Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

None of the students at our school have heard this week either. Hopefully, there will be some decisions rolling out next week.

Let’s hope so…

I would expect the week of the 20th based on prior years. But you never know.

What we know is that Mays is full. I’m sure psych is also full (typically fills as quickly as Mays).

So here is the hard part and I will say it one time… IF you get an email asking you to choose Team or Tamu waitlist or both… choose wisely. If you choose team only… you’ll be accepted to team within a week or two. If you choose the other two, you have a chance at full but a greater chance at PSA. It happens every year. If you don’t want team at all, then by all means, choose waitlist only. But if open to team then choose both. If you’re like… I’d take team in a heart beat, then choose team only.

That is interesting about Psych…didn’t realize it was such a popular major.

We would be perfectly happy with Blinn Team. With that being said, have you seen where if you choose both…not given either and PSA?

At this point we are thinking Blinn Team is the most likely path for my son, if accepted, as he applied to Business school. As we are OOS, Blinn is not an option my son is interested and it is likely the same for many OOS applicants. He feels his Penn State acceptance with University Park (undecided major) is a better option for entry into Business school than Blinn. So, ultimately, the choice will be based on major and other options available to candidates.

That makes sense especially applying to Business OOS. My oldest daughters best guy friend attends Penn State Business School (Class of 2027) and absolutely loves it. He comes from a long line of Aggies but wanted to do his’ own thing and very happy with his’ decision. So definitely can’t go wrong with that route!

My oldest daughter was auto admit and admitted within a few weeks of applying so this wait for my youngest daughter is agonizing because A&M is her first choice. Wishing the best for your son. What is his’ second choice major?

This thread is not getting a lot of prior parents/students like we’ve had in the past to chime in on this type of question. The more on here the better for the accuracy of course.

With that being said… I have never seen someone choose team only and get PSA. The other two choices of both or waitlist only have definitely had a strong percentage of getting the ultimate decision of PSA. And hearing back in March or April with that decision. Very frustrating for those students and parents.

I don’t have a stat on even a guesstimated percentage tho.

He doesn’t really have any major interest other than Finance and Accounting and for TAMU he chose Mathematics as second major as a last resort. Not sure if he would accept Math at TAMU college station over Penn State University Park (undecided). For him TAMU is desirable only if he is admitted to Business school which seems unlikely now!

Our Econ dept is top notch and then he could apply to MS in finance as a sophomore great program!!

Thank you! I will relay this to my son in case he gets accepted to his second choice

I was thinking the same, so quiet. Especially compared to last year!

I’ll try to be more responsive. Went through this two years ago with twins. One was full admit in mid December. The other twin received Blinn Team on January 24. The week after she received Blinn Team (offers had also gone out the week prior), several of her classmates received the email with the options and those who selected Blinn Team only were officially accepted within two weeks. We did see others that chose both options, some were offered full admit with the new Opportunity Majors and others received Pathway options. This was in March of ‘23.

If the pattern is similar to last year, there are more full admission offers coming beginning next week and the following as well as Blinn Team and Gateway offers through the end of January. After January of last year, I believe it was only Pathway offers that were offered. For those that received an email with options to choose, it was almost a month later, or even a bit longer when they were fully accepted. Quite different from the year before.

Patience is definitely a virtue, as we learned two years ago. This blog and the wonderful moderators were a blessing. Waiting for the younger sibling to find out as well. Good luck to everyone!

Any insight as to when Decisions will go out? (OOS) Thank you.

See my two posts above. It’s a recap of the last two years. There isn’t an official timeline. Good luck!

Re can’t have more than 60 hours from TAMU and/or transfer credits for the change of major. That refers to credits earned post high school graduation. The associates degree earned in high school is not a problem.

Texas A&M University policy
College hours earned prior to graduation from high school, either through dual credit or credit by exam, will not count toward the maximum hour cap for change of major requirements.

Duplicate post. Can’t delete, can only edit to say disregard.

My daughter went to the LEAD Summit in 2022. It is not a fraternity thing. It’s a university recruitment event. It’s an invite only leadership conference for accepted students that they want to encourage to enroll. It was all expense paid (except transportation) when my daughter went. Hotel, meals, swag. It was a lot of fun. Presentations and performances. They did a drawing for a scholarship at the very end and my daughter received a $2500 scholarship. Some people left a little early and missed the drawing and you had to be present to win. But I don’t know that they do that every time. It was for the student and one parent. It normally fills very quickly. They send out way more invites than they have spots for.

Change of major vs transfer student. Wonder if it’s the same. I’ve never heard that before. Good intel. Thank you!

do you mind sharing your kiddos stats (sorry if already shared) and any recollection of the stats of the kids that received full admission that week prior. This is brutal! thanks in advance!

What quarter rank did A&M assign your student?
