Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

Has he done a Spend the Night with the Corps? I would say that is super important if he is for sure interested in the corps - sign up for the next one if he has not done one. They also have a parent session when you drop off that first night and they go over all of these questions you’ve mentioned plus have a question and answer session right after as well. In addition he will get an up close view of how the corps is including going to class the next morning, working out if he chooses, and a bunch of info sessions as well.

This is VERY helpful; THANKYOU! I feel encouraged that there are at least OPTIONS, not just flat rejections. Especially for smart hard working students who busted their tails for 4 years! More than anything, I think we just want to know! All this info is very helpful and will better prepare us whenever the offer comes. Appreciate it!

Yes he did, and that was what solidified A&M for him. The whole package. He is a History, Military fanatic, so everything about the Corp is in his wheelhouse. One of my best friends comes from a big A&M family alumni (name on new sports practice facility) and he was very kind to write my son a letter of recommendation talk to him about what all A&M has to offer, as well as another family friend who was in the corp. He gave him some great insight to the corp culture and values. All of it really is the perfect fit for him, just need to find out what pathway will get him there.

So gateway is just this coming summer, prior to first semester freshman year?? So any student who hopes for that needs to realistically keep their summer wide open without travel plans, etc?

@cmoh below is a good link for Gateway (not updated with 2025 date yet, but it’s always 2nd summer session-which you could find on main A&M academic calendar). Also link for all Pathways offered.

Since your son is in marching band, is he pursuing Aggie Band (FTAB), or straight Corps?

While the letter of recommendation sounds fantastic, unfortunately I’ve heard who writes one carries NO ‘stroke’. At A&M every building-even parking garages-are named after some big donor.
But it’s great he met with a solid Ag who sold him on TAMU.

I’d be sure son is in contact with the local A&M recruiting/admissions office in your town. Has he taken a legit campus tour? Followed up with the Corps Overnight coordinator? Spoken with and/or taken Bush School tour?
A&M likes to see documented interest shown.

If you are offered a PSA program…they specify which you are being offered as far as locations? You can’t indicate you would want Rellis as your PSA location correct?

Was hoping for another batch of admissions this morning. Feeling frustrated :frowning:

RELLIS isn’t part of PSA.
PSA offer depends-sometimes student is limited to a handful (or even one campus) or they could have the option to attend any PSA campus. It varies by student. Not every major is offered at PSA campuses, and some majors aren’t offered at all.

RE: rec letter— I really should have clarified…we aren’t native Texans so the A&M pride and tradition is something my husband and I can’t personally speak to. So our good friend (family donor, etc), really was just a valuable resource for our son and has always been an awesome Aggie role model showing him the lifelong bonds he’ll gain going to school there. He actually specified to our son (which my husband and I knew already) that his name will not do anything to get him an acceptance, but that he was honored to write one for him since he’s known him his whole life. Which is as it should be. I have more respect for any institution that truly gives admittance 100% on the grounds of credentials vs. name & donor ship. I say all of that to anyone else reading this whose children have applied. Hopefully relaying that reassurance, that while this school clearly is highly competitive, those who gain acceptance–have EARNED IT.
As for marching band, unfortunately no, he doesn’t want to continue his tenure playing. He’s just genuinely excited for all the new opportunities college will offer and really wants to get involved in anything new that peaks his interest. He REALLY wants to do the FISH Drill Team. (**Yes to Corps overnight and local A&M recruiting office. Follows them all on social media, etc.) Appreciate all your insight. SUPER HELPFUL and assuring!!

ANOTHER QUESTION–I believe I read on here that you will still receive 7 tabs, even if you’re about to receive a pathway option to admittance??? Is that correct? And can anyone remind me how soon after you see 7 tabs, you find out your offer/admittance status??

Yes, pathway options (TEAM, Gateway, TEAB, Eng at Galvy) still receive the 7 tabs-because they’re considered full admission.
The telltale sign of PSA is when ‘change major’ option/tab disappears-PSA is NOT admission to TAMU.
PSA usually doesn’t go out this early. There will be another (small) round of full admissions, then TEAM offers. Gateway is a small program, so those offers aren’t widely mentioned.

If your son hasn’t taken an official A&M campus and Bush School tour, I’d urge you to taken him out of school and get that done this week or next.
Hopefully y’all have done that, tho…

The alum who spoke to your son/wrote the rec is what people call ‘a Good Ag’ :+1:t3:

Last January it looks like Wednesday was a popular day admission updates.

He hasn’t done an ‘official tour’ with the Bush school. Do you think that could make a difference one way or the other re him being accepted? if we take him down in the next week? He did an official college tour with A&M his junior year and then stayed with the corp this past fall.

As long as he’s taken the ‘official’ TAMU tour, that’s fine :check_mark:

Would they send out another batch the same day as UT EA decisions? That’s happening tomorrow.
