Fun and interesting post race interview with Tucker and Eric.
They said they were only 2-3 minutes behind the team in front of them but AR cleared the mat real fast to make it look like it was much later.
They also said that they did not use any strategy at tasks to decide which of them should do it. They simply from the start took turns one after the other. On the one hand that speaks to their strengths- that they could both be so versatile. On the other hand in that alpha challenge in hindsight, Eric should have done it.
Also of interest, they used some of their food allowance to buy a refrigerator magnet in each country, lol.
They said they had the heaviest bags at 40+ pounds each. They wonât bring so much if there is a next time! And that when they stay in hotel (which could be not just overnight but sometimes like closer to 2 days) they are not allowed to leave the room. They brought resistance bands so they would have something to work out with and Eric who was training for a marathon once did 1000 laps of the room to try and get some mileage in!
They both indicated they would love to race again.
Last week anyone? Or are you sad like me that Tucker and Eric are gone?
Sort of not surprised to see Chelsea and dad go - they have had travel issues often.
What I would REALLY like for excitement would be for Izzy and partner make it to the final and best out Jag/partner. If Jag wins it will be anticlimactic
If the other two teams win that is fine as well! I just hope Josephâs brother makes it out alive!
Just want to pop in to say that I did not have high hopes for this season with the Big Brother tie-in but I stand corrected in that thinking â Iâve really been enjoying this season.
Iâm caught up. I was disappointed to see the brothers go. In my opinion they were by far the strongest team. With two dyslexic kids I feel for him. I hadnât watched Big Brother so the team makeup didnât bother me. My husband has found this season slow.
Iâve watched BB not from the start but for several seasons. They may have really hand picked these teams but as youâve seen, they are not cut throat, they are kind to each other and they likely knew each other to a degree before starting the AR season. And while generally kind, they are all VERY competitive. (Minus the cute young married couple from the beginning that they seemed to just be VERY go with the slow flow people, lol)
The big brother connection hasnât really been showcased as such on the show. IMO, it hasnât been a big thing and I am glad.
I was sad to see the brothers go. They were a strong team. Jas/Jag also appear to be a really strong team - they were heading to the pit stop when other teams were still finishing up the second challenge and still had to do the third! Izzy and Paige are not athletic, but they are methodical and donât make many mistakes. I can see them making it to the final three.
Not sad to see the dad/daughter go. Surprised they survived this long when they were so bad at directions - I think they got lost everytime they had to navigate somewhere!
I like Jag & Jas. They are work well together and are kind to others. I also liked the brothers. Iâm not a big fan of Izzy & Paige.
Iâm also surprised that the Big Brother theme wasnât disruptive to me. I find it interesting that, other than Tucker & Eric, @abasket refers to the teams by the BB playerâs name and their dad/partner/brother. I wonder if BB fans are focused on the BB player and view the other teammate as a tagalong.
I wonder if the Amazing Race powers that be were expecting/wanting more drama from the BB tie in. Maybe to attract a younger audience. It will be interesting to see if there was any impact on the ratings considering the seems popular opinion from already fans that the BB tie in hasnât been as bad as expected.
Yes, thatâs true. I find them likable - and maybe thatâs because I havenât watched Big Brother, so Iâm judging these teams purely on their gameplay here on The Amazing Race without any prior biases. Jag and Jas are super competitive without being cutthroat, and I appreciate that. Tucker and Eric were my favorites, but now that theyâre out, I do think J&J are very deserving. But, at this point, Iâd be happy with any of the final four teams winning.
My prediction is that Kyland and Taylor will be out next as they seem to be the weakest of the remaining teams.
Jas and Jag reminded me of the winners from a few years ago. Theyâd be described as a couple of âhippie brosâ. But they approached the game with such joyâthey spoke Japanese and the race went through there, how lucky. They had to do some kind of thing where I think they dangled from a building, and their response was something like âWOW, this is so James Bond!!!â
Iâm going to start a Big Brother thread next year and invite you all to join in.
BB like other reality shows is built on a similar format. Social game, competition/skill, relationships, strategy. You want your toughest competition out. You build alliances.
I donât know if BB gets a bad rap because itâs often comprised of younger people? The length of the game is MUCH longer - 90 days? - so you have to be âgame onâfor much longer.
BBUK wrapped last month and was 48 days long. Iâm currently watching BBAU which has its finale next Monday and is 30 days long. In both cases, the fans are in an uproar that the seasons are so short. Thereâs no pleasing some people.
