The Cafe Watering Hole: PART DEUX

Gibbs free energy is the least of your worries. But it does pop up a lot in many “advanced” chemistry things. They might give you the temperature, free energy, and enthalpy and ask you to find the entropy, but that isn’t too hard. The equation is simple. It only gets tricky when they relate it to other thermodynamics things that suck.

That doesn’t count as chemistry, JB.

I’m starting to thoroughly enjoy my stats class because the math makes sense and is logical for once. Pfft, normal curves and t-tests and p-values. All of that is bs. Binomial distributions, however, are an entirely different story.

It does count as chemistry in American public schools, silly Canadian elitist.

I CAN’T CONCENTRATE ugh. I’ve already given up.

I wrote an editorial about this for the school newspaper once. Canada ranks way higher on international education studies than the United States. Since you attend one of the best high schools in Canada, the education you’re getting is far, far, far superior to the one I’m getting at a rural high school in the United States.

My school isn’t one of the top schools. It’s just a good school, I guess. It’s really just the IB that makes it good. The regular curriculum is lacking.

I used to feel like education in the US was much better than it is in Canada, but that’s just because tons of the stuff I’ve read on CC has come from students who attend private schools, and who generally come from an advantaged educational environment. There are less truly “great” schools here than there are in the US but I guess that the average standard is better here. Hmm.

There are plenty of good schools here. I just don’t go to one of those. Even Ohio has good schools. The Cincinnati suburbs have really large and top-quality schools. Some of them are IB.

I’d argue that the private schools aren’t necessarily better. They used to be better, but most of the smart students here go to public schools, or public magnet schools. The true private schools are usually affiliated with a church, and all their bozo social policies get in the way of education.

lol. Never think anything on CC is normal. lol.

I got the same f$%#ing ACT score. WHAT THE F$%^$%#

I thought you didn’t care. And once you get a 34, it’s difficult to improve because of the stupid curves.

I got a 32. Again. And I lied about caring.

Take it again in October. Or late register for June.

I was going to take it again anyway. But still. At least everything was above 30.

One of these days, a graduation speech is going to magically appear on my screen.

Magic, you speak of?

Yes, magic. Like the graduation fairy’s pixie dust.

Lame.

jkjkjk

Or like karyotyping, I swear.

Cryin’ by Aerosmith is classic and makes me nostalgic, even though I no longer think it’s that great. I’m going to download the entire album that it’s on right now. Along with OK Computer by Radiohead, and maybe a Kanye album. Hmm.

Two of those three things surprised me.

Kanye and nostalgia?

I read this thing about this English chemist whose last name is Vallance, and it made me laugh inside. lololol.

Kanye and Aerosmith, specifically. But yes. Should I introduce you to Canada’s greatest export, Neil Peart?

NERDDD.

Neil Peart is from Hamilton and sucks.

Avril Lavigne is from Napanee and sucks.

CANADIAN PRIDE.
