They showed the times this week. There was about 4 1/2 hours between first to leave and last to leave. And no tasks that were super hard or difficult navigating to cach up. I was fooled by the “may be eliminated” and thought that might be the compensation for nothing to make up time for the lower half teams. I was sad to see the sisters eliminated, although suspected it because we learned more about them and got to hear their song. Despite being opposed to the BB angle, I don’t dislike any of the teams. They show enthusiasm for the Amazing Race experience which was one of my doubts.
Agreed - I was certain I was going to see semi-celebs trying to get screen time in whatever way necessary. They all seem to be enjoying the game.
Speaking of personality, if you don’t know these contestants from BB I will tell you that Tucker is/was FULL of personality. So much so that I thought for sure he would get a post-BB invite for some sort of entertainment gig - like Broadway or comedic work - he’s sort of a dead ringer for a Jim Carrey type “character”.
I don’t remember Izzy showing a mean/angry streak on BB. Play hard? Sure. But I feel like BB doesn’t present as much intense challenge like AR does - there are challenges but it’s more about your social game.
AR side note: Phil is running his first marathon at the NYC Marathon today!!! I wonder who will be greeting HIM at the mat. ![]()
Finally caught up on last week’s episode. They do show times when the teams are departing and I think it was almost a 4 hour gap between the first team and the last. So, pretty much no hope for the last place team to make it.
This might be the first time I’ve heard the “may be eliminated” phrasing and actually have a team get eliminated.
With that wording, thought it might be a “keep racing” leg, but was not. Wonder if they will have an NEL coming up and wanted to keep us guessing. In older seasons, they used that wording every week but only occasionally was it an actual non-elimination leg.
I completely agree with you about Tucker! He has a super entertaining personality. I’m glad he and his brother are doing so well.
I was not a fan of Izzy in BB and not a fan now.
I know the last few seasons they said there would be no non-elimination legs. But I don’t think they said that this time. Does anyone else know?
I was sad to see Rubina and her sister go, too. This delayed start thing is really just too hard to overcome.
I honestly don’t understands why A&J were allowed to get tickets before the sisters. Didn’t the women get there first? Not sure why the sisters did not tell them to issue their tickets first. It might not have mattered, as they seemed to struggle throughout the leg, but certainly would have helped the sisters to be on the first skydiving plane.
Loved the scene of Phil running away from the manure-covered brothers. Overall, better challenges than last week.
I think chasing Phil should mean automatic elimination! Also, those bears were fun. I love the variety of mat greeters.
They probably thought someone would freak out about the skydiving and it wouldn’t be so boring. That’s a lot of expense and logistics for something not very challenging. At least the sheep were entertaining. Crafty me would have chosen the mask. It didn’t look too hard and as one of them said it didn’t smell and you could sit down. I’m wondering what they did with all the manure clothes. Hopefully they all have several of their chosen outfits and could just throw them out now that it’s fairly close to the end.
My wife and I wondered the same thing, so we rewound and watched the teams enter the travel agency - and it looks like they came in through the door just ahead of Stephanie and Natalie.
Anyone watch this week?
We’ll see how close 1st and 2nd was if they show departing times last week but PRETTY impressive that Tucker/bro came close to beating Jag/Bro even when they had the express pass.
In this game you can def go from front to back - or vice versa so lots of game to be played yet.
It does seem weird to me when Amazing Race chooses challenges that clearly could favor a team. I mean while not exactly the same, a flute challenge for a professional flute player?!
Emotional watching Joseph/Bro at the finish line. ![]()
I will also be curious to know how far apart they finished. They showed Jas & Jag’s driver taking a short cut, but didn’t really share how much of a short cut it was.
I found this week’s challenges slightly boring / similar to previous ones this season. I loved learning about the culture though. They must have to pick the challenges before the season is cast, or by two groups who don’t interact, to avoid accusations of catering to one person’s skills. I was so worried for Adam’s health. The chicken was creepy and I don’t know how it could see the eggs. I figured the last two “may be eliminated”s were fake outs and meant we’d be getting one eventually. Next week looks like a big shakeup of placement.
I thought the same, but I think it would be very unfair to create challenges that would be easy for certain teams, especially if the word got out.
Overall, I’m enjoying this season. Not so much drama, which I actually appreciate.
True. On the other hand, they’ve cast dancers who have done well in dancing challenges. And there were couples that were fluent in the language of the country they were visiting.
Agree that they must make up the challenges without knowledge of the player’s skill sets. There is always a certain level of luck involved in how much a location or challenge favored certain teams.
Wow! The best Amazing Races are when the plot twists. Sometimes you need brain rather than brawn and speed. The double u-turn wasn’t as much of a factor as it might have been.
Did nobody take a math or physics course in college?!?!
