Texas A&M Class of 2029 Official Thread

I’m spewing opinion here, and nothing more, but there are surely isolated cases where being hyper-connected play a role in getting in. I know of one personally from 2024 that had ZERO business getting in, but got in.

I can name many more cases of people I know (first or second hand) who didn’t get in whose parents/families are just as very well connected. More of those have baffled me than the ones that did get in, tbh.

If I had to bet, the super connected “somebody pulled a string” cases are very, very small. Like, I bet handfuls…not hundreds.

Fair? Nope. That’s life. Just accept that you were never really competing against them for a spot. A spot was created.

Does anyone know the difference between students who get gateway or who gets straight TEAM vs 3 options?

And gateway is only offered to about 350 students?? Is that correct?

For those talking about the student who was accepted who knows people that know people…. Yall come on. I know no one is really throwing shade, but seriously. That is the way of the world. This will never change and it is what it is. That kiddo will have to do the work once they’re at Tamu. And hopefully, they will.

We work with what we have and then we do our best to position ourselves for the life we want to lead. Is it always fair… nope. Does the cream rise to the top… usually. Does making excuses make us better… nope (although may make us feel better).

Don’t go down that path my friends. Have faith that wherever your student starts, will be where they are suppose to be and that it will only aid them to succeed.

We woke up to 7 tabs! My daughter received the 3 options this week and chose TEAM only. 48 hrs later it’s showing TEAM as the major and the 7 tabs. Hopefully, AIS updates to show official acceptance in the next day or so.

Is anyone else seeing 7 tabs today?

Same here! It’s shows 7 tabs and major says Team but it still says you are being considered for Team. Is this just a system lag??

Difference in major, maybe? She is not engineering or business. Her banner said” You’ve been admitted to Texas A&M- Blinn Team” her major has switched to general studies.

Ty!! Is there a lag in AIS updates? She has 7 tabs and majors Team CS but still says you are being considered for Team. We are incredibly grateful for answers this week and for all the support!

Will TAMU be sending out the 3 options to more people / do another wave? Still holding out for that :smiling_face_with_tear:

@Myfamilyof5 Gateway is a VERY small program, I’d be shocked if it’s more than 300.
Summer housing and dining options are limited, only certain classes are taken, so numbers are kept low.

Daughter woke up to 7 tabs this morning after receiving options last Thursday. So happy and thankful we didn’t have to wait as long as last year!

From everything I’ve read Howdy often updates before AIS. It can sometimes be a day or more before AIS has the banner. Keep checking and congrats!

Agree. Nursing students need to prioritize the program not the school. Wherever they have best chance of succeeding depending on their circumstances and opportunities.

I have an aggie in Viz. I’ll often chime in if people have questions about viz or something else I have experience with at A&M. But my younger will not be going to A&M because he wants to go to nursing school. Ultimate goal CRNA.

His collegiate academy started a new partnership with UTA and they get admitted to UTA as a dual credit prenursing student as a senior in high school and then get priority admission to the nursing program so when he graduates high school he then finishes the UTA BSN in only 15 months post high school graduation. (He will have already completed the dual credit associates degree portion with the community college partnership too prior to high school graduation). We had been touring colleges and considering options including A&M, UH, Tech, etc but now that we learned about this new partnership, he is planning on going to UTA. He will be the second cohort group from his school. There is another school who has this same partnership and has been doing it for 8 years successfully. So we are glad to have this opportunity.
