That was an action packed premire! I really enjoyed it. I won’t throw out any spoilers but thought we could discuss. I have my thoughts as to the connection between the main characters, we’ll see how it unfolds! I will let you watch it On Demand if you missed it tonight!

Anyone else watch? What did you think? NBC may finally have a hit on their hands.

Yes, I watched. Wow…it sure caught my attention! I set it for a series DVR recording.

That was hardcore. I used to love The Unit and it reminded me a bit of that.

Yes, I have thoughts too about their connection. The husband’s extracurricular activities were a surprise to me (referring to the box the woman found in the floor).

So, based on the discovery of the box in the floor, is the husband an undercover bad guy or an undercover good guy? I couldn’t really tell who he was “working” for.

We DVRd Hostages and watched The Blacklist. Enjoyed it very much, although the acting talent of those surrounding James Spader could use some improvement. Look forward to the backstory unfolding.

I watched it, too, and enjoyed it, though I agree with alwaysamom about the acting. (We’re not talking Claire Danes, here.) I think that the implied relationship is so obvious that it is hard to believe that’s where they are going with it. The H was a big surprise, I must say. He came across as the ideal New Man husband… no wonder he doesn’t have a visible job. :D

DH and I watched too and found it interesting and entertaining. I really like James Spader and thought he was very good in the part. I’ve got my guesses on the relationship too, but we’ll just have to wait to see if we’re all correct.

Consolation–yes, the I wonder about the obvious connection being too obvious–we’ll see. I figured out the H when Spader kept asking what was said about the husband during the interrogation. So I was reaidy for the discovery. I need to go back and re-watch for the little things said about her past to see if there were more hints there and I missed some of them.

Hopefully the acting will get better–we’ll see. If you have On Demand you can go watch it today. They are rebroadcasting the Pilot on Sept. 28th at 9pm EST also!

Spader declared that they were currentlty filming the 5th episode and that little was known about the future “details” of the show.

My take is that this show should be a “smart” one, and that we should not expect to find out that Red is Keen’s father in the next weeks. That would be UTTERLY stupid as the show would not keep growing and maintain the interest. Fwiw, one would think that the CIA did process the DNAs of Keen and Red as soon as the improbable connection was made. Of course, they present the government as pretty inefficient and clueless. Wonder how they came up with THAT idea! :)

Anyhow, I fully expect 9-10 weeks of developing small hints about the real life and motivation of the husband and Red. It will NOT be a simple story a la Red is her real father and the husband is an infiltrator from the KGB. I will be more complex, and might not even come to light in the first season.

PS Spader is a fascinating actor. I am thrilled they did not pick Kiefer for this role.

Somemom, DH and i saw the silence of the lambs connection quickly .
That is a favorite of ours.
Im willingly to give this series a few weeks to grab me, mostly because of Spader who is so slimy and attractive all at once.

Perhaps we will find out that Agent Keen is the secret daughter of the pair of KGB agents (played by Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys) in FX’s 'The Americans! :)

I thought it was great - elements of Tom Clancy and Silence of the Lambs. Spader is great in the role. There’s lots of avenues to explore. I watched Hostages too and thought, They’ll run out of plot - how long can they keep them hostage?

I finally was able to watch it yesterday. Loved it! My husband pointed out the obvious connection, but I argued with him that it would have been discovered during the background checks. I hope I am right (as always) and it is something different (don’t know what though).

I watched last night and loved it. I am a big fan of this genre generally and I think the show is well written and well cast. I thought Spader was particularly good. I like the marriage subplot/twist. Blacklist is my new favorite. Although, if anything happens to that dog down the road, I will be very upset!
