Has anyone heard a decision from business honors?
If we applied to Engineering first week of August, not top 10% applicant, and still have heard nothing should we assume that she will get alternate pathway or no admittance? Or is it too early to say yet? She’s had “in review” since Aug 7.
Unless very high stats/scores, holistic reviews typically don’t start rolling out until January…
as stated on the A&M website.
I believe engineering applicants will hear back by December 15th with either admitted or pushed to regular decision date.
Not yet! I figured it was still early.
BH invites/acceptances start going out November 1st. They only send acceptances, no ‘thank you for applying’ replies.
Good to know! Not holding our breath over here considering last year they had 1950 applicants for 85 spots.
I think it was closer to 3k. It’s SUPER competitive.
BUT…I sound like a broken record…I PROMISE Mays is FANTASTIC, BH or not! The key to Mays (and A&M) is to get involved. Join an org (or more), attend football games/all athletic events, attend MaysFest, don’t come home on the weekends, go on a Mays study abroad, etc:
has anyone heard from BH yet? Thanks!!
Most likely yes, but I haven’t seen anyone comment or post.
My son didn’t find out until the beginning of March this year that he got into BH. He emailed end of Feb to check since the letter said he would be notified by Feb.
According to FB groups and reddit, Mays is full and people are being admitted to their second choice majors. Not sure if this is earlier than previous years or around the same time?
Around the same time, it’s been earlier, too.
@Christi1993 keeps up with the Mays dates.
I haven’t seen this with anyone Im working with directly or on here. Typically we’ll see it here first, but this cycle of parents have been way less vocal than prior years. Being mid November, the likelihood of Mays being full is high.
Just here to vent and lament a little.
Class of ‘99 (BS) and ‘00 (MS)
Wife is ‘’00
Son is HS senior and applied 8/1 with a complete file by 8/9 with Mays 1st and Econ 2nd, like everyone else.
Submitted 29 ACT originally, took it again last month and raised it to 30.
3.93 UW and first quartile with over 15 AP, advanced, honors and dual credit classes. Very competitive Frisco ISD high school. He’s made 1 “B” in his HS career in a rigorous schedule and isn’t even top 20% - don’t get me started on double blocked athletic periods.
Very strong ECs, 3-year varsity basketball captain, Former DA and ECNL soccer, 100+ service hours and demonstrated interest galore through tours, recruiting webinars, etc. (which I get doesn’t matter anymore)
Anyway, no word still and we have been seeing people post acceptances for a month who he compares very well with.
And this isn’t a pity party.
We know that TAMU is very competitive these days. We know Mays is even more so and that Econ is increasingly hard as well because so many people who Mays does not take list it second choice. Holistic reviews are tough.
Just feeling said for my son. He’s a great young man, a great athlete, a great student and is as Aggie as they come. He’s done everything the right way and with a resolve to make himself the best candidate for Texas A&M he can.
If it doesn’t work out he’ll be devastated but we also know that things will play out the way they are supposed to. He applied to some great backups and we know that there are other pathways.
I just never thought it would come to this. He is twice the prospective student than we were.
Anyway…..hope a break comes through. A&M would be passing on a great one otherwise.
@Ag99 your son sounds like a fantastic, well rounded young man!
Unfortunately his SAT and rank are going to count against him, and A&M no longer gives legacy consideration.
Hopefully he checked the box to be considered for Blinn TEAM?
Son sounds like a great candidate for Gateway admission (which you can’t apply for, it must be offered).
Hang in there! And yes, it is certainly frustrating…
It is soooo hard to wait. The 30 is a good boost for him. It used to be enough but now it’s not a guarantee.
I have seen that those who chose Mays and don’t get it because it’s full but have the application to support acceptance, hear back before January with their 2nd choice major. They will have acceptances going into early December if this is like most cycles.
Your son is a very well rounded student. I don’t think he’s a candidate for Gateway because he’s already shown his ability to handle the rigor, but worst case, he’ll get blinn team. That’s my opinion based on past experiences with many students. But I definitely feel he has a chance at econ full admit.
Please keep us posted.
If it makes you feel better, my daughter, my nieces, and my nephew got in on worse scores than your son over the past two years. All applied on or near 8/1 - the earliest one heard was Dec. 15, the latest March, and all got full admission. So don’t despair - if I had to bet, I’d bet he gets in. He may not get Mays b/c of the timing, but otherwise, his chances are solid. The waiting is brutal. I’m waiting on my HS senior son now and it is killing us.
What are the typical stats for a Gateway student? My son is 2nd quarter from a highly competitive TX high school, 3.7 GPA, test optional. Eagle Scout. Excellent essays, recs, awards, community service, extracurriculars, leadership. 4 year varsity athlete. Suffers from dyslexia and discuss that impact in essay. Communications or education major. Applied early August.
My daughter applied 8/11, and we are patiently waiting. Have any sociology holistic applicants heard back yet? I have seen other majors, but I have not heard of any sociology yet.
