be one of those mystery questions that nobody can get a clear answer to. In the FB group some said they specifically asked through AIS and were told that yes they would be pulled from the common app but I have yet to see that happen–or maybe that just isn’t done until later in the application process since right now it’s auto-admits getting accepted (which mine is too but wants the LOR for possible honor program considerations)
I advised my daughter to ask her Teachers if they would mind sending her the letters directly (they had already uploaded to common app) and explained that one school needed her to upload them directly to their portal. If they had said no, she would have asked them to mail the letters. But neither of them had any problem sending her the letters and now she has them available for any outside scholarships or anything else she may need them for. Once she uploaded them to the portal she could see within a day or two that they were in under the “received documents” section. You could also request them through the “request items from my school counselor” in AIS.
Thank you for detailed response. Its not just us then, we thought she is not looking at the right place in AIS to send request. Daughter said she will wait for the response from Admissions office and see what they say then make a decison on how to go about it. Again, thank you for sharing what you guys did, she may do the same later if needed.
