Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

Howdy! I received my 7 tabs this morning and official acceptance this afternoon for Mays Business School (holistic applicant). So grateful and excited to officially be an Aggie!! Committed & registered for NSC. I am now trying to apply for housing but am having some trouble. It will not allow me to login/says I am not in housing system. If anyone has any guidance regarding the steps to apply to housing, please let me know!! Is anyone experiencing something similar? Or could it be overflow of people trying to get onto the housing portal? Just want to complete everything correctly and get it done! Gig ‘em :+1:t3:

Congrats! My daughter is Mays too! Great timing, because registration for NSC just opened up today for everyone already admitted.

The housing portal can take a day or two so try again tomorrow.

Can you tell us your stats?

Holistic review daughter, applied 8/1 via Common App, seven tabs on 10/2, AIS acceptance 10/3, envelope arrived 10/11.

Stats, in case it helps anyone: Top quartile assigned by TAMU (she goes to a small private school that doesn’t rank the kids below top 10%), 4.0 unweighted GPA (94+ on the 100 scale used by her school), SAT 1380/ACT 30, great variety of EC. Major is Kinesiology (pre-PT).

If it helps, it only took 8 days for our packet to come in the mail (AIS acceptance 10/3, envelope came 10/11), so he won’t have to wait a month to find out even if he doesn’t log in and check AIS on his own (and you really want it to be a surprise and haven’t already told him by now…I couldn’t wait LOL).

Thank you! I told him I’d read on here that admissions decisions might be posted today so he might want to log in. All true statements based on last week’s timing of 2 days. He did this morning and saw he’d been accepted. He’s excited!

Congratulations! My husband and I were trying to figure out the best way to nudge our daughter to check the portal after she got home from school after we saw her seven tabs last week, but her boyfriend spilled the beans about his own seven tabs and prompted her to check while she was still at school LOL.

Sure! Here is a brief overview: I applied Aug. 1, 28 ACT, 3.9 gpa, I go to a non-ranking very competitive HS in Tx. Classes taken were AP or honors. Ranked 1st Quarter in AIS. I had lots of strong EC & multiple internships. Varsity Athlete x4 and captain. Received several National Recognition awards. I also attended several A&M student outreach programs! I hope this helps!

Got it about ETAM. Here are my daughter’s stats
OOS and our HS does not rank.
GPA UW -4.0; 1520 SAT
ECs are in a mix of robotics/coding + Piano (CML Lvl 8)

We are excited by her admit!

Thoughts on this: https://www.mytexasfuture.org/middle-high-school/direct-admissions/

Interested in how this works…

My initial skeptical thoughts are that I think it probably just takes what you can already find on all the websites using rank, GPA and plugs that in for auto admits, assured admission etc. but those who aren’t ranked or typically already holistic wouldn’t learn anything new. Someone posted that they tested it out and that’s what they got!

do yall know whether applying for engineering honors early is a benefit… it’s due next February and I’m wondering if I should get that done before getting other scholarships done.

I have tried it, that is exactly what it does. Wasn’t useful for me, but maybe for some people! (e.g. someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing/where they’re going after HS)

yes, a great way to streamline things and make it easier to see all at once!

ALWAYS apply early, for everything, at A&M.
Never, ever wait.

NSC questions- My son was given 5 NSC dates to choose from in AIS. Does this mean those are the only NSC conferences for his major all summer, or just the only ones he is allowed to choose from? The fall 2025 NSC dates aren’t listed online yet so I can’t tell. Just curious if he is required to choose from those 5 dates, or will there be more options available once they are released on the website? He will be in Mays and the 5 dates he was given are all May/early June plus one date in mid July. Thanks!

There should be more for Mays. Not sure why it’s only giving you 5 options. Gone Tamu website and see if more are listed. They may not have all their dates out there yet.

Editing to say, they have not released them all but more are coming.

FWIW, three years ago, people were beginning to get acceptances to Engineering Honors around mid-December. My daughter had been busy with school and still hadn’t finished her application at that point, but I nudged her to get it in. I think she finally submitted it around the holidays. She got accepted to EH in February just fine.

I don’t have any other data. And things could change over the years. But that’s our experience. You decide if you need to rush or not.

If I recall correctly, when you see those dates in AIS, it says at the top that those are the dates available for your specific major.

When they finally list all the dates on the NSC website, it will be a long list and you have to click (+) to expand and read which majors are covered during that NSC. The list in AIS did the hard work for you and filtered by that major.

EDIT: I reread @Christi1993 's response and 5 choices does seem very limited for a large major like Business. My D29 has a small major (Viz), so when we saw the list of 5 dates in Summer 2025, we didn’t question it. I remember seeing the Summer 2024 list and thinking, “Well, about every third NSC has Viz, so we have about a handful of dates before things get hectic like Fish Camp and Impact Retreat.”
