Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

For the kids still waiting for engineering response - Did you get the banner in AIS stating that your decision has been moved to the regular decision time table?

My son is top 18 at his school. He applied to Engineering at the beginning of Nov, and he just accepted last week, around 1 month for processing. He applied to Aerospace Eng, but he is put in General Engineer now.

That’s great. Making sure you know they all go into gen Eng as freshman, right?

Congrats!

Congrats! All freshman enter as General Engineering. Make sure he’s familiar with ETAM process, as Aerospace is a super tough major to get.

Yes, he is General Engineer now. He also accepted into UCLA Engineer. I prefer him to stay instate. I think he got accepted due to his very high SAT and his extra curricular activities

Thanks. I am nervous with ETAM too. He must try his best

Did any holistic candidates receive 7 tabs this week? We were hoping another wave of acceptances before break but nothing on our end so far. Just wondering!

I haven’t seen any here or heard any from my students. I am surprised. I don’t think anyone has heard in December.

I read on the website that those who accepted into Engineer must take the math placement before NSC. So how the result will affect the class and ETAM?

Yes, if they place low, then they may have to take a leveling class first semester to get them up to speed and prepare them for success. So yes it can effect timing of ETAM for those students.

How does it work for OOS, to take the math placement before NSC? Does A&M have tours for admitted students (and parents), or NSC is basically that tour? Possible to take the math placement during NSC?

There is more info about the Math Placement Exam (MPE) on this website. Pre-NSC Requirements – New Student Conferences

All incoming freshman take an MPE, taken online. Must be taken prior to NSC-earlier better than later.

Campus and dorm tours are given year round-for both prospective and admitted students/parents.
No time for a tour during NSC, unless you schedule it day before or day after NSC.

How long does it take for AIS Status to be updated to Accepted after we get the WHOOP Accepted into XXX Major on the howdy portal?
App submitted on Dec1st (Auto Admit top10%). Took till Dec9th for the Transcript to be received and green checked. Dec10th howdy portal had all the tabs and also the WHOOP accepted, but the AIS still shows In Review.

Thanks

Hoping for tomorrow morning

I have not heard of any this week. I know last year, there were some that heard on Dec. 15. I’m hoping for another wave before Christmas

Future Engineering Moms …

Something I wish someone had told me when my daughter was going through the application process…

CONSIDER GALVESTON BRANCH CAMPUS.

Galveston is full acceptance to A&M, same Aggie ring, sports pass.

They spend 2 semesters there (3 if the don’t pass the MPE and have to take the extra math class)

My daughter ended up choosing Galveston last year and she has been so happy that she did.

Class sizes are small and her professors know her well and that leads to higher chances for higher grades! She has already been told to start looking for places to live in CStat and she said she is sad about it. She knew she’d need to move eventually, but has loved her time there so much!

She said she can get anywhere with a 10 min walk, knows a lot of people on campus. The cafeteria food is pretty good and she likes their midnight yell better! Her meal plan and parking pass work in CStat when she is there for the games.

They are building a very large engineering building there right now and it will be ready for Fall 2025.

Consider Galveston!

Take your kid there during school so they can see it in action!

I went to TAMUG for my first two years and loved it. The campus has grown and there is so much more there over 20 year later now. I highly recommend TAMUG. My son applied there for the option to remain open but he ultimately chose to go to TAMU. I am really hoping he doesn’t regret it coming from a very small private school where his graduating class will be 19 kids but we are leaving the decision up to him.

Same…any thing on your end?
