Oh wow. All of my colleges, except one, tell me that I do not need to sit for the TOEFL. YAY :D.

btw this thread is moving crazy fast.

guys, my SAT 1 scores out…i did bad…really bad…really really bad!!
:(. So bad that i dont wanna reveal my scores even:( My chances r not zero any more, they r at a negative level now…

2 options ahead of me, retake in jan or take a gap year & apply after A2. plz suggest me sumthng, i knw i gotta take my decision but plz…help

@hopeless>> dnt worry mann, if ur 1800+, den u still have a fighting chance, after all, ur an international student, dey cant hold SAT1 against u, its mostly english!!>>>, but if u think u can achieve much better scores in a year, id recommend next year, neways its nt really a gap year, u’d b completin ur A levels n den applyin>>

@eatyoualive>> yeahh its movin fastt>> rushh hourrr>> deadlines closinn inn>> essays still nt started>>> um royally screwdddd

hopeless: Here are some options->

a) You have a SAT score around 2000/ SAT scores above 1900 - apply to liberal arts colleges like Bates,Bard, Sarah Lawrence, Middlebury which are SAT optional. Also make sure you apply to places like Mt. Holyoke, Smith, Bryn Mawr, Wellesley etc (the women’s colleges). Take a break and write some solid essays and make sure your interests and passions are clear in your app.

b) Your SAT score is below 1900. Then take a gap year, rock your A Levels and reapply. Trust me, if your scores aren’t above 25th percentile of a college, chances are pretty slim.

Bottom line is you cannot waste your time now applying and then getting heartbroken about disappointing results, consequently slipping into depression and then flunking your A Levels. That happened to a friend of mine so just telling you that if you feel you are not prepared enough then don’t apply.

guys I am not a quitter by nature but this tym i feel backing out is a smarter option…neways i am emotionally pretty low now, dont wanna take a hasty decision.

my SAT scores might not be ‘that bad’ but in a pool of overachievers i am gonna lose my way, i knw. i might just try applying to mount holyoke, bard…lets c

@hopeless- dont worry!!!Jan is there.Most accept jan scores.I know one guy who scored 1700 first time but scored around 2000 in his second try.

@darthspawnus:
the 11 dude got 1 b & 2 a in a levels & 2 world-hgst in o level. & the duke dude got all a in a levels with 595 in math, world-hgst in o level phy & was 1 of the 8 who got a in a level biology this year.
@arifxlr8: he got a problem with aid.

@hopeless>> woahh i ddnt know ur a gal>> try da womens colleges, dey seem to hav slightly lower SAT percentiless>> like bryn mawer has 1760-2110 middle 50%>>>

@Decibel>.> World Highest Counts??? i gt 1 olevel world highest, n a level 2 units fullmarks

JUMA NAMAZZ IN 10 MINS>>> guess evry1s praying fr USA hahah

LOL^^

@ decibel: Just curious, what was your rank at BUET admission test? You must be in the top 200 to get EEE.

@dartH>> wats wrong<< evry1 disappearedd lol>> i was gettin addicted to dis thread haha

<140, identity issue!
now i hav decided to apply 2 mit 4 grad school, its easy to get in to top grad schools from buet then. Last year 2 grad students from buet went 2 mit & 1 to harvard & stanford each (only last year, think abt the past years!). The accpt % increases from 9 to 25! To grad school i go!

Haha wait till its 10 pm then everyone will get back. SAT scores take time to sink in :/

@ Decibel: Understandable

and yeah I agree with you that it is easier to get into Grad school from BUET then get into undergrad from an international high school.

@decibel>>> SERIOUSLY??? dnt u need to hav like research fieldwork and publications to get into MIT grad school???

HELPPPPP>>>> if ne1s appplying at MIT>> lemme know if ur alumni interviewer replied to ur interview request.>>> mine hasnt replied for 2 days, and deadline is decemba 10th to schedule interviews>>>

Sorry bro no clue about MIT interview as I am not applying there.
I am sure he/she will reply soon.

This is only for those who took sat 1 in dec & got 1 (25) min writing section:
Which improving paragraph did you get? the one abt migratory birds or abt beaches??
plz reply anyone. ASAP

:( so tuk a day off to freshen up my mind.

but where’s evryone? winter hibernation?? kidding!!

tym to make logical calculations. My SAT scores comfortably fit in the middle range of my top choices( mount holyoke & all). so i thnk i am willing 2 take a chance.but only apply to 2-3 places(ridiculous, i knw).but u see, sumtyms less is more!!

@ the end of da day, we r all waiting 4 miracles,ryt?
