The Amazing Race!

Amani & Marcus and Bill & Cathi are my favorites at this point. Amani & Marcus were the only ones to do the ferry task…I don’t think any other team would’ve been able to do that one.

If I recall next week’s previews correctly, it seems that Cindy learned her lesson about using available tactics to get an edge. I have a feeling that using their express pass unsuccessfully will come back to bite them.

I don’t think the snowboarders should have let Ernie/Cindy win - it’d be the same as just handing them $15K in cash and why should they do that? Also, Ernie/Cindy blew it when they didn’t u-turn the snowboarders. The time to use the u-turn is when it’ll make a difference in coming in either first place or last place. They knew the snowboarders were on their tail. Using the u-turn isn’t a matter of being ‘nice’ or not - it’s a matter of playing the game.

For the dad/son team I knew the dad would use the u-turn even though there was no need for them to since he just seems like that type of person. I feel a little bad for Zac.

I like Amani/Marcus but I’m surprised by how quickly Marcus seems to fade on the tasks physically since he’s an ex-athlete. Maybe he has some old injuries entering the equation - a good possibility.

Bill/Cathi - pretty remarkable how well they get along and seeing how that contributes to their good performance as a team.

I’m trying to figure out why some feel the snowboarders should have let the other couple win. From what I saw, the race was fair and square, no dirty tactics were used, so why should a team that wins a lot step aside and let someone else win?

As far as I understand it, this is not about ‘fairness’, but about doing your best to be the winner.

What am I missing?

Crizello, I don’t think you’re missing anything besides just a LITTLE leaning towards sort of “good manners” and sharing the wins (when it was SO close). Like it would have been the “gentleman-ly” thing to do.

But as I mentioned earlier, they won fair and square AND completed the task! Cindy did look a little rough there on the ground/sand at the end. Guess she did give her all.

crizello, I don’t think you’re missing anything. As I mentioned earlier, I think it would have been nice had they done so because if they’d been U-turned they would not only have not finished in first, they likely wouldn’t have been in second either. It was clear to them that Ernie and Cindy did not U-turn them so it would have been a nice gesture on their part. Certainly not something they had to do, but it would have been a nice thank you for that. You’re right, though, and it’s a race and not about fairness, and, in that regard, Ernie and Cindy should have U-turned them.

Ernie and Cindy probably should have UTurned the snowboarders or whoever else they thought was a threat. I thought that they were just very upset that they used their Express Pass and it didn’t get them a win.

I hate the UTurning, but that is what the game is all about. It’s nice to see the teams play fair and not have a lot of bickering between them, but they really shouldn’t be so afraid to use the UTurn for fear of not being ‘nice’.

I sound like a cut-throat, don’t I? :)

My husband reminded me this morning that the snowboarders have already given up first place once, to Zac and his dad. I had forgotten that they helped them out once, which gave them an edge.

crizello, I’m not sure what episode your husband is thinking of, but Laurence and Zac have never finished in first. They would have if not for a penalty in one leg, which then resulted in one of Andy and Tommy’s first place finishes.

Right. ^^^ Snowboarders became first by default when Lawrence and Zak got a finish line penalty. So while Lawrence and Zak got to the mat first, they were penalized and did not place first.

Bill and Cathi are my favorites. If they ever squabble, we sure don’t see it. I would love to see them win this season!

I could not believe that Cindy & Ernie were using the express pass. There we so many teams behind them. They needed to save it for a bad day when they are in danger of coming in last and being eliminated. Won’t be surprised if it comes back to haunt them.

That was a satisfying episode. So glad that Lawrence and Zac were eliminated! Lawrence calling the woman who gave him directions “bloody useless” was so obnoxious. And of course he could have done the dance better than Zac because he used to be in a band.

I’m so glad Marcus and Amani got back into the game after that terrible start. I really like them.

And who knew there was such a thing as steeplechase bunny races? That was great!

patsmom, I agree with you… I wasn’t too sad to see Lawrence and Zac go! Of course Lawrence could do every task better or faster! Pretty easy to say when you are standing on the sidelines. Did think it was pretty funny they got U-Turned! That’s karma for you!

I am really pulling for Bill and Cathi or Marcus and Amani to win the whole thing - I love them! I could not believe that Marcus and Amani didn’t look for an earlier flight to Copenhagen though - wouldn’t you be double checking everything just to make sure? Bill and Cathi have grown on me so much - they are pretty adorable.

Cindy and Ernie are bothering me for some reason… She just rubs me the wrong way. And all the talk of how they got “robbed” of first place in the last leg - yeah, not really! She is really whiny.

I’m also not a huge fan of Sandy and Jeremy - they seem to get lost all the time, and they don’t communicate well at all. Nothing ever seems to be her fault! She gave him wrong directions and he was freaking out, and she just had the blankest expression like “What? Not my problem!”

The bunny races made my night - cutest thing ever!! Phil and adorable bunnies… doesn’t get better than that. ; -)

If I had to rank the teams in ideal winning order:

 1. Bill and Cathi or Marcus and Amani
 2. The snowboarders
 3. Cindy and Ernie or Sandy and Jeremy

Well, well, Cindy and Ernie finally got their prize!

I find myself just hoping and praying that the snowboarders make it through and Bill and Cathy (did you hear her - “Hot Damn!” ) as well. Was happy to see Team Football manage to get through another race - I didn’t think they were trying too hard at first.

A final three of Snowboarders, Bill and Cathy and Team Football would be my first choice.

^^I agree^^! And then it would be hard to decide just who to cheer on at the finish.

Laurence was drivng me crazy. He was condescending. Of course, he could do any task better than his son. And who was ultimately reposnsible for driving in the wrong direction to the pitstop? That’s where they lost it (at least based on how the episode was edited), not in how long it took Zac to learn the dances or the fact that they were u-turned.

I was glad Amani & Marcus recovered from the poor decision at the airport. They seemed to remain calm and determined which worked well for them.

Yep, that would be a good final. Those three teams are nice, don’t bicker with each other, etc.

I actually screamed at the TV when Ernie said they were “robbed.” Uh, you mean beaten? Yeah, well, this is a race, you big baby.

Go Cathi and Bill!I love their story…met in Jr. High, dated for 8 years and married the day they graduated college (hot damn!) :)

^^^ yes! and I laughed when Sandy (?or was it Cindy??) said how much she loved the story, then added that she and Jeremy met at a bar. Over shots. The tone of her voice was hysterical.

^
That was Cindy and Ernie that met in the bar over “shotskies.”
