Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

That’s so interesting. Learn something new every day. And I’m glad they changed it. It was really confusing. Thanks.

My daughter just got her October SAT score (1270) and we are debating about whether to sign her up for the November test. We get mixed messages about whether there is time to do that. College Board confirmed they will have the scores sent to the colleges by November 29th if we pay the rush fee. But then I’m not sure A&M will have it put in their system in time for the Dec. 15 deadline. She improves her score each time she takes the test, but I hate to go through a bunch of tutoring if we aren’t sure the score will make it to TAMU in time. Any thoughts/advice/experience much appreciated!

What major did she apply under?

November score will make the document deadline.

Is there a thread for 2029 admitted students yet? I was going to ask a phase 2 housing question but didn’t want to junk up this thread if it was no longer the place for it.

I’ll start one.

I have submitted revised SAT score. Application was showing in review earlier, hope this will be factored in the review going forward. Any thoughts

Good morning! I have a credit question here. So, I’m trying to figure out how many classes I placed out of according to my degree plan as a future Mays business student for fall 2025. Last year, I took AP Lang and got a 4, which covers Engl. 104 and 241. This year, I am taking DC English 1301 and 1302, which I believe is basically just a repeat of last year and not getting me any new credits that would help my degree plan. Can anyone confirm? Would taking AP Lit. been the better option as it covers 104 and 203? Thank you

Correct, you will not get double credit. DC trumps AP credit because it’s a non negotiable. DC will always count (assuming they match a course at Tamu, which most do).

As for your AP counting towards 2 different English courses, it should still count towards the other one.

Thank you! I am thinking that moving to AP lit might be good to also gain credit for 203. Ideally, I want to complete all English requirements before getting to A&M. I am interested in graduating a semester early from A&M, and wonder how possible/feasible that is at Mays? I have other AP credits and plan to take a couple of CLEP exams to earn more credits.

I wouldn’t change it. I’d keep your English 104 and then you’ll take a public speaking or bus tech writing to fulfill the other. These are better for a business degree.

And didn’t you say you already fulfilled 203 with your 104?

Wait sorry. You said 241. That’s not a course that is approved by AP at Tamu

Maybe look at taking one of your pols or history or econs to get rid of before beginning at tamu. If you take summer school and wintermesters you can easily graduate in 3.5 years. not an issue at all. Many students will take some of their core classes at Blinn or their local junior college for summer and or minimesters.

Ok, awesome. Good to know about summer school/wintermesters (assuming that is classes taken during the long Christmas break?).

Here’s a degree plan I’m trying to cross classes off from and just match credits. My concern was just that my current DC was a waste of time as it only gives credit for 104 which I already have whereas taking AP lit covers 104 AND 203. Thank you so much again!

Okay great. I didn’t see the AP on the website for credit for 203. Not sure why. But I have found it now that matches yours so phew.

So that’s great. But aren’t you already mid semester? How can you switch now?

I would just self-self study (with the course on Modern States which offers it) if switching were not an option and then take the exam in May :+1:t3:

Hi, first time posting here - just checked the admissions portal for my son but got ‘Internal Error. An error occurred while processing your request.’ It was fine yesterday with ‘complete and in review’. Had the ‘7 tabs’ yesterday morning but under ‘Manage Applications’ it still says ‘Under Review’ as of now. I hope the ‘internal error’ is a sign for changing the status, so wondering if anyone else has the same experience?

Stat: OOS, engineering, GPA3.8/1st quarter.

Thanks.

Now it changed to

Hang in there. If he had 7 tabs yesterday, then I’m sure all will be good as soon as it’s up and running and you’ll get the whoop you’ve been admitted status. It can take a day or two.

Please keep us posted tho.

A question about dorm selection…dorm picking is following the time stamp of placing housing deposit or registering NSC ( accepting TAMU offer)?
My son is interested in modular hall, but he is also waiting for his reach schools he would probably hear back some time in Jan. We paid housing deposit ( phase1) in early Oct. Just not sure if waiting till Jan to register NSC does he still have chance to pick his better dorm choice.
