The music made that video ten times worse.

But it did make me feel much better about my decision to take hardly anything with me to college.

The music made that video ten times worse.

But it did make me feel much better about my decision to take hardly anything with me to college.

The music was horrible, I agree. I turned off my speakers.

I’m going to start my summer assignments tomorrow.

I’m going to write my extended essay in its entirety by mid August, and then send it to my supervisor for revision. Then I will edit some stuff, and have an almost completely finished copy done by the beginning of the school year. And then I will submit the final copy by October, and be done four months early.

How long was that again? 4000 words or so?

I suppose the only reason they give so much time is because of the students doing science research and whatnot. It certainly shouldn’t take you that long to write a really good essay on literature.

I’m going to try to finish up my thank you notes tomorrow. I have been really slow with those.

The only reason it takes so long is because there’s literally no time to do it with all the silly other work on the side. All of the seniors I’ve talked to regret not finishing theirs in the summer, because their senior year was hell. They had around 9 major assignments/essays, in addition to the extended essay, that would all be graded by the IB organization, all due on the same day. Pretty ridiculous.

It’s technically “as many words as it takes to express myself” but essays that aren’t at least around 3800 words never do well. 4000 is the maximum, though, and around 10% of the final grade automatically gets taken off if the essay goes over the limit.

I’m a bit miffed with academia’s obsession with length. If I were to turn in a really solid 6-page paper for an 8-page assignment, I’d only realistically be able to expect a C, even at my school. But if I turned in a crappy 10-page paper that went off-topic, I’d probably get at least a B+.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I find that things are a bit more open when it comes to my actual, non-IB schoolwork, but it’s common knowledge that if you don’t get to within 5% of the maximum word limit for an IB assignment, you won’t do very good. Tsk tsk.

I just had a short bout of anxiety about the college admissions process.

But I found an organization in Syracuse that holds annual Ulysses essay contests. The only problem is that the essays have to be between 500-1000 words, and my extended essay will be far too big. We’ll see.

You can do it.

I just had a short bout of anxiety about student loans.

My anxiety is on the backburner. And I’ll start everything tomorrow.

Today has been one of my weirdest days in a while. Since lunch, I’ve had absolutely no desire to be awake.

I’m officially a high school graduate. And I hugged about 400 people today.

The hugging got a bit old. At my school, we all have to stand outside on the sidewalk while this endless line of people walks by to congratulate us, and it took every bit of forty-five minutes, even for my small class. I never care to hug so many random strangers ever again.

Meh, I didn’t mind it, it’ll be the last time I see a lot of them. Ours was more everyone running around going, “OMG we have to hang out this summer!” tears, hugging, picture taking

And then it doesn’t happen.

Today I made a profile picture that actually satisfies me. I don’t really care that other people will think it’s rubbish.

Coldplay is giving out free downloads of a live album. I bet the Canadian will go crazy like a JoBro concert.

I don’t care for live albums.

This is the most terrifying website of all time. I got my “personal code” and “pin” today and I logged in and it told me that the “results for candidate number XXXXXXXXX will be posted on 7 July, 2009, at 13:30:00 GMT.” I am terrified.

That’s not my real candidate number, though. I’m so sly.

Orly.

I just read a good portion of Stuff White People Like, and I’m guilty of almost all of that. Bleck.

It even guessed my secret desire to be raised at home bilingually. However, it said that French is most common for that, and I’d rather be raised with Russian or Chinese.

I may look like a hipster one day, but I shall never fully succumb.

Unlike that sly northerner.
